"Ciudades" means cities and is the name of our debut CD!

As a group of 4 people coming from the same country, the inevitable fact of having the same cultural background creates a very strong and natural connection between us, as musicians and friends. And this connection also happens between the audience and us.
It is a great pleasure when we feel the music we play brings people together, and that they can recognize the music we play from their origins and life experiences.
That’s where the idea of this CD comes from – it evolves around different cultures, their people, history and traditions.

“Ciudades” is a piece by the Dutch composer Guillermo Lago - very dear to us - with 6 movements, where each movement has the name of a city that inspired the composer. This great work is very special to us – we found ourselves through this piece - and will be the center of CD, for which also Lago wrote a special edition string quintet accompaniment, to be premiered on the CD.
Alongside with “Ciudades”, there will be two new commissions of two very young composers: Nuno Lobo and Ramin Amin-Tafreshi. Lobo comes from Portugal and will write a piece inspired on the city of Porto, and Tafreshi, as Iranian, will write a piece inspired on persian and kurdish folk songs.
To finish the CD, three movements from the Spanish Suite nr. 1 by Isaac Albéniz, an amazing piece full of flavors from the Spanish Culture.

As everything we do, we want to share this CD as much as we can. And for that we want to invite you to be part of this project!
Not only it takes a lot of work, but also a high cost for: all the recording, mixing and mastering; design and pressing of the CD; texts of the booklet; best location for recording and photos.

"Ciudades" significa cidades e é o nome do nosso primeiro CD.

Sendo nós um grupo de 4 pessoas do mesmo país, o inevitável facto de virmos de meios muito semelhantes cria entre nós uma ligação uma ligação muito forte, como músicos e como amigos. E esta mesma ligação acontece também entre nós e o público.
É um enorme prazer quando sentimos que a música que tocamos junta as pessoas, e quando elas a podem reconhecer das suas origens e experiências de vida.
“Ciudades” é um projeto que se desenvolve à volta de diferentes culturas, das suas gentes, histórias e tradições.

“Ciudades” é uma obra do compositor holandês Guillermo Lago. Tem 6 andamentos onde cada um deles representa uma cidade que inspirou o compositor. Esta obra é muito especial para nós - foi através dela que nos “encontrámos” a tocar enquanto grupo - e será por isso a obra central do CD, para o qual Lago escreveu uma edição especial com acompanhamento de quinteto de cordas, a ser estreado no CD.
Juntamente com “Ciudades” haverão duas novas obras de dois jovens compositores: Nuno Lobo e Ramin Amin-Tafreshi. Nuno Lobo é português e escreveu uma obra inspirada na cidade do Porto, e Tafreshi, Iraniano, escreveu uma obra inspirado em música folk persa e curda.
Para terminar o CD, três andamentos da Suíte Espanhola nr.1 de Isaac Albéniz, uma obra fantástica cheia de sabores da cultura espanhola.
