Meanwhile, the creation of the show is making great progress. After a very succesful residency in Paris, Monki is now working in Breda again on the project. He will close this current residency with a work-in-progress presentation next week on the 24th of February at 19:00. Address: Het Klooster, Schorsmolenstraat 13 Breda.

I am overwhelmed with gratitude at the amazing support and trust you have all shown in the last few weeks.

Meet Frank Yannick II, Frank for friends

First of all, a massive thank you for everyone that donated and supported in the last 2 days, jumping this campaign from 58 to 77%!

Second of all, meet Frank. He's my friend. A funky friend. The coolest bass guitar (yes, I said bass guitar for those of you that are counting strings) and second oldest man behind the Monki. Frank helps out with some awesome live tunes during the show, from chilled out to screaming fuzzy overdrive.

5 more days to go and something really great is happening. The VSB foundation pledged 20% to the cause! But only if we reach 80%. So in a sense, this week every donation will be doubled by them at the end of the week.

Meanwhile, the Bank Giro Loterij Fonds also pledged 800 euros, which means that almost 50% of the money is from foundations now. But again, only if we succesfully finance this thing.

For 5 more days, please help me spread the word and reach my goal. We need 1000E more and I know that with your help, it's possible.

Hey everyone! Thanks to the generosity of 34 people who donated 38% percent of our goal together, I am able to rent a studio this week to work on the show and give you a glimpse of what this is all about. Wojtek Gasiorowski; musical mastermind and groovy gorrila

Meet Maximon, the musical director of 'Not Somewhere Else'. He is a bass guitar magician and looping lunatic. He will help Monki write and fine-tune the live music of the show, and he will also write and record extra music tobe used in the performance.

Monki met Maximon this summer in Edinburgh and they immediately connected artistically and humanly. Maximon's music style is raw and virtuous. It fits the atmosphere of the show very well and I am veryhappy to havr him on board!

So to celebrate, I hereby kick off a small series of introductions about the team behind the MONKI, to let you know a little bit more about the project.

There are 4 installments in total and they will be published at 22%, 33%, 44% and 55%, so if you help keep this thing going, there will be something in it for you as well.

Dick Hauser: papa primate and cool head of the gang

Dick Hauser is the end director of Not Somewhere Else. Having lots of experience in theatre and music theatre, he is of great support to Monki in terms of overall structure of the show, the conten and the use of text.

Monki and Dick met for the first time in 2014 when they worked together on Monki's graduation act 'x.88'. Dick came in once the structure of the act was more or less set and together they worked on the use of text and the rhythm of the piece.

Both of the men really liked the cooperation so when Monki asked Dick to join him on the adventure of Not Somewhere Else, he jumped on board enthusiastically!

Here's a little bit more information about Dick, as taken from his website:

"Dick Hauser was educated as a graphic designer. Together with (among other) Alex van Warmerdam and Thijs van der Poll he founded the legendary music theatre company Hauser Orkater (Orkater) in 1972.

Hauser Orkater made a unique combination of live rock, absurd texts and inventive images. Hauser worked as a composer/musician and was in this way involved in theatre productions, films and records. Hauser Orkater was very succesful in France, amongst other places. Their production 'Zie de mannen vallen' (Regardez les hommes tomber) was awarded the title of 'best foreign show' in France in 1980."

In the last years Dick has been directed many different kinds of performances, from opera to musical to classical theatre. He has also directed a few films and two dace movies. His dance film 'Men of Good Fortune' won the Golden Prague in 2001.
