...om het (voordekunst-) verhaal compleet te maken: "Chasin' Rainbows" staat intussen (eindelijk) ook op youtube! (zie link hieronder).

Het leek me leuk nog een klein stukje achtergrond te geven over waar dit stuk over gaat en hoe dat zich vertaald in de video...

Uiteindelijk ziet iedereen hopelijk wat aansluit op zijn eigen verhaal.. (Natuurlijk ben ik daar benieuwd naar! Wat zie jij er in? Waar sluit het voor jou op aan? Deel het in de "comments" :) Bij deze in ieder geval een indruk van mijn verhaal achter dit stuk vanwaaruit deze beelden zijn voortgekomen.

Het thema van het stuk bestaat (voor mij) uit twee elementen die niet zonder elkaar lijken voor te komen: het ene is h**et vuur van het willen verwezenlijke van grootse (mogelijk niet geheel realistische -) plannen, en het andere is de weerstand** hiervoor die voortkomt uit alle onzekere kanten daaraan.

Als je ervoor gaat moet je losbreken van de afgebakende veilige plek waarbinnen je je nu beweegt ("the checkered blanket") die de illusie van geluk is. Hierbuiten treden betekend vrijheid (en mogelijk fantastische dingen), maar komt ook met de angst dat het vuur om je dromen na te jagen op een bepaald moment minder sterk zal worden, waardoor het je het najagen ("the chase") misschien opgeeft. De enige manier om eroor te gaan (en door te gaan) is jezelf te vertellen: "there's no such thing as running out".

Dit idee wordt uitgebeeld door de danseres die zich afwisselend in een gesloten en open ruimte beweegt, beginnend in de gesloten ruimte. Terwijl ze de grond aanraakt verplaatst ze zich naar buiten, naar de open ruimte die als een paralelle wereld is waar ze op elk moment ook zou kunnen zijn. In het verloop van het stuk wisselt de sfeer steeds tussen de twee elementen van het thema en de danseres wordt hier in de loop van het stuk in meegevoerd, en daarmee tussen de twee plekken. Welke wereld realiteit is is aan jou.. :)

I thought it would also be nice to share some more of the story behind the piece and how this translates in the video. Eventually, I hope you'll see something in it which fits your own story. (If so I'm curious to hear about that! :) Please leave any thoughts and ideas in the comments section, on youtube, or wherever you come across it). Now I'll say a bit about my ideas behind it...

Forme the theme of the piece consists of two elements (which appear not to exist without each other): one is the fire of wanting to accomplish great (possibly not entirely realistic) plans, and the other one is the resistance which comes from all the uncertainties related to it.

When you go for it you have to step out of the secure space of your current territory (the "checkered blanket"). To step outside it means freedom (and possibly amazing things) but it also comes with fear that the fire to pursue your dreams will at some point decrease and you might give up this "chase". The only way to keep going is to tell yourself: "there is no such thing as running out".

This idea is being depicted by the dance who moves between a closed and open space, starting in the closed space. While she touches the ground she moves outside to the open space, which is as a parallel world in which she could be in any moment. In the course of the song the atmosphere switches back and forth between these two elements of the theme. The dancer is being carried away by these developments, moving between the two places. Which world is reality is up to you.. :)

Vorige week zondag (15 oktober) was het dan zover: het officiele release concert! Veel van jullie waren erbij en dat was natuurlijk geweldig! Ik heb ervan genoten de muziek van Leaving Traces op deze mooie plek te spelen en was echt heel blij en trots dit moment met jullie te kunnen delen :). We lieten daar zoals beloofd ook de videoclip zien. Die was toen echt net af! (letterlijk de dag daarvoor, om het spannend te houden ;). Gelukkig werden er geen groentes op het scherm gegooid. (zie hier een 30 seconden snippet 'publieks-ervaring' van deze screening)

Intussen is ook die officieel 'gereleased' en online te bekijken, (deze week eerst nog exclusief op Apple Music te zien, later ook op mijn YouTube-kanaal).

Verder speelden we deze week twee release concerten in Duitsland (in Bremen, waar ons label Berthold Records gevestigd is, en in Oberhausen, waar Dirk vandaan komt). Ook dat waren succesvolle en leuke concerten :). (Meer updates/foto's etc. zijn terug te vinden (en te volgen) via @sietskemusic op mijn Fb-artistpage en @instasietske op Instagram :).

Natuurlijk hebben een aantal van jullie nog een tegenprestatie tegoed! Die ga ik de komende dagen op de post doen. (Mocht daar nog wat informatie voor nodig hebben dan zal ik je er de komende dagen nog over benaderen).

