The story so far
My name is Joy and I am a singer-songwriter and one of this year’s ‘Rap and Roer’ participants! I am forever grateful for their encouragement and the means they have provided for me to hone my skills.

Now, my wish is to pour those skills and preparations into an EP!

The inspiration for many of my songs is animal rights. In my involvement with vegan activism in the past few years, I have composed five songs in particular I’d love to record properly.

Music as an instrument
Initially, music was a creative outlet for me when confronted with some of the heart-breaking realities of how most animals are viewed and treated. Previously, I hardly dared to bring my songs past my front door. Thanks to the podium ‘Rap and Roer’ provided and the people I have met since - I developed a newfound appreciation for protest music and its impact.

To me, music is a means of communication of which the strength I cannot match through speech or writing. Which is why I happily invite you over to my TikTok, Youtube or Instagram to let my music speak for itself.

Mijn inspiratie
Mijn naam is Joy en ik ben singer-songwriter. Dit jaar doe ik mee aan ‘Rap en Roer’ en de mensen van deze organisatie hebben mij gemotiveerd, geholpen en middelen aangereikt om een EP te kunnen maken!

De nummers die ik wil opnemen gaan over mijn grootste inspiratie; dieren. Om specifieker te zijn, gaan ze over hoe wij als maatschappij omgaan met dieren en hoe wij ze zien. Dit onderwerp ligt mij nauw aan het hart, ik ben namelijk veganist en betrokken bij initiatieven die zich hard maken voor dierenrechten.

Muziek als instrument
Waar voor mij muziek in eerste instantie een creatieve uitlaatklep is, zie ik steeds meer de kracht van protestmuziek. Het doel van mijn nummers is om een idee te presenteren en uit te nodigen tot een gesprek. Voor mij is muziek een middel om te communiceren wat mij in spraak en geschrift minder goed lukt. Daarom laat ik het voor zichzelf spreken, graag nodig ik u uit om mijn muziek te beluisteren op Tiktok, Youtube of Instagram. Hier upload ik ook informatieve video’s over bijen en veganisme.
