Olá,
We are the Lilia crew. And here is everything you need to know about ourselves and our project!
-About the story:
Lilia is a young Brazilian girl who just moved to Rotterdam. She finds herself in a position of confusion at this moment of her life, in the mix of not understanding how she ended up in such a place and where she is going. In this new life, she brings back her own culture and past, together with the new international environment of the city she arrives in.
By creating a storyline that surrounds her memories and future dreams, as well as a reflective and nostalgic environment. This project develops an interaction with the viewer, in which the audience questions who they are together with the character.
To achieve this point in which she understands herself and where she stands right now, Lilia travels through the key points of the city and we follow her life for a couple of days, as well as what the feeling of home is to her.
In the end, Lilia realizes that she is no longer who she used to be, and is far from being who she wants to become.
- Why this story?
As young people, who dream about our futures together with our passion in the film world, we aim to lead the path for others to explore themselves together with us. Lilia's story is about a girl who is lost in her own life, but it's based on everyone's story. This movie introduces the audience to a space in which they reflect on their own choices from the moment they bought the ticket, untill they step out of the room.
- Who are we?
Everything started with a simple train trip. Together in this long excursion, Marina (Writer and Director) and Wanisha (Producer), had their first talks about a very vague concept of what it is to start a new life, go on a train ride, and discover yourself.
From that moment, the two of them connected and started a path of gathering with other friends and students from the Willem de Kooning Academy, as well as students from Erasmus University, both in Rotterdam.
This movie is all about passion. The passion of a group of friends who reunited together one day and wanted to create!
We are all currently in our second year of studies, in which the thirst for creativity and creation gets bigger and bigger every day that goes by. Most of the members are also part of Lilia's story. On our 20s, after a couple of years living in a new city, that is completely different than our own culture and habits from back home.
Lilia comes from Brazil, a country full of joy and warmth. The movie is a connection between the director's growth, while moving countries twice in her teenage years. This story is very personal to her, which also brings the intimacy of this work with the crew, cast and audience.
-Your help:
With your help, our story will be seen on the screens. We will follow Lilia in finding herself and discovering the city, just like each one of us did when we got here. You will help us by making the strongest point of this movie happen: our Art Direction work.
Lilia is a movie that aims big when it comes to the character development and creativity. We wish to show her feelings through the details of her room, as well as the make-up of her friends when they go out at night.
Finally, the project has many shots in external locations, where the visual elements added to the space and characterization of the cast within it bring their connection between space, time, and message. The color of Lilia's story can be summarized in a “tree”, where post-production is extremely important for the nostalgia of her story.
It is indeed, a key point for the development of our visual style and message.
- But why should you?
Every step of this project holds much care from us; from the moment that each member signed in to be part of this experience, to the actors who wanted to embrace such a challenging idea as diving into the waters of Kralingse Boos.
We wish to show on the screens the adventures, challenges, and difficulties we face as dreamers, as you faced when you were here, with us, being young and free, running to catch the metro, falling in love, and searching for an identity and place to belong to.
Each donation will receive a special thanks and reward. If you would like to have your name in the credits, please leave your contact when donating.
Would you like to see your younger self growing up again together with Lilia? Donate now and help our crew tell this story!
