Over ons:
"Dear all,
Wholeheartedly I would like to recommend a young and very exciting new ensemble that has appeared on our musical stages. Ensemble Orochi! It's wonderful to see a group of briljant and enthusiastic young musicians come together and present programs on the highest level with total commitment. After the enormous cuts in the arts in recent years it is so important that a new generation of musicians still can find the energy to stand up and make themselves heard. To surprise us with new works and with new interpretations of older works. An exciting future awaits Ensemble Orochi!"
Jurjen Hempel, dirigent
"I had the opportunity to work several times with Kanako Abe and I know her for many years. She is a great conductor and musician with a lot of experience. She is at home in all repertoire and specially in the 20th and 21st century music . She has worked closely with very different composers and knows exactly how to perform their music to deliver the best of it.I wish her the best for her new ensemble dedicated to contemporary music! "

"I am pleased to recommend the ensemble Orochi for any further support that helps it attain its worthy objectives."
Dr. Marlon Titre, Head instrumental department at Royal Conservatoire The Hague

"It is my pleasure to warmly recommend the Ensemble Orochi, the new born ensemble which aims to introduce the music of the 20th and 21st century, based in The Hague and directed by the excellent young conductor Kanako Abe. In my capacity as teacher at the Royal Conservatory The Hague I had the opportunity to get to know members of the Ensemble during their study period and they are all talented and open-minded musicians now taking their responsibility to bring new music to a wider audience . I wish the members and Kanako lots of success for any beautiful projects that the Ensemble Orochi will bring in the future."
Jac van Steen, Honorary principal guest conductor of the Ulster Orchestra / Principal Guest conductor Prague Symphony Orchestra / Professor for conducting at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague / Guest teacher at the RCM and RAM in London

Alvast hartelijk dank!
Ensemble Orochi.

About Us:
We are Ensemble Orochi, a young professional ensemble consisting of 8 musicians including the experienced conductor Kanako Abe. Our goal is to bring lesser known music to a wider audience. We focus on performing new works by living composers and music from the 20th -21st centuries. We interweave newly composed repertoire with existing repertoire to make today's music more accessible to the public. We also want to create musical theater in a new way: by staging newly written music and pairing it with well-known masterpieces.
What others have said about us:

"In such explosive times as ours, it is vital that audiences and musicians learn to listen again, to each other, to something beyond themselves, to something that adds a secret value to life. I am convinced that ensemble Orochi under the direction of Kanako Abe will fill that need and find its place in Dutch musical life in no time."

_"I have been following the work of conductor Kanako Abe for several years and had the pleasure of working as a conducting teacher with this passionate and highly skilled conductor._During this collaboration I witnessed the quality of her work.
This, in terms of craftsmanship as well as its artistic, added value in the field of contemporary music culture.
That is why I fully support the initiative and idea surrounding the Ensemble Orochi. An ensemble with passionate and talented young musicians. It is not self-evident for young people to showcase their talents, to be able to develop further, and any support in this direction is therefore extremely important.
I heartily recommend these young musicians and it is desirable that Ensemble Orochi is supported as much as possible."

We are eager to make a fresh start after 2 years of corona restrictions!
As a beginning ensemble, we have had two difficult years where our plans were thwarted by corona restrictions. We would like to make a new start by giving a concert series in November 2022 to make ourselves known to the public.
With the following repertoire:
For this series we have partnered with the award winning composer Hibiki Mukai. He has created two new compositions especially for us, of which Hare in the Moon flows seamlessly into Arnold Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire. In addition to the above works by Mukai and Schoenberg, we will also perform an arrangement of Der Abschied from Das Lied von der Erde by Gustav Mahler. This arrangement was created by Arno Rockler, the clarinetist of our ensemble.
Why do we need help:
In order to give our ensemble a good start and to obtain the necessary materials to help us further, your help is greatly needed
In order to realize the above concert series, we need money to rent concert halls. Furthermore, we need professional audio and video material of high quality with which we can promote ourselves, so that music festivals and concert halls can get to know us. We want to have this material made during the concerts. The money we hope to get from this crowdfunding campaign will therefore be used to rent concert halls (and to finance everything that comes with it) and to have professional (video) recordings and professional photographs made.
We would be extremely grateful if you would support our ensemble by making a donation. Of course we will give you nice rewards in return!
Many thanks in advance!
Ensemble Orochi.
