The long way home

Tien jaar geleden nam ik in het tuinhuisje van een vriend mijn eerste nummers op. In de jaren die volgden deelde ik als singer-songwriter mijn muziek met veel mensen die, als het ze raakte, het nooit met ze mee konden nemen. Maar de droom van een album uitbrengen bleef telkens een sprong van mijlen te ver.

Er was veel geduld en vertrouwen voor nodig, maar afgelopen zomer kwam alles dan toch bij elkaar: de juiste context, timing, apparatuur, mensen, en innerlijke houding om het momentum op te bouwen waarin tien jaar persoonlijke en muzikale ontwikkeling gebundeld konden worden.

Het album omvangt nu dat hele decennium. Het beschrijft niet alleen mijn persoonlijke reis, maar ook de reis die wij allemaal delen: het rijpen van kind tot mens, op weg naar de eigen kracht van waaruit je je jeugddroom kan verwezenlijken, en zo kan worden wie je altijd al was.

Opgenomen over tien jaar tijd, in vier verschillende landen, met de hulp van een dozijn muzikanten en hele communities aan supporters, is dit album het verhaal geworden van the long way home. Ik ben dolblij het nu met jullie te kunnen delen.

Waarom doneren?

De € 1500 is behaald! Met dat geld laat ik:

- De nummers masteren
- Digitaal publiceren op platforms zoals Spotify, iTunes, Shazam en Pandora
- Een kleine oplage cd’s drukken

Maar de voorverkoop gaat door! Met extra donaties kan ik namelijk:

- Copyright laten registreren
- Fotoshoot betalen voor het albumboekje
- Catering en materiaalhuur release concert bekostigen

Voor € 15 heb je ook je eigen gesigneerde cd gereserveerd! Kom hem ophalen op het album release concert 15 september (locatie per uitnodiging), of krijg hem opgestuurd voor € 5 extra waar je ook bent ter wereld. Je kan ook meerdere cd’s bestellen, of kiezen voor een persoonlijke brief waarin ik je meer over het achtergrondverhaal van het album. Voor € 150 neem ik je mee uit eten, en voor € 350 kom ik naar je toe voor een huiskamerconcert!

The long way home

Ten years ago I recorded my first song in the garden shed of a friend. In the years that followed I shared my music as a singer-songwriter with many who, when it touched them, could never take it with them. But the dream to produce an album remained a leap of miles too far.

It required ample patience and faith, but last summer everything finally fell into place: the right context, timing, equipment, people, and own inner attitude to build the momentum where I could capture ten years of personal and musical development.

The album now encapsulates that entire decade. It chronicles not only my personal journey, but also the journey we all share: ripening from child to human, in pursuit of the personal power from where you can realize your childhood dream, and through it become who you’ve always been.

Recorded and mixed over ten years, in four different countries, with the help of a growing fellowship of musicians and entire communities of supporters, this album has become the story of the long way home. I’m so happy to share it with you.

Why donate?

We've reached the € 1500 (£ 1360 / $ 1760)! I'll use that money to:

- Get all tracks mastered
- Digitally published on platforms such as Spotify, iTunes, Shazam and Pandora
- Have a small batch of CDs pressed.

But the pre-sale continues! Additional donations will help me cover the costs of:

- Copyright registration
- Photoshoot for the album booklet
- Catering and equipment rental for the release concert

For € 15 (£ 14 / $ 18) you’ve reserved your own signed CD! You can pick it up at the album release concert on the 15th of September (location per invitation). Alternatively, for € 5 extra it will be shipped to you wherever you are in the world! You can also order multiple CDs, or opt for a personal letter where I tell you more about the backstory of the album. For € 150 I will take you out to dinner and for € 350 I will come to you for a living room concert! (provided we're in a 150k radius from each other :) )
