Wij zijn Platform Nexus, een groep podiumkunstenaars met een gedeelde voorliefde voor ruimtelijk en fysiek werk. Sinds kort beheren wij samen een grote loods op Het Domijn in Weesp, waar we een makersplaats zullen opzetten voor onszelf en andere makers.
Nexus is ons artistieke thuis, de ruimte waarin wij kunnen experimenteren en ons artistiek handschrift kunnen ontwikkelen. Tijdens het maken van onze (individuele) projecten, zoeken wij creatieve steun in en verbinding met elkaar. Wij geloven dat dit al kan gebeuren, puur door een ruimte met elkaar te delen. Door naast elkaar te werken en bouwen, verwachten wij het ontstaan van verrassende samenwerkingen en inspirerende ontmoetingen. Tussen de kernleden vinden deze ontmoetingen op dagelijkse basis plaats, maar wij breidden deze ontmoeting graag ook uit naar andere jonge makers, lokale ondernemingen en publiek - in de vorm van samenwerkingen, workshops en evenementen.
Nexus is voor ons een plek waar we alle fases van een creatief maakproces zelf kunnen faciliteren; waar we kunnen werken, bouwen, repeteren en presenteren. Het wordt een plek met vele mogelijkheden; met iedere samenwerking en ieder project kan de ruimte veranderen. Van theaterzaal tot atelier, montagestudio en kantoor. Met jouw hulp kunnen we onze nu nog bijna lege loods gaan verbouwen.
Wat gaan we bouwen?

De Studio: dit wordt een repetitieruimte/dansstudio met spiegels, gordijnen, een verende dansvloer en geluidsapparatuur. Het is de plek waar we kunnen repeteren, onderzoek kunnen doen of workshops kunnen geven. Ook kan deze zaal omgebouwd worden tot black-box theaterzaal, zodat er kleine zaal voorstellingen aan publiek getoond kunnen worden.

De Grote Ruimte: met een oppervlakte 100 m2 en plafonds van 6,5 meter hoog, is dit de ruimte met de meeste mogelijkheden. In de Grote Ruimte zal vooral gemaakt, gerepeteerd, gemonteerd en gebouwd worden. Hier kunnen ruimtelijke installaties worden tentoongesteld, exposities worden gehouden, grotere voorstellingen worden getoond en evenementen worden georganiseerd.

De Werkplaats: hier zullen werkbanken, gereedschap, machines en materialen aanwezig zijn, die door iedereen die in de ruimte werkt kunnen worden gebruikt.

Het Atelier: een ruimte met tekentafels, potloden, papieren en andere materialen. Hier kunnen we onze projecten ontwerpen, voordat we aan het bouwen beginnen.

Het Kantoor: dit wordt een ruimte met verschillende bureaus, werkplekken en banken. Ook zullen we hier een toilet en een keukentje bouwen. Dit wordt een ruimte van reflectie; een ruimte waar we elkaar kunnen vertellen over waar we mee bezig zijn, waar we kunnen uitademen en elkaar in die adem kunnen steunen, vinden en inspireren.
Wij zullen zelf een groot deel van de verbouwing op ons nemen: binnen de kernleden van het platform zitten een aantal handige decorbouwers, installatiekunstenaars en technici. De verbouwing zullen wij zo veel mogelijk circulair inzetten. Dat betekent dat we van verschillende lokale industrie- en bouwplaatsen tweedehands- en restmateriaal (hout, glas, staal, etc.) zullen overnemen.
Uit wild enthousiasme hebben we al een kleine start gemaakt met de bouw, maar onze loods is nog verre van af. Om dit alles tot een goed einde te leiden (het bouwen van muren, verwarming, isolatie, keuken, toilet, vloeren en techniek) hebben we jouw hulp nodig! Doneer, en maak een nieuw kunstenplatform voor jonge kunstenaars mogelijk; een artistiek huis, voor onszelf en anderen.
Wie zijn wij?
Platform Nexus bestaat uit een vaste kerngroep van zeven jonge podiumkunstenaars, die zich bewegen in de werelden van theater, performance, beeldende kunst, muziek, installatiekunst en theatereducatie.

Help start Platform Nexus: a new artistic makerspace in Weesp, where young artists will meet each other. With your help, we can renovate our currently empty warehouse into a theatre hall, workspace and dance studio.
We are Platform Nexus, a group of theatre makers with a shared love for spatial and physical work. Recently, we have moved into a large warehouse at Het Domijn in Weesp, where we will build a makerspace for ourselves and other makers.
Nexus is our artistic home, a space in which we can experiment and develop our artistic signature. While making our (individual) projects, we seek creative support in and connection with each other. We believe that this can already be found through solely sharing a space. By working and building next to one another, we expect surprising collaborations and inspiring encounters to happen. Between the core members of Nexus, these encounters will take place on a daily basis, but we would also like to extend this practice to other young makers, local businesses and audiences - in the form of collaborations, workshops and events.
For us, Nexus is a place where we can facilitate all phases of a creative making process ourselves; where we can work, build, rehearse and present. To be able to realize this, we are rebuilding our warehouse into a workshop, a studio, a theatre-/montage-hall and an office space. Out of wild enthusiasm, we have already started building. But, to bring it all to fruition, we need you. Donate, and make a new art-platform for young makers possible, an artistic home for ourselves and others.
What will we build?

The Studio: this will be a rehearsal space / dance studio with mirrors, a dance floor and sound equipment. It is the place where we can rehearse, do research or give workshops. This room also has the possibility to transform into a black box theatre, where performances can be shared with audiences.

The Big Space: with a surface of 100 m2 and ceilings of 6,5 meters high, this will be the space with the most possibilities. In The Big Space, we will mostly make, rehearse and build. Here, we can exhibit spatial installations, curate exhibitions, show larger performances and organise events.

The Workshop: here, one can find various materials, tools and machines that can be used by anyone working in the space.

The Atelier: a space with drawing tables, pencils, papers and other materials. Here, we can design our projects, before we start building it.

The Office: this will be a space with desks, workstations and couches. Also, here we will build a small kitchenette and a toilet. The Office will be a space of reflection and research; a space where we can tell one another about what we are working on, where we can breathe and support, encounter and inspire one another in that breath.
For the bigger part, we will renovate the space ourselves: a few of the core members of the platform are handy set designers, installation artists and technicians. We will renovate through a circular approach, as much as possible. This means that we will build with residual materials (wood, glass, steel, etc.) from various local industrial and construction sites.
Out of wild enthusiasm, we have already started building. But, to bring it all to fruition, we need you. Donate, and make a new art-platform for young makers possible, an artistic home for ourselves and others.
