Ons project is een bijzonder culturele en muzikale uitwisseling tussen een inheemse klassieke geschoolde pianist uit Guatemala, het land van de Maya’s, en de meesterpianist en componist uit Nederland met Molukse roots.

Wie zijn wij?

Ik ben Monique Vreeken en ik heb 15 jaar met de Maya’s in Guatemala gewoond. Sinds een paar jaar ben ik terug in Nederland en creëer ik de mogelijkheid om mensen met elkaar te verbinden uit diverse culturen.

Salvador Chavajay, klassiek pianist, komt uit een Maya dorp in Guatemala, waar de basiselementen van klassieke muziek en de piano niet echt bestaan.

Salvador begon als traditionele muzikant en op jonge leeftijd mocht hij naar het conservatorium in Guatemala Stad. Na Cum laude te zijn afgestudeerd, kreeg Salvador een stipendium om naar het conservatorium in Montreal, Canada te gaan. Nu is het zijn droom om zijn Maya cultuur te combineren met de klassieke muziek, die geworteld is in Europa. Daarom ben ik voor Salvador opzoek gegaan naar een gespecialiseerde piano coach, die ook haar 'muzikale roots' heeft gecombineerd.

Mariëtte Hehakaya, pianiste en componiste, begon op zeer jonge leeftijd haar carrière, waardoor zij haar sporen reeds verdiend heeft in binnen- en buitenland. Naast deze carrière en haar lespraktijk, heeft zij zich ook gespecialiseerd in piano coaching aan hoog sensitieve personen en talenten met een bijzondere beperking.

Haar perfectionisme, talenten en synesthesie brachten Mariëtte Hehakaya tot het oprichten van de Stichting Colour of Sound. Deze stichting bevordert het uitdragen en uitvoeren van schone kunsten, muziek in het bijzonder; harmonische samenspel in klank en kleur.

Colour of Sound masterclass

Mariëtte Hehakaya heeft een speciaal programma opgesteld voor een een-op-een masterclass voor Salvador Chavajay, van vier uur piano coaching per dag gedurende de maand augustus. In deze masterclass zal Salvador leren zijn eigen kleur technisch en melodisch uit te dragen door inzicht te krijgen in zijn pianospel en nieuwe kennis op te doen van de westerse pianomuziek. Mariëtte Hehakaya verstaat een verfijning van de klank door eigen culturele diversiteit.

De Maya’s beschikken over vele artistieke talenten, maar hebben meestal niet de mogelijkheid om dit met een groter internationaal publiek te delen. Met uw donaties hopen wij dat deze culturele uitwisseling werkelijkheid wordt en ook dat er daarna nog velen zullen volgen. Wij zullen de ontwikkelingen in Nederland vastleggen via sociale media en delen met de Maya’s in Guatemala. Zo hopen wij de Maya en de westerse cultuur dichter bij elkaar te brengen en jong artistiek talent uit Guatemala te ondersteunen.

Dit project wordt mede mogelijk gemaakt door de Mikaso Foundation van Louise Marie Beauchamp uit Canada en de Stichting Colour of Sound in Nederland. Deze stichtingen kunnen echter niet het gehele project bekostigen en daarom vragen wij u om met ons mee te doen!

Door te doneren kunt ook u deel uit maken van deze bijzondere culturele en muzikale uitwisseling, tijdens een persoonlijke meet & greet. Uw donatie zal deels uitgaan naar het bekostigen van de een-op-een masterclass en ook naar het organiseren van de pianorecitals, transport- en verblijfskosten.

Our project is a special cultural and musical exchange between an indigenous classical educated pianist from Guatemala, the land of the Maya, and the master pianist and composer from the Netherlands with Moluccan roots.

Who are we?
My name is Monique Vreeken and I lived with the Maya in Guatemala for 15 years. Since a few years I am back in the Netherlands and I create the opportunity to connect people from different cultures.
Salvador Chavajay, pianist, comes from a Maya village in Guatemala, where the basic elements of classical music and the piano do not really exist. Salvador started as a traditional musician and at a young age he was allowed to go to the conservatory in Guatemala City. After graduating cum laude, Salvador received a stipendium to go to the conservatory in Montreal, Canada. His dream is to express his Maya culture into the classical music, which is rooted in Europe. For this reason, I have been searching for a special piano coach, who also has combined her roots with classical music.
Mariëtte Hehakaya, pianist and composer, started her professional career at the age of twelve. In addition to her international career and teaching practice, she has also developed an expertise in piano coaching for high sensitive persons (HSP) and other piano talents. Because of her synesthesia and love for Fine Arts, Mariette initiated the Colour of Sound Foundation, which promotes the expression and performance in music and art in Sound and Colour.

Colour of Sound master class
Mariëtte Hehakaya has created a special program for a one-to-one master class for Salvador Chavajay, consisting of four hours of piano coaching per day during the month of August. In this master class, Salvador will learn to express his own colour technically and melodically by gaining insight into his piano performance and by new knowledge of Western piano music. Mariëtte Hehakaya understands a refinement of the sound through her own cultural diversity.

Nuestro proyecto es un intercambio cultural ymusical muy especial entre un pianista clásica indígena de Guatemala, la tierrade los mayas, y el maestro pianista y compositor de Holanda con raícesde las Malucas.

¿Quienes somos?

Mi nombre es Monique Vreeken y viví con los mayas en Guatemala durante quince años. Hace unos años estoy viviendo en Holanda otra vez y mi pasión es crear oportunidades de conectar personas de diferentes culturas.

Salvador Chavajay, pianista, viene de un pueblo maya en Guatemala, donde los elementos básicos de la música clásica y el piano en realidad no existen. Salvador comenzó como músico tradicional y a una edad joven se le permitió ir al conservatorio en la Ciudad de Guatemala. Después de graduarse cum laude, Salvador recibió una beca para ir al conservatorio en Montreal, Canadá. Su sueño es expresar su cultura maya en la música clásica, que tiene sus raíces en Europa. Por esta razón, he estado buscando un profesor de piano, que también ha combinado sus raíces con la música clásica.

Mariëtte Hehakaya, pianista y compositora, comenzó su carrera profesional a la edad de doce años. Además de su carrera internacional y su práctica docente, también ha desarrollado una experiencia en el entrenamiento de piano para personas alta sensibles y otros talentos del piano. Debido a su sinestesia y su amor por las Bellas Artes, Mariette inició la ‘Fundación Color de Sonido', que promueve la expresión en música y arte en sonido y color.

Un clase maestra de Color de sonido
Mariëtte Hehakaya ha creado un programa especial para una clase maestra uno-a-uno para Salvador Chavajay, que consiste en cuatro horas de entrenamiento de piano por día durante el mes de agosto. En esta clase maestra, Salvador aprenderá a expresar su propio color técnica y melódicamente al obtener una idea de su interpretación en el piano y de los nuevos conocimientos de la música de piano occidental. Mariëtte Hehakaya entiende un refinamiento del sonido a través de su propia diversidad cultural.

Los mayas tienen muchos talentos artísticos, pero generalmente no tienen la oportunidad de compartirlos con una audiencia internacional mas grande. Con sus donaciones, esperamos que este intercambio cultural se convierta en una realidad y que muchos mas muchos más seguirán en el futuro. Registraremos los desarrollos de nuestro proyecto en Holanda a través de las redes sociales y compartiremos con los mayas en Guatemala. De esta manera, acercamos la cultura maya y la occidental y apoyamos a jóvenes talentos artísticos de Guatemala.
