Mijn naam is Jonatan Alvarado. Ik ben een Argentijnse zanger en barokgitarist gespecialiseerd in oude muziek.
Nadat ik me jaren heb geconcentreerd op het tot leven brengen van muziek uit de 16e en17e eeuw, heb ik besloten om terug te gaan naar mijn eerste aanraking met muziek: gitaar spelen en zingen met mijn vrienden. Het is mijn doel geworden om beide werelden te verenigen – het historische en het persoonlijke – in liederen uit de barokperiode. Dat doe ik door mezelf te begeleiden, iets wat tegenwoordig niet meer gebruikelijk is in de klassieke muziek, maar vroeger des te meer.
Spelen en zingen tegelijk kwam juist veel voor in verschillende perioden, stijlen en culturen – van het hof van de Tudors tot aan het Versailles van Louis XIV. Het nieuw leven in blazen van dit gebruik vanuit een historisch geïnformeerd perspectief is niet alleen natuurlijk, maar ook noodzakelijk.

Sinds een aantal jaar heb ik me geconcentreerd op Spaanstalige liederen,niet alleen van Spaanse oorsprong, maar ook liederen uit allerlei buitenlandse bronnen.
Na het verzamelen van zoveel kleine juweeltjes uit heel de wereld en ze te delen met zalen door heel Europa, heb ik besloten om een opname te maken en mijn favoriete liederen te delen met een nog groter publiek. Deze opname zou bestaan uit een verzameling ‘Vluchtende vogeltjes’, Spaanstalige liederen uit andere landen dan Spanje, en zal grotendeels gebaseerd zijn op twee bronnen vol met prachtige liederen: de Zuid-Amerikaanse Codex Zuola – gekopieerd in Cuzco, Peru in de 17e eeuw – en het derde boek met air de cours van Etienne Moulinié – uitgegeven in Parijs in 1629 als composities aan het hof van de hertog Gaston d’Orleans. Deze liederen worden in verband gebracht met melodieën die ik ken uit mijn eigen Argentijnse volkstraditie.

Uw bijdrage wordt gebruikt om de kosten te dekken van de opname zelf, die dan wordt uitgegeven door Ayros, een onafhankelijk cd-label opgericht door Marco Vitale en Miroslaw Bork. My name is Jonatan Alvarado. I'm an Argentinian singer and player, specializing in early music.
After years of focusing my practice in bringing to life the music of the XVI and XVII centuries, I decided to return to my very first experiences as a musician: playing guitar and singing with my friends. It has become my goal to unify both universes – the historic and the personal - in the field of baroque song, by becoming a self-accompanied singer, a practice that is not common in classical music today but was almost the rule in the past.
In fact, self-accompanied singing is transversal to many different periods, styles and cultures – from the court of the Tudors to the Versailles of Louis XIV. Reviving this practice from a historically informed perspective is as natural as it is necessary.

Since a few years now I have been focusing on songs in the Spanish language, not only those from Spanish origin but also those found in foreign sources spread all over the world.
After gathering so many little jewels scattered all over the world and having the opportunity to share it with audiences all over Europe, I decided to make a recording to share my favorite songs to an even bigger audience. This recording would feature a collection of ‘Fugitive little birds’, Spanish songs away from home , and will be based mainly on two sources filled with beautiful songs: the Latin-American Codex Zuola -copied in Cuzco, Perú in the 17th Century - and the third book of courtly songs by Etienne Moulinié -published in Paris in 1629, while serving the Duke Gaston d'Orleans. These songs will be intertwined and connected with melodies I learned from my own Argentinian folkloric tradition.

With your help, I will be able to cover the cost of the recording of the master, which will be then released by Ayros, and independent records label founded by Marco Vitale and Mirosław Bork.
