I have a strange Love-Hate relationship with this apartment. From the very second I came in, it felt like home. During the years I have come to hate it, it feels like prison.
Me, a Jewish-Israeli-Dutch artist, who, like every other conscious human being, is traumatized by this war.
Looking for more info about the earlier dwellers, I have found out that the youngest of them, a Lady whose given name was Schoontje (Beauty), was born on 19th February 1864. My birth day 18 February 1963.
Between 3rd of May till 5th of May, during the week of commemoration and celebration here in the Netherlands, I will have an open house in my apartment. Few installations and artworks will be presented. I will "do" a performance.
The public is welcome to come in and stay for a while.
Those works were created specially for this apartment, for this city, for this commemoration day.
The installations:
Living room: A curtain and a video
Corridor: A wallpaper
Sleeping room - Video installation
Kitchen: Photo's of Still Life
Toilet: A diary, my private journal with drawings, thoughts, poems, photos
