Crossing the Rubicon - Tokyo & Osaka

We are Laurens & Thijs from the VideoMatic. We joined forces in 2010 and combine moving image and graphic design to make promo's, music video's, video registrations, graphic animations and short fiction movies.

As you can see in the video preview above, we are currently making a short music documentary. Why? Because we have to tell the amazing story of the Dutch band Finn SIlver. We first met the band on the day of their album release concert in May 2011. They asked us to film their show and they really impressed us with their ambitions and their music. After the show we met them backstage and had an instant connection.

It was only 2 weeks later, that the band received an email from iTunes Japan. They couldn't believe their eyes, when they were asked to make one of their songs "single of the week". And so the journey began: they chose the song 'Road Trip'. It was downloaded 60.000! times in one week. They pulled off a recorddeal in Japan, which officially released Finn Silver’s album in November 2011. Together they made it happen that the band was invited to perform at the acknowledged venues of Billboard Live Tokyo & Osaka.

When we heard of this amazing news, we just had to travel with them to Japan, because this unique opportunity and experience had to be captured in video and audio. Fortunately Finn Silver could't agree more and in January this year we set foot in Japan. We filmed their entire tour. From the band's arrival in Narita, their first contact with fans at the arrival in the Tokyo Hilton Hotel, all of their shows, till their last breakfast before their return journey to Holland. Critics from Tokyo called their shows "hugely enjoyable" and "simply magic". And indeed, magical is the best way to describe the entire experience we all had in Japan.

When  we returned to Holland and showed some of the recorded footage to Finn Silver, they were very excited with what they saw, it was beyond their expectations. They immediately decided they wanted to join this project by making the entire soundtrack with soundscapes and some new songs.

Now that we have all this wonderful material, we want to share it with the rest of the world. Up till now, we put all our effort and money in making the material as it is in the current state. But in order to make create a worthy short music documentary with this material we need your help! With your donations we can make extra film material of Finn Silver to tell this story properly, have a budget for editing and postproduction and have the entire soundtrack made by Finn SIlver in a studio with professional musicians.
