Over de maker

Mijn naam is Noortje Buijs en ik studeer dit jaar af als multidisciplinaire kunstenaar aan St. Joost School of Art & Design van de opleiding Photography, Film & The Digital. Dit ga ik doen met mijn poëtische installatie "An Ode to the Empty Hours” (werktitel).

Het project

Lege tijd, een moment waarin je even geen afleiding zoekt, en gewoon bent. Een pure staat van zijn. Durven we dit tegenwoordig nog weleens te ervaren?

"An Ode to the Empty Hours" is een poëtische installatie die zich af zet tegen de snelheid en drukke prikkels van het moderne leven en onderzoekt de schoonheid en eenvoud van het alledaagse.

Terwijl het ene na het andere tijdbesparende product wordt uitgebracht, voelt het tegelijkertijd toch alsof we steeds meer in tijdnood zitten. In de moderne samenleving waar alles met een sneltreinvaart aan ons voorbij gaat zijn velen opzoek naar ontspanning. Maar dat is paradoxaal. Want wanneer we die lege tijd werkelijk ervaren, grijpen we vaak direct naar afleiding zoals onze telefoon, andere schermen of gespreksstof.
Maar concepten als rust en stilte zijn essentieel voor momenten van relativering en reflectie, welke nodig zijn voor nieuwe inzichten en bevordering van bijvoorbeeld creativiteit.

Met "An Ode to the Empty Hours" nodig ik je uit om stil te staan, na te denken en je te verwonderen over de gewone, maar toch buitengewone momenten in ons dagelijks leven.

Waarom een crowdfunding?

Helaas kost het realiseren van dit project veel geld en dat kan ik niet alleen. Met deze crowdfunding help je mij bij het bekostigen van onder andere materiaalkosten, bouwmaterialen zoals hout, metaal en ijzerwaren maar ook apparatuur, gereedschap en de hulp van professionals.

The creator

My name is Noortje Buijs and I will graduate this summer as a multidisciplinary artist from St. Joost School of Art & Design from the Photography, Film & The Digital studies. I will do this with my poetic installation "An Ode to the Empty Hours” (working title).

The project

Empty time, a moment when you're not seeking any distractions, and just be. A pure state of existence. Do we still dare to experience this nowadays?

"An Ode to the Empty Hours" is a poetic installation that opposes the speed and busy stimuli of modern life, exploring the beauty and simplicity of the everyday.

While one time-saving product after another is released, it still feels like we are constantly running out of time. In modern society where everything passes us by at a rapid pace, many are looking for relaxation. But that is paradoxical. Because when we really experience that empty time, we often immediately turn to distractions such as our phones, other screens or conversation topics.
But concepts like peace and quiet are essential for moments of contemplation and reflection, which are necessary for new insights and fostering creativity.

With "An Ode to the Empty Hours" I invite you to pause, reflect, and marvel at the ordinary, yet extraordinary moments in our daily lives.
