WIE IS HIER ZUHAUSE?

Wij. Davey, Grey, Mirjam en Élénie zijn de oprichters van het interdisciplinaire collectief ZUHAUSE gesitueerd in Groningen. Bij gebrek aan werkruimte openden wij in 2017 ons eigen kunstenaarshuis midden in de stad! Een artistiek thuis genaamd: ZUHAUSE. Sindsdien ontwikkelen wij vanuit hier ons eigen artistieke en maatschappelijke werk en gaan nu nog een stap verder: ZUHAUSE internationaal op de kaart zetten. En met JULLIE HULP verwezenlijken wij in het aankomende jaar onze grootste mijlpaal: 'ZUHAUSE on wheels'.

Een artistieke, drie maand durende reis met een camper dwars door Europa. Op zoek naar menselijkheid.

WAT IS DEZE MISSIE EXACT?

Centraal thema binnen ons werk is 'Survival of the misfit', een ode aan de onaangepasten van deze wereld:

• ZUHAUSE wil verhalen van mensen dwars door Europa verzamelen
• ZUHAUSE wil op zoek gaan naar 'menselijkheid' binnen onze huidige samenleving
• ZUHAUSE wil de schoonheid van 'anders zijn' zichtbaar maken

WAAR GAAT DE REIS HEEN EN WAT GAAN WE DOEN?

De uitgestippelde route leidt ons dwars door Europa: van de Sami-stammen in Scandinavië, via de Roma in Moldavië, naar de overbelaste vluchtelingenkampen in Griekenland gaat ZUHAUSE op zoek naar verhalen die verteld moeten worden. In een getransformeerde bus genaamd 'ZUHAUSE on wheels' zal Élénie Wagner ,geïnspireerd op deze verhalen, haar debuutalbum componeren en uitbrengen, worden bijbehorende muziekvideo’s opgenomen, lanceren wij een filmische documentaire en werken wij toe naar een interdisciplinaire liveshow onder de titel 'ALL'.

WAT HEEFT ZUHAUSE VAN MIJ NODIG?

Om mensen met deze verhalen te kunnen bezoeken heeft het vierkoppige collectief een eigen 'ZUHAUSE on wheels' nodig. Deze camper zal geheel door ons worden verbouwd. Drie maanden lang zullen wij in deze bus leven, reizen, contact maken, verbinden, muziek creëren en alles filmisch vastleggen.
De bus is tevens de verzamelplek voor al onze ervaringen, de huiskamer voor alle interviews met de mensen die wij op reis ontmoeten en bevat een portable muziekstudio zodat Élénie on the road kan werken aan het album. Daarnaast fungeert de camper als rijdende expositie, die wij na onze reis in heel Nederland open zullen stellen: met souvenirs uit verschillende culturen, foto’s, previews van de film en speciale maaltijden bereid door collectieflid en kookkunstenaar Grey Timmers.

De naam van dit overkoepelende interdisciplinaire project is ÉLIËN, geïnspireerd op de naam van collectieflid Élénie Wagner én op de grootste misfit aller tijden: de alien.

WAT MAAK IK MET MIJN DONATIE MOGELIJK?

De voorbereidingen zijn al in volle gang maar deze crowdfunding helpt ons over de belangrijkste drempel en zorgt ervoor dat we:

• een camper kunnen aanschaffen die vier mensen en ons hondje Antonio kan herbergen
• deze kunnen verbouwen tot artistiek en duurzaam thuis met een eigen muziekstudio, een keuken en zonnepanelen op het dak
• het fundament voor de liveshow 'ÉLIËN' kunnen leggen

WHO IS ZUHAUSE?

We are! Davey, Grey, Mirjam, and Élénie are the founders of ZUHAUSE: An interdisciplinary artist collective from Groningen, the Netherlands. Groningen was lacking a platform for artistic workspaces, so in 2017 we started brainstorming and opened our very own artist house in the middle of the city centre. ZUHAUSE (German for 'home') was born. We have been developing our own artistic and social work within this house and now it's time for the next step: We're going international! And with YOUR HELP we're looking to accomplish our biggest milestone yet: 'ZUHAUSE on wheels'!

An artistic journey, traveling through Europe for three months in our own camper van, looking for humanity.

WHAT IS OUR MISSION EXACTLY?

The central theme of our work is 'Survival of the misfit', an ode to the unadapted of our world:

• ZUHAUSE wants to collect stories from people from all over Europe
• ZUHAUSE wants to find 'humanity' in our current society
• ZUHAUSE wants to show the beauty of 'being different'

WHERE ARE WE GOING AND WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?

Our trip will take us across Europe: From the Sami tribes in Scandinavia, to the Roma in Moldova, and the overloaded refugee camps in Greece. Along the way ZUHAUSE will be looking for stories that have to be told. In a custom built camper van, called 'ZUHAUSE on wheels', Élénie Wagner will compose and release her debut album inspired by the stories we find. Music videos will be shot during the trip, as well as a documentary of the journey. All of this will culminate in an interdisciplinary live show called 'ALL'.

WHY DOES ZUHAUSE NEED ME?

In order to visit the people with the stories we're looking for, our four-headed collective needs their 'ZUHAUSE on wheels'. We'll rebuild this camper van ourselves so that it will provide us with everything we need to live, travel, meet, connect, make music, and document for three months.

The van also serves as a living room for the interviews with the people we meet on our travels. Furthermore, it will contain a portable music studio so Élénie can work on her album on the road. On top of that, the van will be a mobile exhibition space containing collectables, souvenirs, pictures, previews and special meals cooked by our very own collective member and food artist Grey Timmers. We'll open the doors of our van to the public once we're back in the Netherlands.

A SMALL SIDENOTE
The name of the overarching interdisciplinary project for 'ZUHAUSE on wheels' is 'ÉLIËN' (which in Dutch is phonetically identical to English 'alien'), inspired by collective member Élénie Wagner's name as well as by the most well known misfit of all times: the alien.

• buy a camper van with the capacity for four humans and their dog Antonio
• rebuild this van into a sustainable artistic home with a music studio, a kitchen and solar panels