De komende dagen zijn er (evenals in de afgelopen tijd) enkele radio interviews en features in het kader van de release. Updates hierover, en optredens die er nog aankomen zal ik uiteraard blijven publiceren op de social media (links hierboven) en op de website: sietskemusic.nl

Dit is in principe de laatste update via deze campagne pagina, maar ik houd jullie graag op de hoogte via bovengenoemde kanalen en (zo af en toe) via een nieuwsmail. Voor nu in ieder geval veel dank dat jullie met me mee gingen op deze 'voordekunst-trip' en het tot zo'n succes hebben gemaakt! :)

Last week the day had finally arrived: the official release of leaving traces, and of course the release concert. Many of you were there, which was of course wonderful. I really enjoyed playing the music of Leaving Traces in this beautiful theatre and I was really happy and proud to share this moment with you! :)As promised we also showed the video clip. We had literally just finished it! (the day before the concert, to keep it exciting ;). I was relieved no vegetables were thrown on the screen. (above a little snippet of 'audience-feel-view' of this moment).Meanwhile this has also been officially released and can be whatched online. (This week still exclusively on Apple Music, later also on other my YouTube-channel).

After the concert in Amsterdam we continued to play two concerts in Germany; one in Bremen (where our label Berthold Records is based) and one in Obehausen (where Dirk comes from). These were two wonderful and succesful concerts so I'm very happy about how it all turned out in general.

Of course I owe a bunch of you a reward for this campaign still! These I will mail to you in the coming days. (In case I need some more information for this I will contact you about that).

This is (probably ;) going to be the last update for this campaign, but I will post updates/announcement on any developments for this project through the channels mentioned above and will occasionally send you an update by mail. Nog tien dagen... en dan vertonen we de video-clip (exclusief, voor hij uitkomt) tijdens het officiele album release concert van "Leaving Traces"!
15 oktober in het Muiderpoort theater ("Jungle") in Amsterdam dus, om 20:30u Kom je ook? Als je nog een (extra) kaartje wilt bestellen (bovenop de twee plekjes op de reserveringslijst die die misschien al voor jou waren via de door jou gekozen tegenprestatie) kan dat via de webshop op sietskemusic.nl, of stuur me een persoonlijk berichtje om te reserveren (€10,- pp).

Vorig weekend was het dan zover: op pad voor de video-shoot! De beelden werden geschoten op een wijdse buitenlocatie en in een prachtige oude villa. De hoofdrol in de video is voor danseres Katharina Scheidtmann en natuurlijk de muziek. Op dit moment zijn de heren van "Bildreich" nog hard bezig met de edits (het tijdrovende deel van het werk ;). Hieronder volgen een paar beelden als voorproefje...

Ten more days... until we will show the video-clip at the official release concert of "Leaving Traces"! (exclusively, before it will be out in the world).
So on October 15 in "Jungle" (formerly "Muiderpoort Theater") in Amsterdam, at 8.30pm. Will I see you there?

Last weekend the time had arrived for the video-shoot. There was one shoot on a spacious location outside and another one in a beautiful old villa. The lead roll was for dancer Katharina Scheidtmann (and of course the music). The video-team of "Bildreich" is currently working hard to put it all together (the time-consuming part of the work ;). Na een klein feestje afgelopen weekend konden we het plan daadwerkelijk in gang gaan zetten (whoohoo! ;).

Yippie! Op de valreep is het dan toch gelukt! Toen ik even voor elven voor het laatst inlogde vond ik de eindstand met het verlossende vonnis: 100% voordekunst!

...dankzij jullie kunnen we dit spannende project nu gaan uitvoeren en daar zijn we natuurlijk ontzettend blij om! Ik wil jullie dan ook nogmaals ontzettend bedanken! Voor de donaties natuurlijk, maar ook voor de leuke, lieve en enthousiasmerende reacties en het vertrouwen in dit project als geheel. Dit geeft mij en de band veel moed en energie om verder te bouwen, en dankzij het slagen van deze campagne kunnen nu een heel mooie video maken voor de release van het album waarmee we muziek verder kunnen brengen..

Nu kijken we uit naar de opnames van de video-clip voor de single "Chasing Rainbows" en de release van het album. In de komende twee weken zullen we de videoclip gaan maken. Hierover zal ik jullie via updates op deze pagina op de hoogte houden. Ik heb er erg veel zin! De officiele release is over iets minder dan een maand.

Ik kijk er naar uit een aantal van jullie persoonlijk te kunnen bedanken bij het officiele release concert in het Muiderpoort theater op 15 oktober (We zullen daar ook de video tonen). Kaartjes voor dit concert zijn vanaf nu ook te reserveren door een mailtje te sturen naar [email protected] (pre-sale via sietskemusic.nl is in de loop van komende week ook mogelijk).

