My name is Joel Siepmann and I have been playing the cello for almost 26 years now and it is safe to say that it is one of the most steady companions in my life and also my passion and profession.

Through my career I had played on various instruments and for the last four years I have had the pleasure of playing on a phenomenal Italian instrument loaned to me by the Royal Academy of Music in London where I studied from 2016-2018.
Unfortunately I had to return the cello in 2020 and I had been searching for a new instrument since.

The Find:

A few months ago I have finally found my absolute dream instrument: A beautiful French cello from 1760 made by Ludovic Guersan in Paris. When I first tried the instrument in the workshop I immediately fell in love with it. It responds so well to my playing and I am incredibly inspired by its profound sound with an incredible depth and warmth. The cello is also very versatile as it has both great projection and also a balanced range of sounds, so it blends and matches wonderfully with other instruments.

The Match:

This combination makes it the perfect instrument for me:
All my life I have played in different chamber music ensembles and orchestras. Since two years I am the principal cellist of the world famous Metropole Orkest where I need these qualities in an instrument. I am member of a cello/string section where the blend is crucial, but occasionally I also have to play a solo part for which I need this kind of projection and radiance.
I am also member of the cello quartet Metrocelli (the 4 cellists of the Metropole Orkest) and member of the prize winning piano trio Trio Opal. Versatility is my strength and this cello matches this tremendously.

The Goal:

Unfortunately the prices of instruments like this have skyrocketed in the past decades and it is very difficult for the individual musician to pay the whole prize of the instrument on their own.

Therefore I am looking to finance a part of the cellos prize through this crowdfunding campaign. And for this I need your support. With your help I will be able to complete the purchase of this phenomenal cello and the dream of calling it my own will finally come true.

Introductie:

Mijn naam is Joel Siepmann en ik speel nu bijna 26 jaar cello en het is veilig om te zeggen dat het een van de meest vaste metgezellen in mijn leven is en ook mijn passie en beroep.

Tijdens mijn carrière heb ik op verschillende instrumenten gespeeld en de afgelopen vier jaar heb ik het genoegen gehad om op een fenomenaal Italiaans instrument te spelen dat me werd uitgeleend door de Royal Academy of Music in Londen, waar ik studeerde van 2016-2018.

Helaas heb ik de cello in 2020 moeten retourneren en sindsdien was ik op zoek naar een nieuw instrument.

Het „Find“:

Een paar maanden geleden heb ik eindelijk mijn absolute droominstrument gevonden: een prachtige Franse cello uit 1760 gemaakt door Ludovic Guersan in Parijs. Toen ik het instrument voor het eerst in de werkplaats uitprobeerde, was ik er meteen verliefd op. Het reageert zo goed op mijn spel en ik ben ongelooflijk geïnspireerd door zijn diepe geluid met een ongelooflijke diepte en warmte. De cello is ook erg veelzijdig omdat hij zowel een geweldige projectie heeft als een gebalanceerd klankbereik, dus hij past perfect bij andere instrumenten.

De „Match“:

Deze combinatie maakt het voor mij het perfecte instrument:

Mijn hele leven heb ik in verschillende kamermuziekensembles en orkesten gespeeld. Sinds twee jaar ben ik de eerste cellist van het wereldberoemde Metropole Orkest waar ik deze kwaliteiten nodig heb in een instrument. Ik ben lid van een cello/strijkerssectie waar de blend cruciaal is, maar af en toe moet ik ook een solopartij spelen waarvoor ik dit soort projectie en uitstraling nodig heb.

Daarnaast ben ik lid van het cellokwartet Metrocelli (de 4 cellisten van het Metropole Orkest) en lid van het prijswinnende pianotrio Trio Opal. Veelzijdigheid is mijn kracht en deze cello past daar uitstekend bij.

Het doel:

Helaas zijn de prijzen van dit soort instrumenten de afgelopen decennia enorm gestegen en is het erg moeilijk voor de individuele muzikant om de hele prijs van het instrument in zijn eentje te betalen.

Daarom wil ik via deze crowdfundingsactie een deel van de celloprijs financieren. En daarvoor heb ik uw steun nodig. Met uw hulp zal ik de aankoop van deze fenomenale cello kunnen voltooien en zal de droom om hem de mijne te noemen eindelijk uitkomen.

Introduktion:

Mein Name ist Joel Siepmann und ich spiele seit mittlerweile über 26 Jahren das Cello und man kann sagen, dass das Instrument einer meiner beständigsten Partner in meinem Leben ist. Sowohl Profession als auch Leidenschaft.

Meine ganze Karriere lang habe ich auf verschiedenen Instrumenten gespielt und in den letzten 4 Jahren hatte ich das Glück auf einem fantastischen Instrument zu spielen, das mir von der Royal Academy of Music London geliehen wurde.

Leider musste ich das Cello vor einiger Zeit zurückgeben und war seitdem auf der Suche nach einem neuen Instrument.

Die Suche:

Vor einigen Monaten habe ich endlich mein „Traum-Instrument“ gefunden: Ein tolles Französisches Cello gebaut 1760 von Ludovica Guersan in Paris.

Als ich das erste Mal das Instrument im Atelier spielte, war ich sofort hin und weg. Es reagiert bestens auf mein Spiel und ich bin durch den tief gehenden und warmen Klang sehr inspiriert. Das cello ist auch sehr vielseitig. Es hat sowohl Tragweite als auch Balance. Es mischt sich dadurch sehr gut mit anderen Instrumenten, kann aber auch solistisch klingen.

Der „Match“

Diese Kombination macht es für mich zum perfekten Instrument:

Mein Leben lang habe ich in verschiedensten Kammermusik Ensembles und Orchestern gespielt. Seit zweieinhalb Jahren bin ich Solo-Cellist des weltbekannten Metropole Orkests. In diesem Job brauche ich diese Qualitäten unbedingt. Als Teil der Streicher bzw. Cello-Gruppe ist das sogenannte „blending“ (Mischen des Klangs mit anderen) essenziell, aber für die eine oder andere Solo-Passage brauche ich eben auch den weit tragenden solistischen Klang.

Ich bin auch Mitglied des Cello Quartetts Metrocelli (die vier Cellisten des Metropole Orkestras) und Mitglied des Klaviertrios Trio Opal.

Ich denke, dass Vielseitigkeit meine Stärke ist und das Cello hilft mir dabei enorm.

Das Ziel:

Leider gehen die Preise für solche Instrumente schon seit geraumer Zeit durch die Decke und es ist extrem schwierig für uns Musiker den gesamten Preis aus eigener Kasse zu bezahlen. Darum versuche ich einen Teil des Preises durch diese Crowdfunding-Kampagne zu finanzieren. Und dafür brauche ich Eure/Ihre Unterstützung. Mit dieser Hilfe werde ich in der Lage sein den letzten Restdes Preises zu bezahlen und dieses fantastische Cello mein Eigen zu nennen.
