Anything can happen in a good story
With this CD we tried to create an actual narrative. Every piece is selected in such a way that the listener has the feeling of a story being read to him or her. Like in every good story, anything can happen. So don’t be surprised if you hear:
...a seductive night dance................................................................................................................
...............................................................a scary silence..........................................................................
....................................................................................................the shriek of a child-stealer......
................................................the tapping of rain................................................................................
..........................................................................................................a slithering snake........................
...........................................................................an explosion...................................................................
...............................a storm...........................................................................................................................
...........................................................................a funeral march...........................................................
.............................................................................................................a dark joke.....................................
More than just a CD
Our project is the meeting point of many highly talented people, collaborating to create something unique:
Sam David Wamper - The young Dutch composer wrote the work “Portrait of Lilith (Faces of a Woman)” especially for this CD. His works have been played already in big halls like Bozar in Brussels and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
Michael Ferner - The Austrian painter, fascinated by our theme “Lilith& Lulu”, decided to create a whole series of paintings that will appear in the cover and the booklet of our CD. His art has even decorated the buses of Salzburg!
Record Label - We are going to collaborate with a Dutch label of the highest quality. Soon we will announce the name.

The story
This concert takes place in the darkness of the night. The American composer William Bolcom transforms the saxophone into the seductive song of a woman, the growl of a wild animal or the shriek of a monster. These are the sounds of Lilith, the beautiful woman who was hurt and returns as a demon seeking revenge. Lilith was the ancient archetype of the femme fatale. The supernatural femme fatale Lilith returns as the human Lulu.
God created her for evil and for havoc,
To snare us and seduce us, to infect us
And to destroy us, never leaving finger prints.
This is how she is called upon stage in Alban Berg’s last opera. Characterized as a “human snake” or an “innocent murderess”, Lulu is formed and corroded by modern psychology and civilization, bound for self-destruction. The saxophone will imitate her song.
This program is meant to be followed from beginning to end as an hour-long musical story.