Voor diegenen die een exemplaar van het album als tegenprestatie kozen ligt er eentje klaar bij het concert en zetten we er daar graag met de hele band een handtekening op ;). ...thanks to you we can now realize this exciting project. We're of course very happy about that! I hereby want to thank you again very much for making this possible! For all the donations of course, but also for the lovely and encouraging comments and the support you give for this musical project as a whole. This gives me and my band courage and energy to keep developing, and thanks to the success of this campaign we can now make this beautiful video for the release of this album and bring our music further.

Now we look forward to the production of the video-clip for the single "Chasing Rainbows", and the release of the album. In the coming two weeks we plan to shoot the video-clip. I will keep you updated on this! The official release of the album is in a bit less than a month.

Furthermore, I look forward to meeting a bunch of you personally at the official release concert at the Muiderpoort theater on October 15th. (We will also show the video clip there! :). You can now also reserve tickets for this concert by sending an e-mail to [email protected] (pre-sale through the website will also be available within the next few days).

Those of you who chose a physical copy of the album as a reward there will be one reserved for you at the concert, where we will also be ready to put our autographs on it ;). (If you can't attend the concert I will of course send you a signed copy by mail). About all other rewards I will contact you personally within the next few weeks (before the end of October).

De afgelopen week was een super spannende week! In spronger ging de teller eerst ineens snel, toen weer langzamer en later toch nog met een sprong omhoog tot 91%, ongelofelijk! Heel veel dank aan de mensen die hierbij geholpen hebben!

Nu nog 1 dag en 300 te gaan. Dat is 15x een album, 8x het album +kaartjes voor het release concert, of 6x het album met handgeschreven lyricsheet en kaartjes. Weet je nog iemand die het leuk zou vinden dit project te steunen? Het zou super zijn als je het zou willen voorstellen aan die persoon. Bijdragen kan nog tot 12 uur vannacht... :)

The past week was evidently very exciting. After the last update the counter was moving up faster, then more slow again and finally again faster, landing on 91% today! Thanks so much to all the people who made this happen!

Now one more day and 300 to go. That's 15x the album, 8x the album +tickets for the release concert or 6x the album with handwritten lyrics and tickets. Yes, jullie zijn de eersten!

En dankzij jouw steun staan we na deze eerste week al op 25%, wow! Heel erg bedankt!! We hebben nog een flink eind te gaan, maar dit is een heel mooi begin!

In deze updates geef ik jullie graag een beetje inzicht in wat er zoal 'achter de schermen' gebeurt (en eerder gebeurde)... bij het maken van het album, de live concerten en deze campagne. De productie van de videoclip vindt pas na het einde van deze campagne plaats als die succesvol is, maar als alles lukt volgen daarvan ook updates, en ook van wat er zoal gebeurd in de periode tot aan het release concert (op 15 Oktober).

In de categorie 'processen' hier een foto van de verschillende versies van het verhaal dat ik uiteindelijk vertelde in het filmpje. ("af! printen, herlezen, "hmm.." aanpassen - herhaal.. ;)

Afgelopen week stond natuurlijk in het teken van iedereen op de hoogte brengen; van het doel en de motivatie voor deze campagne, en ook een beetje van waar "Leaving Traces" voor staat, het verhaal van dit album. Om daar nog wat verder op in te gaan zal de komende week in het teken staan van de teksten van de stukken op het album. Elke dag zal ik een stukje van een tekst posten op Facebook en Instagram. Yes, you are the first ones!

And thanks to your support we've already reached a quarter of the end goal in the first week, wow! Thanks a lot!! We still have a long way to go, but this is a great start!

In these updates, I will give you a little insight in the 'processes' and other 'behind the scenes' matters.. of the making of the album, the live concerts, and this campaign. The production of the video clip will take place only after the campaign has come to a successful end, but if it all works out I will also post updates about that! And also on what's happening in the period until the release concert (on October 15th).

The first picture you see above is one in the category processes: the different versions of the story I eventually told in the video. ("done!", printing, reading again, "hmm.." rewrite - repeat")

The past week was of course, first of all, about spreading the about the campaign. Telling about the goal and motivation for it, and also a little bit about what "Leaving Traces" stands for.. the story of the album. This week I want to go into that a bit further by sharing some of the lyrics of the songs. Every day I will share a fragment of one of the lyrics and post this on Facebook and Instagram. You can follow these updates through facebook.com/sietskemusic and instagram.com/instasietske. Likes and shares are of course appreciated :)
