We are Morgan Grunefeld (Director) and Rico Franse (Director of Photography). Several years ago, before the corona outbreak hit the Netherlands, we enthusiastically planned to make this film in Sweden. Unfortunately, the sudden lockdown threw a spanner in the works and our production was postponed. During this time, I, Morgan, as producer, personally made financial investments to partially finance the project, but unfortunately lost largely because we had to cancel shooting.
Now, three years later, we are determined to still make this film. Our belief in the importance of this story has only strengthened as we see that the feeling of JOMO among young people is on the rise. The overwhelming influence of social media and the pressure to conform to society's "sameness" have serious implications for the mental health and well-being of young people.Wie zijn wij?

What is JOMO about?
"JOMO" follows the story of Pontus, a man in his early 30s, who escapes the pressures of city life and the overwhelming influence of social media by seeking peace deep in the pristine forests of Sweden. In his search for inner peace, connection with nature and escape from social media, he discovers the importance of true human connection.
Living in a primitive wooden cabin, known as a Hytta, far away from civilization, Pontus' well-organized and meticulous living space contrasts with its rugged exterior. The hut contains essentials such as a bed, a table and chairs, a wood stove and electricity generated by solar panels.
One day, as Pontus prepares to go fishing, he notices three hikers on the other side of the lake packing up their gear. They appear to have camped at the edge of the lake, an unusual sight because hikers rarely go there. After they leave, Pontus discovers that one of them has forgotten a backpack. He decides to paddle to the spot and finds a phone, charger, dirty laundry, a water bottle, food and a sleeping bag in it. Does Pontus manage to resist his inner urge to leave the phone out? Or will this mean the end of his total isolation?

Why is it important to have this film?
With "JOMO," we want not only to make a powerful and compelling film, but also to inspire a movement that encourages young people to use social media consciously and follow their own path, independent of external pressures. We believe this film can make an important contribution to discussing and solving this contemporary problem.
Why donate.
Making this film is an ambitious undertaking that calls on multiple disciplines and talents. However, to bring our vision to life, we need financial support. With the money we raise through this crowdfunding, we aim to cover production costs so that we can secure the best production value, professional cast and crew, and necessary equipment and locations.
We cordially invite you to participate in our project and become a partner in the realization of "JOMO." Together we can make a film that inspires young people and brings positive change to our society.
