ABOUT ME
Im an Australian who has been living in the Netherlands since 1992. Ive been recording and releasing music for over 30 years. I started out in the early 80's as a bass player with an Australian pop/folk band called WILD PUMPKINS AT MIDNIGHT (1983-1998; 8 albums). I have since produced records for my own former band BIG LOW (2001-2011; 4 albums) and was also in the same period the bassist in a world music band group called PARNE GADJE (2001 - 2014; 7 albums). Ive had experience at pretty much every level of the music industry from management and bookings, to sound engineering/producing through to composing and performing. In 2017 I released my first completely solo album. OOR referred to it as a "meesterwerk" and over the last 2 years Ive done some very cool shows on the back of that record including Doornroosje, The Rambling Roots Festival in Tivoli, Paradiso and 2 very succesful tours of my native country Australia.

THE PLAN: WHY CROWDFUNDING?
It feels like the right time for me now to follow up on the success of my 2017 solo album and finish my 2nd solo album. I have a great crew of musicians around me who love performing with me and I enjoy supporting them as professional musicians.
Every record I have made till now has been funded mainly by myself, often with help from a record label or distributor of physical product, who would re-invest proceeds from sales into my next project. This model doesn't work anymore. The balance has shifted and the financial risk for the artist is bigger. Listening to music online is something we all benefit from, but royalties (payments to artists) from streaming services currently run at about 0,0007 cent per listen. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to work out what that means for recording artists, especially independent artists like myself. However, making a good record still costs a lot of money. And people still want to buy physical product from me at shows. Physical product is expensive to make. Im hoping some of you can support me by sharing the weight of that production risk with me. By helping me get this record out in physical form (vinyl & cd) you will also be helping to put me and my musicians back on the stage!

WHAT EXACTLY DO I NEED YOUR MONEY FOR?
The studio sessions are finished and the album is currently being mixed and mastered. I am covering these costs myself. I want your support to help cover the costs of manufacturing CDs and vinyl that I can sell at shows to get some return on my investment. I also need a budget for promotion; think of things like the expenses of creating youtube clips, artwork, posters, online advertising costs and mail-outs. All of this on top of manufacturing, which is very costly in itself, really starts to add up. In a way, Im actually asking you, my fans and supporters, to become my record company! This way I can afford to stay independent.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
Any donation of €15 or more will be repaid with a signed CD. From €25 upward you will get a signed vinyl LP. I like to think of these starting amounts as you helping me out with pre-sales. For donations higher up the scale I have a range of surprises including tickets to my album release concert, backstage passes at club gigs and performances in your living room or at a venue of your choice.
