Tom Waits Library

The Tom Waits Library is the largest website where everything about Tom Waits can be found. The site contains 1518 pages, 8122 images, 337 interviews, all performances, all song lyrics, all official albums, unofficial albums, movies,plays, the musicians Waits worked with etc. The site is at www.tomwaitslibrary.info
Until the end of 2010, 'Pieter from Holland' built and maintained the website, but became obsolete due to its HTML coding. So no more updates. The many updates await a new system.
Through crowdfunding we want to convert the website to WordPress. This offers opportunities to work with more editors and provide the site with much more content. A team of volunteers is committed to make this work.

The team ready to work on it consists of Jake Arthur, Peter Balkema, Tim Balzer, Marco van Bergen, Jakob Dall, Hans Eikelenboom, Jeremy Farrance, JB, Fabian van Langevelde, Kees Lau, Jonas Nordstrom, Jonas Ruthenberg, Dennis Sille, Imro Simmelink and Bob Turba.
The Tom Waits Library has a number of principles in the spirit of the true librarian:
- Financial and editorial independence; no ads and no links to a record company.
- The Tom Waits Library is a non-profit organization and is registered at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.
- The Tom Waits Library has applied for the "ANBI status" for duty free donations in the Netherlands.

Support

The Tom Waits Library would like your support so we can continue for years to come. The costs we now have to make relate to the translation to the CMS system, the website costs, and the costs for the gifts and postage.

Tom Waits on his oil stained shirts

To Whoever,
These are oil stains I’ve found in parking lots in the U.S. and abroad. The horse I found on a stall door at Santa Anita Racetrack. The horse had chewed away the white paint on the door and left this incredible image of a horse sailing over a fence. After finding that I began looking for ghost images in the stains beneath cars. None of them has been retouched. They are like I found them. I took them with B+W film. I like to say I work in oils. See whatever you wish to see in them; they are the astonishing shapes and mysteries of the natural world.

About international donations

We're very happy that you've decided to make a contribution to one of the great creative ideas on voordekunst.nl! As our website is in Dutch at the moment, we've put together this donation manual to help you contribute to the campaign of your choice.

Once you're at the page of the campaign you want to support, here's what to do: 1. Click on the big green button that says 'Doneer nu' (donate now).
(Or a yellow button with the amount you want to donate).

                                                                                                            2.Now you get to select a reward and to choose the amount you want to contribute.

If you want to contribute but don't want to receive a reward, please select the 'Geen tegenprestatie' ('no reward') option.

The tickbox beneath the field asks whether you want to contribute 5% extra to voordekunst. 'I want to support voordekunst with an additional 5%' We use this donation to further optimize our services, like the website.

Now you can click 'doorgaan' (continue).

If you've not ticked the 5% extra box you might get a pop-up that asks you again. Choose the green button if you do want to donate 5% extra, choose the grey button if you do not want to support voordekunst with 5% extra.

                                                                                                            3.Next we need a little contact information, so the artist can keep you updated on the campaign, your reward and to send you a confirmation of your contribution.

You can log in if you already have a voordekunst profile ('inloggen')If you're here for the first time just enter your e-mail address, and you're done.Choose the option that suits you best, and if you wish you can use Facebook to log in or create an account as well.

                                                                                                            4.This is the last step: here you **can enter your name** (tick the box if you don't want your name to be shown on the page).

For some rewards your address is required. Fill in the address you want to receive your reward at.

Enter a motivation that shows up on the website. 'Waarom steun je dit project' ('why are you supporting this campaign'). This is optional.

And select you preferred method of payment (donating via voordekunst is always free of charge).

Click the big green button 'afronden' and you will be sent to Buckaroo, our secure payment provider, to make your contribution.
