After All is een intieme dansvoorstelling op locatie die zich afspeelt in de nasleep van een catastrofale klimaatramp. Met een team van vier dansers, een componist, dramaturg en lichtontwerper, vertellen wij een verhaal waarin universele gevoelens zoals verlies en eenzaamheid centraal staan - maar waarin hoop ondanks alles toch verbindt.

Op 18 Mei gaat de voorstelling in première, waarna After All op verschillende podia te zien zal zijn. We zijn al even op weg met de repetities, en de voorstelling begint vorm aan te nemen. Maar voor de laatste loodjes hebben wij jouw hulp hard nodig! Want een voorstelling zonder licht en muziek in natuurlijk nog niet af, en er moet nog transport worden geregeld om het technisch materieel en de dansers naar alle locaties te brengen.

Over ons

Wij zijn Niek Wagenaar's Nymphs, het hedendaagse dansinitiatief van choreograaf Niek Wagenaar. Met onze benen stevig in de maatschappij van vandaag, brengen wij grote thema's op persoonlijke en intieme wijze naar ons publiek. In een zachte, sensuele bewegingstaal vertellen wij herkenbare verhalen over universele gevoelens.

Ons debuut Nymphs ontving vorig jaar verschillende prijzen in binnen- en buitenland, waaronder de publieksprijs op het Delft Fringe Festival. Onderdeel van die prijs is dat wij dit jaar het gezicht zijn van het festival, en deze openen met een gloednieuwe voorstelling, After All.

Over After All

Bosbranden, overstromingen, een ingestorte gletsjer. We duwen de aarde tot haar grens, putten haar uit in de wetenschap dat er eens een einde aan zal komen. Ondanks de duidelijke signalen dat verandering nodig is, gebeurt er maar weinig. Natuurlijk, we doen allemaal concessies: zonnepanelen sieren de daken en er ligt steeds minder vlees in onze koelkasten. Desalniettemin blijft de aarde opwarmen en de klok doortikken. De menselijke zucht naar comfort lijkt te sterk, zelfs in afwachting van het einde van de wereld.

We beelden vaak genoeg in hoe het zal verlopen: een oorverdovende knal terwijl de aarde plots onder je wegvalt of een vlammenzee die ons allen in één klap overspoelt. Een grote gebeurtenis die achter alles een punt zet. Maar wat blijft er over wanneer de storm is gaan liggen? Als het gruis is neergedaald, zal het leven dan weer opkruipen?

After All speelt zich af in de grimmige werkelijkheid nadat de wereld hoe wij hem kennen is opgehouden te bestaan. In deze dansvoorstelling van dertig minuten worstelen vier personages met de plotselinge omslag van overvloed naar schaarste en met gevoelens als schuld, verlies en eenzaamheid.

After All is an intimate site-specific dance performance set in the aftermath of a catastrophic environmental disaster. With a team of four dancers, a music composer, dramaturg and light designer, we tell a story in which universal feelings such as loss and loneliness take centre stage - but in which hope connects despite all.

The performance will premiere on May 18, after which After All will be presented on several stages. We have been rehearsing for a short while now, and the performance is starting to take shape. But for the last stretch, we are in great need of your help! For a performance without light and music is of course incomplete, and transport needs to be arranged to take the technical equipment and dancers to all the locations.

About us

We are Niek Wagenaar's Nymphs, the contemporary dance initiative by choreographer Niek Wagenaar. Firmly rooted in today’s society, we tackle grand subjects and bring them to our audiences in a personal and intimate way.

Our debut Nymphs received several awards in both The Netherlands and abroad, including the audience award at the Delft Fringe Festival. Part of that award is that we are the public face of this year's festival, and will open it with a brand new performance, After All.

About After All

Wildfires, floods, a collapsing glacier. We push the earth to its limit and deplete it, knowing all too well that one day it will come to an end. Despite the clear signals that change is needed, very little is happening. Of course, we’re all making concessions: solar panels adorn our rooftops and there’s less and less meat in our refrigerators. Nevertheless, the earth continues to warm and the clock continues to tick. The human thirst for comfort seems too strong, even in anticipation of the end of the world.

We often enough imagine how it will come to pass: a deafening bang as the earth suddenly falls away from underneath you or a blazing inferno that engulfs us all at once. A big event that puts a stop to everything. But what remains when the storm has calmed? When the grit has settled, will life creep up again?

After All is set in the bleak reality after the world as we know it has ceased to exist. In this 30-minute dance performance, four characters grapple with the sudden shift from abundance to scarcity, and with feelings like guilt, loss and loneliness.
