De opnames staan erop! Mede dankzij het succes van mijn crowdfunding was het mogelijk om een extra professionele opname te maken in de prachtige akoestiek van deze kerk, waar ik met 5 strijkers heb gewerkt. Met dank aan de lieve mensen van de rooms-katholieke gemeenschap die mij deze kans gaven.

Door de drukte van deze opname voorbereidingen heb ik nog niet op alle tegenprestaties gereageerd, dit zal snel gebeuren!
Ik verwacht dat eind februari of begin maart het album helemaal af zal komen inclusief het mixen en masteren. Tegen die tijd zal ik een datum prikken voor de exclusieve pre-release party in mijn studio, om te vieren dat het album af is!

Voor alle mensen die niet kunnen wachten tot het klaar is, wees vooral welkom om aanstaande zondag om 4u langs te komen bij Het Muzieklokaal in Utrecht. Hier ga ik een live concert spelen samen met Lucas en Teresa (contrabas en altviool) met tevens een aantal nummers van het album!

The recordings are finished! Thanks to the succes of my crowdfunding it was possible to do an extra professional recording in the beautiful acoustics of this church, where I recorded with 5 string players. With gratitude to the sweet people of the roman-catholic community that gave me this opportunity.

I was so busy preparing this recording day that I did not have time to react to all compensations, but I will get on this very soon!
I am expecting that at the end of februari or the beginning of march the entire album will be finished including mixing and mastering. Around this time I will pick a date for the exclusive pre-release party in my studio, to celebrate the completion of this big project.

For all people that are excited about my album, please feel welcome to come to a concert next sunday at 4h at Het Muzieklokaal in Utrecht. Here I will play a live concert together with Lucas and Teresa (viola and double bass). This will include some songs from the album!

Met dank aan alle geweldige mensen die dit project hebben gesteund of gedeeld. Ik voel me erg vereerd met alle support!

Met het groeien van de crowdfunding campagne en het budget groeien ook mijn ideeën naar grotere hoogtes. Zo heb ik besloten om een kerk af te huren voor de laatste opname dag met de strijkers voor een hele mooie akoestiek. En als ik de 3000 ga halen betekent dit ook genoeg budget om het masteren uit te besteden aan een professionl, wat een nog strakker eindresultaat op gaat leveren!

Vandaag heb ik de eerste mix sessie gehad met Antal van Nie. Hij gaat me helpen met de laatste opnames en het mixen van het hele album. Het afgelopen jaar heeft hij mijn hele Ember release gemixt en gemasterd. Erg leuk om weer met hem aan de slag te gaan aan het volgende grote project.

With gratitude to all great people that supported or shared my project. I feel honoured with all support.

Thanks to the great response I received on the crowdfunding I am getting new inspiration for bigger ideas to make the album more wonderful. So I decided to arrange / rent a church for the final string recordings (= amazing acoustics). And if I will manage to reach the 3000 euros that would mean I have enough budget to let a third party do the mastering of the album (instead of having Antal doing it who is also mixing the album). Which would be really cool, making the entire album more professional.

Today I had the first mixing session with Antal. He will help me with the last recordings and with the mixing part of the album. Earlier he did the mixing & mastering for my Ember EP that I released last fall. I am very happy to be work with him again for this next big project.

Ontzettend bedankt voor alle donaties die tot nu toe al zijn gedaan! Ik ben al over de helft, daar ben ik super blij mee! (ik zal je vertellen, een crowdfunding opstarten is niet zonder de nodige onzekerheden en spanningen, maar daar ben ik nu dankzij jullie support overheen!)

Geen update zonder wat spannende content te delen natuurlijk. Vandaar deze analoge foto's van een vakantie in Ierland bij "The Cliffs of Moher". Dit was een magische reis, waar ik zes dagen lang in een intieme dromerige bubbel zat, wat je onbedoeld in de foto's terug ziet. Door vele dagen en nachten buiten in de regen was mijn wegwerpcamera nat geworden waardoor het grootste gedeelte van mijn foto's paars en vol vlekken mislukt waren. Maar de enkele foto's die wél gelukt waren zagen er des te bijzonder uit (en dat zonder insta-filter of photoshop ;).

Ik heb een emotionele hechting en herinnering aan deze reis en deze foto's, doordrenkt met nostalgie. Voor mij geven deze foto's de sfeer die ik in het album probeer te creëren. Vol kleur, nostalgie, analoge ruis en onbedoelde onverwachte schoonheid ontstaan uit improvisaties.

No update without some exclusive content! Here are the analog pictures of a holiday in Ireland at the "Cliffs of Moher". This romantic holiday was a magical journey. Besides some wonderful memories it also left me with these weird hazy pictures. I had a disposable camera and all its pictures turnt hazy blurry and purple, being affected by the rain, after spending several wet days and nights outside.

I have a strong emotional attachment to those memories and those pictures. These images strongly resemble the feelings and emotions I try to evoke within this musical album. Full of colour, analog noise and sudden unintended beauty. Born out of coincidence, improvisation and a dreamy calmness.
