TOS* - Things of Significance

I'm a visual artist. With my paintings I share my view on the world around me. Normally this is a physical world. Now I feel the urge to share something unseen, something misperceived, that is out there too.

Here's why.

We need a hopeful story that cuts straight through the boundaries of race, gender, and religion.

We’re at a point in time where the world is about to undergo some major changes. We live in a highly complex landscape, full of conflict, contradictory interests, and overlapping hatreds. More and more people seem to be driven by fear, ignorance and differences. This sometimes leads me to believe that the world is about to collapse.

Instead of focusing on all the dissimilarities that are pointed out by the media, I want to focus on what we have in common, what we can change for the better and zoom in on bravery and energy.

So I created TOS*. Things of Significance.

Over the course of a year I spoke to a more than 25 people from all over the globe. Every person I talked to gave me a unique view of the world. Their world. This left me with food for thought. They are here to build a new future. Bringing positivity. Wanting to contribute. Without these people who had the courage to leave their country for a better or safer live, Amsterdam would not be the same.

Book making takes a whole lot of love, time and dedication.
Therefore we need your help.

Recently my 'partner in crime' Kim Nanne, who is a brilliant text writer, artist/ bookmaker Michal Jurys, and me, made a beautiful pilot book of the first 5 stories. This pilot book resonates the positive TOS* feeling and convinced us that this is the way to get these stories out there.

25 Things of Significance have been painted, and we made transcripts of the interviews. We are now ready to share the TOS* story with the world.

However, book making takes a whole lot of love, time and dedication. Therefore we need your help. With your donation we will be able to cover the design and printing costs. Please help us spreading these stories!
