Radio Voorwaarts is een korte fictiefilm die zich afspeelt op de vooravond van de ontruiming van een (anti)kraak gemeenschap en radiostudio.

We ontmoeten krakers, kunstenaars, idealisten en ravers, die voor één laatste keer samenkomen om het einde van hun geliefde ruimte te vieren en te berouwen.

We hebben het gevoel dat er steeds minder ruimte is voor andersheid in steden. Er is weinig tot geen fictie die op artistieke wijze de subjectieve en emotionele dimensies onderzoekt van het gevoel van verlies dat gepaard gaat met stedelijke vernieuwing.

Onze film is ontstaan uit onze frustraties over Amsterdam, maar is tegelijkertijd een ode aan de stad. Iedereen kent wel een plek met speciale waarde die niet langer bestaat. Als zo’n plek verdwijnt ben je melancholisch en verdrietig, maar ook euforisch en dankbaar dat je het mee hebt mogen maken. Onze film gaat over dit gevoel, de bitterzoete schoonheid van tijdelijkheid.

Crowdfunding
Met steun van het Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst hebben we Radio Voorwaarts in Januari 2018 succesvol kunnen draaien. Er zijn echter nog cruciale stappen te gaan voordat we onze film naar het witte doek kunnen brengen.

Het ingezamelde geld wordt gebruikt voor de kleurcorrectie, geluidsmix, muziekrechten, festival inzendingen en promotie.

Wie?
Radio Voorwaarts wordt geregisseerd door Mateo Vega en geproduceerd door Yannesh Meijman.

We werken samen met een hechte groep van jonge opkomende filmmakers, acteurs, muzikanten, dichters en kunstenaars, die met hun unieke bijdrage het gevoel van gemeenschap in dit project creëren,

Radio Voorwaarts is a short fiction film that takes place on the eve of the eviction of an (anti)squat community, home to the Radio Voorwaarts pirate radio.

We encounter a multiplicity of characters – squatters, artists, idealists and ravers – who gather one last time to simultaneously mourn and celebrate the end of their beloved space.

We have the feeling that there is increasingly less space for deviance and creativity in urban spaces. In our experience, there is hardly any fiction that artistically explores the subjective and emotional dimensions of the feelings of loss that accompany urban renewal.

Although our film stems from a sense of frustration, it is simultaneously also an ode to the city. When a place we dearly loved ceases to exist, we are sad and melancholic, but also grateful for having had the opportunity to experience it. Our film is about this feeling, the bittersweet beauty of fleetingness.

Crowdfunding
With support from the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts, we managed to successfully shoot Radio Voorwaarts in January 2018. However, before we can finish our film and show it on the big screen, we still need to make crucial steps.

The collected funds will be used for colour grading, sound mix, music rights, festival submissions, and promotion.

Radio Voorwaarts is directed by Mateo Vega and produced by Yannesh Meijman.

We are working together with a close-knit group of upcoming filmmakers, actors, musicians, and artists, whose unique input help create the sense of community in this project.
