Het buigen van vele en diverse punten

Van 8 t/m 10 mei presenteert de ArtScience Interfaculty klas van 2020: MANIFOLDS - een meeslepend en multi-sensorieel preview-evenement.
Bij ArtScience, een faculteit aan de Hogeschool der Kunsten Den Haag, delen we een passie om nieuwe technologieën in te zetten als middel om de verbeelding te prikkelen en te experimenteren. (Voor meer informatie over de ArtScience Interfaculty kunt u hier de website bezoeken)

Wij zijn 23 afstuderende studenten uit 14 verschillende landen met diverse achtergronden en wij komen samen tijdens deze collectieve tentoonstelling, dat zal bestaan uit interdisciplinaire werken die verschillende media gebruiken als:
• geluid
• tast
• licht
• beweging
• installaties
• performances
• muziek

ONZE MANIFOLD
Elk jaar organiseren de afstuderende studenten van de ArtScience Interfaculty een ‘preview show’ waar ze een kans krijgen om hun werk te tonen aan een breder publiek voor ze afstuderen. Het thema van de voorvertoning van dit jaar is ‘Manifolds’, een term die verwijst naar o.a. een verzameling van punten in de wiskunde. ArtScience is een (levend) netwerk dat uit verschillende punten bestaat. In de nieuwe punten in de topologische ruimte tussen kunst, wetenschap en technologie, creëren de toekomstige ArtScientists een eigen hybride manifold. Door de overweldigende zintuigen en informatie op te vouwen tot één liminaal punt, een onbekend en ongebonden punt, nemen wij, buigmachines, experimentalisten en 'shape-shifters', jou mee naar nieuwe ervaarbare vormen en ruimtes tijdens deze driedaagse tentoonstelling.

• Huur van de geweldige locaties De Besturing en Optie B te Den Haag
• Huur van benodigde apparatuur
• Het programma van lezingen en workshops (ArtScience alumni en professionals uit het veld)

MISSIE
We vinden deze preview show een uitstekende gelegenheid om ons te uiten en zichtbaar te maken voor de rest van de lokale, nationale en internationale culturele kringen. De interessante balans tussen onze groep met opkomende en meer gevestigde kunstenaars zal werken als een goed platform om onze nieuwste experimenten en werken te presenteren waarbij we het publiek actief willen betrekken, door mee te denken en kritiek te uiten op deze nieuwe ontwikkelingen en de mogelijke sociale waarde daarvan.

FINANCIERING
Voor Manifolds zoeken we steun van ons nationaal en internationaal netwerk. Op het moment genieten we steun van de Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten, Den Haag. We hebben met een aantal evenementen al een kleine bijdrage weten te werven maar we hopen met de crowdfund actie bij Voordekunst Manifolds te kunnen bekostigen. Daarom vragen wij uw hulp om ons doel van 5000 euro te behalen en zo onze vele manifolds te helpen realiseren. Manifolds heeft geen winst oogmerk en zal gratis te bezoeken zijn.

SAMENWERKING

MANIFOLDS
Bending many and various points

On May 8-10th 2020, the graduating students of the ArtScience Interfaculty will present: MANIFOLDS - an immersive and multi-sensorial art exhibition.
In ArtScience, a faculty of the University of the Arts The Hague, we share an interest in using modern technologies as a tool for fuelling imaginative and experimental processes. (visit the ArtScience Interfaculty here)

We are 23 individuals from 14 different countries with various areas of expertise, coming together for this collective show that will consist of interdisciplinary works exploring different mediums such as:
• sound
• touch
• light
• motion
• installations
• performances
• music

OUR MANIFOLD
Each year, the students of the ArtScience Interfaculty host a preview show where they have a chance to showcase their work to a public audience before graduating.The theme of this year's preview show is ‘Manifolds’, a term referred to i.a. a collection of points in mathematics. ArtScience is a self-referential organism that consists of different points. As new points deployed in the topological space in between Art, Science and Technology, the prospective ArtScientists are creating a hybrid manifold of our own. Folding the overwhelming senses and information into one liminal point, a point unknown and unbound, the curiosity driven experiments and outcomes of us benders, experimentalists and shape-shifters will take you to shapes and spaces of new experiences during this three-day exhibition.

HOW WILL YOUR DONATIONS HELP US?
You will contribute the following to the production of Manifolds;
• Rental of the wonderful locations De Besturing and Optie B in The Hague
• Rental of necessary equipment for the show
• Program of speakers (ArtScience alumni and professionals in the field)

MISSION
We find this preview an excellent opportunity to voice and make ourselves visible to the rest of the local, national and international cultural scene. The dynamic balance among our group with upcoming young artists and more established ones will form a riveting new platform for showcasing our latest experiments and works. And with that we invite the audience to become actively engaged to be critical, to give feedback, to reflect with us on the social value of art.

FINANCING
We are reaching out to our national and international network for support in public communications and relations for the exposition. We are currently sponsored by our the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague. As well as having generated some income from fundraising events, we feel that we can generate the most income to cover our costs by crowdfunding, so we ask you to help contribute to reach our target of 5000 euros and help us complete our many manifolds.
The event is a non-profit, co-funded and co-supported program that will be accessible free-of-charge.
