Introduction
We are international Media & Film students at the UvA, and this 12 minute psychological-romantic short film is our passion project! Bence Simon is the writer and director.
We had various smaller film projects for school, but this is the first one where we had the chance to do a longer feature, with more professional gear and whatever storyline.
The shooting of this film consists of two parts: winter scenes (the reality) and summer scenes (the dreamscape). We already started shooting the winter scenes, so most of the fund money would go towards the summer scenes and the submission fees for the film festivals!

The Storyline
In a dream, Adrian meets a woman named Alice. They get along well and nothing could be more ideal for Adrian right now. This ideal, however, is shattered as soon as Adrian wakes up in reality, startled by his alarm clock. In real life, Adrian's life is uneventful, monotone and depressing. He works at his father’s restaurant with whom he has a somewhat damaged relationship with because of Adrian’s ’don’t care about a thing’ attitude.

Until one day, he sees a girl just like Alice from his dreams. After finding out where Alice lives, Adrian goes to her house and studies her, hoping to even possibly talk to her. Alice quickly finds out that Adrian follows her and confronts him about it. Adrian is forced to confess that he loves her, but it turns out that the real Alice is nothing like in his dream. Her name is not even Alice.

That evening Adrian dreams again, and just like he did in real life, he confesses his feelings to the dream Alice. In the dream though, Alice loves him back. Adrian’s real life is in ruins, however, despite his dream-world happiness. In his attempts to chase Alice, he ruined all the little that he had.

Why we need you? Where is the money going?
We are film students, and aspiring filmmakers. This is a really important passion project of ours, so we want to make this film as professionally as possible. But that means, the better quality the gear, the higher the budget.

Because we already started shooting the winter scenes of the film, we financed that ourselves – all of us pitching in. However, we are all students with part-time jobs, semi-financing ourselves, so there is only so much we can pitch in. We are going to have a longer shooting period in May for the summer scenes, so for that the gear will be more expensive, which is where your contribution would help us out so much!
We are also planning to submit the short film into film festivals, like Cannes, Berlinale, Rotterdam film festival and so on... Not all festival, but most, require submission fees, so if not all of the fund-money goes to renting out the gear, the rest would go to festival submission fees, and if there is still space, then maybe even covering the fees we already paid for the winter shoot.

The future of "I Dream of Women"
As mentioned above, we are making this film purely because love doing it – that's the most honest and simple explanation. We all want to work within the film industry one day, so if this film turns out the way we have it in our heads, we would be so proud to share it with everyone else and say that we worked on this film.
Ideally, we would also like to throw a premiere, to which all the contributors will be invited. Planning details still have to be figured out, like the date and the venue. But hopefully, we will finish with the film by late summer/early fall, so somewhere around that time we can celebrate this journey, that you helped us make happen, with you!
