Mijn naam is Jorine Oosterhoff, ontwerpster van fantasievolle producten uit keramiek en papier. Ik ben altijd een dromer geweest. Als kind hield enorm veel van sprookjes en verhalen en kon ook helemaal opgaan in een soort fantasiewereldje. In mijn ontwerpen komt dat weer terug. Mijn producten vertellen een verhaal, het worden karaktertjes, surrealistische families uit porselein.
Het bevriezen van een moment is een vaak voorkomend thema in mijn werk. Uit deze fascinatie zijn ook de paperflowers ontstaan.

Paperflowers
Bloemen in een vaas zijn prachtig, maar dit is helaas maar van tijdelijke duur. Al snel verwelken ze en verliezen ze hun schoonheid. Ik wil een bloemenbos die nooit verwelkt.
Ik maakte ze van papier, een materiaal wat ook vaak een tijdelijke functie heeft. Door deze twee tijdelijkheden te combineren werden de bloemen ineens tijdloos.
Uit simpele basisvormen bouwde ik 30 verschillende bloemen op. Stuk voor stuk anders in kleur en vorm. Elke bloem bestond uit minimaal 60 tot 120 onderdelen. Deze knipte, rilde, vouwde en plakte ik stuk voor stuk met de hand. Een tijdrovend klusje dus! En alhoewel ik in het bezit ben van engelengeduld, werd dit me toch te gortig. Ook werden de bloemen zo duur door al het handwerk dat ze simpelweg onverkoopbaar werden. En dat terwijl de interesse in de paperflowers zeer groot was.
Dat moet anders!
Na veel puzzelen, uitproberen (en nog meer knippen rillen en vouwen) en overdoen heb ik de bloemen ontwikkeld tot een eenvoudig do-it-yourself pakket. Vellen papier worden gedrukt, gestanst en voorgerild. De klant hoeft de bloemen alleen nog te vouwen en in elkaar te zetten In een pakketje zitten genoeg onderdelen voor twee bloemen.
Ik heb 4 kleurvariaties bedacht, geïnspireerd op de seizoenen. Het ene seizoen wat uitbundiger dan het andere. Zo kan ieder wel een favoriete uitkiezen.
Dit alles komt in een mooie verpakking, samen met een overzichtelijke handleiding.
Daarnaast ben ik geselecteerd om de paperflowers te lanceren op Showup 1 - 2 september 2019. Showup is een van Nederlands grootste retailbeurzen op het gebied van woonaccessoires en cadeau artikelen. Hèt verzamelpunt van winkeliers, pers en stylisten. Een ultieme kans dus!

De paperflowers zijn er klaar voor. En ze beloven prachtig te worden! Echter het drukken en rillen van de vellen, de verpakking en ook de standplaats op de beurs SHOWUP is een fikse investering die ik in mijn eentje niet kan bolwerken. Who is Jorine Oosterhoff ?
My name is Jorine Oosterhoff, designer of fanciful products from ceramics and paper.
I've always been a dreamer. As a child, I loved fairy tales and stories and could completely immerse myself in this fantasy world.
This is reflected in my designs. My products tell a story, they become characters, surrealistic families from porcelain. Freezing a moment in time is a common theme in my work. The paperflowers also emerged from this fascination.

Paperflowers
Flowers in a vase are beautiful, but unfortunately this is only temporary.
They soon wilt and lose their beauty. I want a bouquet of flowers that will never wilt. So I made them from paper, a material that often also has a temporary function.By combining these two temporalities, the flowers suddenly became timeless.
I built 30 different flowers from simple basic shapes. Each one different in color and shape. Each flower consisted of at least 60 to 120 parts. I cut, creased , folded and glued these by hand. Such a time-consuming job! And although I am in possession of angelic patience, this nevertheless became too much for me. Also the flowers became so expensive due to all the handiwork that they simply became unsaleable.
And that while the interest in the paperflowers was very high.
There has to be another way !
After a lot of puzzling, trying out (and creasing and folding even more) and redoing, I developed the flowers into a simple do-it-yourself package. Sheets of paper are printed, punched and pre-scored. The customer only has to fold and assemble the flowers. Each package contains enough parts for two flowers. I came up with 4 color variations, inspired by the seasons. One season even more exuberant than the other.
This way everyone can choose a favorite. All this comes in a nice package, together with a clear manual.

The paperflowers are ready. And they promise to be absolutely beautiful! However, the whole production including the SHOWUP fair is a hefty investment that I cannot manage on my own.
