Aiming for 190%

We waren verrukt om te zien dat we binnen nauwelijks 10 dagen door donaties van meer dan 250 mensen al het volledige bedrag van 10.000 euro binnen hebben, onze nieuwe versterker is 100% gefinancierd!
Dit overtrof onze stoutste dromen en ontzettend veel dank aan iedereen die al een donatie heeft gemaakt! Omdat we toch boven alles een DIY plek zijn hebben we maar om beperkte hulp gevraagd, het gestelde streefbedrag was het absolute minimum dat we nodig hebben.
Ons werd door Voor de Kunst aangeboden om het huidige doel te verhogen, dit zou ons de kans kunnen geven om meer te investeren in de akoestiek van de ruimte. Wanneer dit lukt, kunnen we duurzame investeren in nieuwe monitoren, mixer, enkele nieuwe microfoons en kabels die allemaal nodig zijn om de geluidservaring te verbeteren. Zowel voor onze bezoekers als artiesten!
Het werkelijke budget om het geluid en de akoestiek goed aan te pakken zou neerkomen op 19.000 euro. Met nog 30 dagen te gaan tijdens onze crowdfunding campagne, en met nog veel benefieten die worden georganiseerd in de stad (op plekken als MKZ, filmhuis Cavia, OCCII en Volta) hebben we dan ook besloten om te kijken of we ons volledige wensenlijstje voor geluid bij elkaar kunnen krijgen - dus dit wordt ons nieuwe doel!

Hoort! luistert! wacht niet tot de versterker fluistert. Help OCCII aan een nieuw geluid... de préhistorie uit.
OCCII heeft nieuw geluid nodig! De versterkers van de PA zijn inmiddels zo oud dat ze geheel vervangen moeten worden. Dit is een dure grap en daarom hebben we jullie hulp nodig! Terwijl we deze actie aan het opzetten waren, is in de nacht van 5 mei ingebroken, enorme schade aangericht en al het contant geld buitgemaakt. De kleine reserve die wij zelf hadden voor dit project is daarmee in rook opgegaan. Dat maakt de situatie alleen maar dringender en jouw steun des te belangrijker!

Geluidssysteem

Het huidige geluidssysteem van OCCII is oud. Ongeveer 20 jaar geleden is het systeem tweedehands overgenomen. We hebben destijds veel geluk gehad met het op de kop tikken van dit geluidssysteem - de kwaliteit ervan is namelijk, na alles wat het te verduren heeft gekregen bij ons, nog steeds super hoog! Maar een aantal onderdelen zijn aan vervanging toe, en dat moet spoedig gebeuren voor het te laat is.
De versterker is ondertussen zo oud dat er geen nieuwe onderdelen meer worden gemaakt. Dit betekent dat als ook maar het kleinste onderdeeltje kapot gaat, de versterkers à la minute in zijn geheel vervangen moeten worden. In dat geval zullen alle concerten in OCCII uitgesteld moeten worden tot er genoeg geld is voor nieuwe versterkers. We willen dit voor zijn!
Het spaargeld dat wij ooit hadden is opgegaan aan de grondige renovatie van de vloer en de voorgevel. Dit waren destijds flinke kosten. Maar samen met jouw steun kan OCCII de nieuwe versterkers alsnog aanschaffen.

Belang van nieuw geluid voor OCCII

OCCII heeft als underground muziek podium altijd in de voorhoede van vernieuwend geluid gestaan. Wat ooit een paardentramremise was, dient sinds 1992 als plek voor kunst, creativiteit en andere geluiden.
De programmering is dwars en veel lokale subculturen vinden er een plek. Vrijwel de gehele organisatie wordt draaiende gehouden door vrijwilligers die dit doen uit liefde voor de underground en muziek. Zowel veel lokale als internationale artiesten hebben warme herinneringen aan deze bijzondere locatie; denk aan Thurston Moore, Lighting Bolt, Lydia Lunch, Zu, SMIB en vele anderen.

Reservepot leeg

In de nacht van zondag 5 mei is er ingebroken bij OCCII, waarbij al het geld uit de kluis is buitgemaakt. Naast het geldbedrag dat werd buitgemaakt heeft OCCII flink wat schade geleden. Aan reparatie en compensatie van de schade gaat nu de hele reservepot op. Geld dat eerst bestemd was voor nieuwe geluidsapparatuur. Daarom is besloten het bedrag van de crowdfunding te verhogen naar €10.000. Het totaalbedrag voor nieuwe amplifiers wordt ongeveer €14.000. Het oorspronkelijke plan was om de helft van dat bedrag via jullie donaties binnen te halen, en de andere helft uit onze eigen reservemiddelen te halen. Maar helaas is er dus terwijl we bezig waren deze actie op te zetten roet in het eten gegooid. Maar we hebben er alle vertrouwen in genoeg geld te kunnen binnenhalen om dit alsnog voor elkaar te krijgen!

Als we het streefbedrag halen, wat dan?

Het streefbedrag voor deze crowdfunding, is precies wat we nodig hebben om de nieuwe versterkers überhaupt te kunnen aanschaffen. Als we dat bedrag bereiken, willen we alle verdere donaties daarna ook investeren in het geluid van OCCII. We willen bijvoorbeeld ook al jaren nieuwe monitoren en een nieuwe mixer aanschaffen, wat samen snel nog bijna €20.000 kost. Zo'n bedrag is misschien wel erg ver gezocht, maar we kunnen altijd hopen. Hoe dan ook zullen we er natuurlijk zorg voor dragen dat iedereens donatie ingezet zal worden als investering op de toekomst van OCCII.

