The Temple for Peace is een project van Chris ‘Kiwi’ Hankins en zijn rechterhand John Anthony Finn, beiden uit Nieuw-Zeeland. Kiwi en John verblijven sinds begin april in Nederland om hier - als Creators van Mandala - The Temple for Peace te bouwen. In het verleden bouwde Kiwi al vele projecten, waaronder de Temple of Transition op Burning Man 2011. Deze dus:

Op Mandala 2018 gaat het er ietwat anders uitzien. In plaats van de gortdroge woestijn van Nevada, verrijst er een tempel… midden op het water!

Uh… wat?

Heb je de video gezien? Mooi! Daarin vertelde Kiwi jullie dat The Temple for Peace de manifestatie van een idee is: langdurige vrede. Maar: vrede vergt medewerking van ons allemaal, wil vrede mogelijk zijn.

Mandala is een festival met lage entreeprijzen. Geld staat nimmer voorop. Het is de bedoeling dat het festival toegankelijk is voor iedereen. We willen samen mooie dingen maken én beleven. Het festival wordt opgebouwd door Creators (muzikanten, kunstenaars, theatermakers, bouwers, weldoeners en meer) die samen diverse Tribes vormen.

Onze Creators komen voor niets werken, maar het mag hen ook niets kosten. Mandala levert de Creators een budget, maar in dit geval, kunnen we het niet volledig alleen af. En vandaar deze crowdfunding campagne!

Hoe werkt dit dan?

Om de tempel te verwezenlijken, is een budget van €50.000 nodig. De eerste investering van €35.000 hebben we zelf al gedaan. Alleen hebben wij, Kiwi en John nog een laatste zetje nodig. Vandaar dat we ook mooie tegenprestaties in het leven hebben geroepen. Die tegenprestaties vind je aan de rechterkant. Daar dus →

The Temple for Peace is het begin. Alsof je een zaadje plant, dat tot bloei komt, zich vermenigvuldigt en uitvliegt over de wereld.

Samen willen we het idee van vrede uitdragen, het tastbaar maken, met uiteindelijk verschillende kunstprojecten over de hele wereld.

This is the fundraising page for The Temple for Peace at Mandala Festival 2018.

The Temple for Peace is a project by Chris 'Kiwi' Hankins and John Anthony Finn, both from New Zealand. Kiwi and John have been living in the Netherlands since early April, to build The Temple for Peace, as Creators of Mandala. In the past, Kiwi has already built many projects, including the Temple of Transition at Burning Man 2011. This is the one:

At Mandala 2018 it will look somewhat different. Instead of the dry desert of Nevada, a temple rises... in the middle of the water!

Wait... what?

Have you seen the video? Perfect. In the video Kiwi told you that The Temple for Peace is the manifestation of an idea: long lasting peace. But: peace requires collaboration between all of us, if peace is to be possible. Just as The Temple for Peace can only be created by working together.

Mandala is a festival with low admission prices. Money never comes first. The festival is intended to be accessible to everyone. We want to create and experience beautiful things together. Over a hundred Creators (Creators of music, theatre, art, constructions and more) work together and form different Tribes. Areas on the festival where they make their - and our - dreams come true.

Our Creators don’t get paid, but cannot cost them anything too! Mandala provides the Creators with a budget, but in this case, we cannot complete it alone. And hence this crowdfunding campaign!

So what's the plan?

To realize the temple, a budget of €50,000 is needed. We have already done the first investment of €35,000 ourselves. Only we, Kiwi and John need one last push. That’s why we need you, but: it won’t be for nothing. Have a look at our counterparts ->

The Temple for Peace and the message of peace, is the beginning. As if you are planting a seed that blossoms, multiplies and flies over the world.

Together we want to express the idea of ​​peace, make it tangible, with ultimately different art projects around the world.
