HATCH presenteert een gezamenlijk onderzoek naar het thema voedsel. Dit zal uitlopen in één groot visueel feest.

We kennen het allemaal. We proeven en ruiken het allemaal. VOEDSEL. Alles wat leeft in de wereld, eet. HATCH verkent dit thema in zijn uiteenlopende verschijningsvormen. HATCH daagt uit en geeft het thema vorm in het ‘ultieme conserveermiddel’: fotografie (maar ook in video, en performances).

HATCH is een internationaal collectief van 49 veelbelovende kunstenaars van de opleiding fotografie aan de Koninklijke Kunstacademie Den Haag.

Ons doel is een eigentijdse visie te ontwikkelen op de betekenis van voedsel. Zonder eten geen leven en zonder leven geen eten. Het bestaat en heeft altijd op ontelbare manieren bestaan. HATCH nodigt de kijker uit op een tocht door verschillende vormen en smaken. We zullen vertellen, benadrukken, schreeuwen, suggereren, samenvatten, verbinden, afvragen en het belang van voedsel in ons dagelijks bestaan ter discussie stellen. Voedsel weerspiegelt de dynamiek die ons beheerst. Om die dynamiek te leren kennen, moeten we ermee omgaan en alles zichtbaar maken wat met voedsel te maken heeft.

In samenwerking met curator Femke Lutgerink vertalen deze kunstenaars voedsel op een verrassende en uitdagende manier. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan een eigentijds perspectief op voedselverspilling, op voedselbanken, borstvoeding en biologische landbouw. Stel je voor hoe het is om te leven met diabetes, hoe een liefdesverhaal aansluit op het thema voedsel en hoe de hedendaagse visuele cultuur ons ego voedt.

Het komt zo snel dichterbij, dat we het bijna kunnen proeven. Onze groepstentoonstelling is te zien van 23 tot 26 januari 2020, in The Grey Space in The Middle in Den Haag

HATCH presents a collaborative research into the theme “FOOD” and resulting in one big visual feast.

We all know it. We all taste it. Everything that lives, eats. Exploring its countless manifestations. Hatch is celebrating, challenging, and observing FOOD in its many forms. Taking its shape using the ‘ultimate preservative’: photography, as well as video, installation, movie screenings and performances.

Hatch is an international collective of 49 emerging visual artists.

We aim to share contemporary visions on what food is and means. Food gives life and frames life. Food is an element without a precise time and space. It exists and has always existed in countless ways. The viewer is invited to move with us through different forms and flavors. We will converse, underline, scream, suggest, bring back, connect, question and challenge the importance that food has in our everyday. Food is a witness of dynamics riddled all around us. To really know them we have to interact with it and let everything which is related to food rise to the surface.

Together these artists, in collaboration with curator Femke Lutgerink, translate this theme in surprising and imaginative ways. Think of contemporary perspectives on food wastage, food banks, breastfeeding and organic farming. Imagine how to live with diabetes, how a love story taps into the theme of food and how contemporary visual culture feeds our ego.

It’s so close, we can almost taste it.Our group exhibition will be presented from the 23rd to the 26th of January 2020 at The Grey Space in The Middle in The Hague.