Hoe kan ik bijdragen en wat krijg ik ervoor terug?

Je kunt een donatie maken op deze pagina, Je vindt aan de rechterzijde een lijst met opties. Je kunt kiezen voor een donatie zonder tegenprestatie, maar we hebben ook een paar leuke tegenprestaties beschikbaar. Deze zijn mede mogelijk gemaakt door organisaties en partijen die ons een warm hart toedragen. Je kunt bijvoorbeeld een A2 afdruk kopen van het huidige behang dat OCCII siert, of een rondleiding met proeverij voor 10 mensen krijgen bij onze favoriete brouwerij Butcher's Tears. Verder nodigt OCCII om de zoveel tijd iemand uit om een nieuw behang voor in de zaal te ontwerpen. Ditmaal kan jij misschien wel bepalen wat er te hangen komt!

Als je liever fysiek geld bijdraagt staat er gedurende de campagne in OCCII ook een donatiepot. Daarnaast vinden er tijdens de periode dat deze actie loopt in de stad op andere culturele plekken ook benefieten plaats waar je fysiek kunt doneren. Op 3 mei was er al een geweldige crowdfunding-preparty in de Vondelbunker.

100% funded and still 30 days to go??!!
We’ve been surprised and thrilled to see that within hardly 10 days into the campaign through donations from more than 250 people to have already the full amount of 10.00 euro we asked for, our campaign is 100% funded!
This surpassed our wildest dreams and we thank everyone that has already made a donation! However, being a DIY venue we have been humble in asking our supporters for financial help. The goal we set up is the bare minimum we need.
We decided to raise the current goal, it could give us the change to invest into the acoustics of the space. When viable we could then invest in new monitors, mixer, some new durable mics and cables all needed to increase the sound experience at the venue. For our visitors and performers alike!
The actual realistic budget to renovate the sound and acoustics would come down to 19.000 euro. We still have 30 days to go, and there are many benefits being organised throughout Amsterdam in June (events at OCCII, Volta, filmhuis Cavia, MKZ to name a few). This is why now our new aim is to get our complete sound wishlist funded!
Our story:OCCII needs a new sound system! The amps are currently so outdated that they'll need to be entirely replaced. However, that will be very expensive and that's why we'll need your help! Even more unfortunate, while we were preparing for this crowdfunding, on the night of May 5th, OCCII was robbed of all its cash money at the venue. Apart from this loss, there was a lot of damage done to the building - to repair this it will set us back even more in our saving reserves. The money we put aside to partially fund the new sound system is now completely depleted because of this. That makes the situation only more urgent and that's why your support is even more needed!
Sound systemThe current sound system of OCCII is old. About 20 years ago we managed to get this system second hand. We were at that time very fortunate with obtaining such a sound system – the quality of it is still very high, even after having endured OCCII for such a long time. However, it still needs to be replaced before it's too late. By now, the amplifiers are so outdated that there aren't any manufacturers anymore that make replacement parts. This means that if even the smallest component breaks, the amplifiers will need to be completely replaced. In that case, all concerts at OCCII will be put on hold until there's enough money for new amps. We do not want to wait for that to happen! The reserves we once had were spent on thorough renovations of the floor and façade. This totalled to a lot of costs for OCCII at the time and depleted our reserves. But with your support we can still get new amplifiers.
Importance of a new sound at OCCIIOCCII has always been at the front lines of new innovative sound. Which was once a horse tram coach house, has since 1992 been used as a space for diverse sounds.The programming has always been diverse, and many local subcultures have found their place here. Almost the entire organization is being run by volunteers that do this out of love for the underground and music. Not just local but also international artist have wonderful memories of this special location; such as Thurston Moore, Lighting Bolt, Lydia Lunch, Zu, SMIB and many others.
Reserves depletedIn the night of Sunday the 5th of May, OCCII was robbed, and all the money from the safe was stolen. Besides, the money that was lost, OCCII also suffered a lot in damages to the building. In order to compensate this, we had to deplete all our reserves, which were first also put aside for the new sound system. That's why we had to raise the crowdfund goal to €10.000. The total amount for acquiring new amplifiers will be about €14.000. The original plan was to collect half of the amount through your donations and to pay the rest with our reserves, but this is sadly not possible anymore due to the robbery and its damages. However, we have confidence that we'll manage to get enough support and succeed after all!
If we complete our goal, then what?The goal for this crowdfund campaign is the exact amount we need to be able to acquire new amplifiers. If we succeed in reaching this goal we want to use the rest of the donations to further improve the sound at OCCII. We furthermore also have the dream for years to obtain new monitors and a new mixer, which will be about €20.000 altogether. Such an amount is probably a bit too far fetched, but we have our dreams. In any case we will guarantee that every donation will be invested in the future of OCCII.
How can I contribute and what do I get in return?You can make a donation on this page, on the right-side you'll find a list with different options. You can also decide to donate without a compensation, but we did mange to make some lovely options available for you. This is made possible by some organizations that also support us. It's possible to buy a A2 print of our current wallpaper, or a tour and beer tasting session for 10 people at our favorite brewery Butcher's Tears. Furthermore, OCCII invites someone new from time to time to design our wallpaper, this time you can be the one to decide it for us!If you rather physically donate money during the campaign, there will be a donation pot at OCCII as well. Besides that, there will be some other actions in the city during the campaign, such as benefits at other cultural spaces where you can also physically donate.
