Our Aim: To create a free photography magazine. Share stories with a wide audience and to open up a dialogue between different countries through photography and storytelling. By making it free it becomes like a message in a bottle: we don’t know who’s going to pick it up, but the important thing is that the message is out there.
With your donation we can make it
To create a free photography magazine. Share stories with a wide audience and to open up a dialogue between different countries through photography and storytelling. By making it free it becomes like a message in a bottle: we don’t know who’s going to pick it up, but the important thing is that the message is out there.
With your donation we can make it possible to print the magazine that will be free of charge for anyone to own. All our donators will be thanked and mentioned on the contributors page on the Stray Dog's website.
The magazine will be available for free pickup at different pick up points in different countries; galleries, photography festivals, libraries and cafes.
As well as this a digital copy of the magazine will be available for free through our website.
The pick-up points will be in the Following cities: Sarajevo, New York, Berlin, Venice, Amsterdam, The Hague, Belfast, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Zurich, Barcelona, Toronto.
Don't worry if you're not in one of these areas: it will be possible to order the magazine on our website.
Who We Are:
Over the course of one week, 35 photography students from the Royal Academy of Art (Royal Academy) in The Hague, NL embarked on a journey in and around one of the biggest melting pots in the Balkans: Sarajevo!
We overtook us with a handful of second hand knowledge and our aspirations. There were prejudices, premonitions and preconceptions, but we all went there with our eyes, hearts and minds wide open.
Some students chose to focus on issues related to the past, the present and some others looked ahead to the future. This is not to say there was a clear distinction between these tenses, as a place marked by such a rich and turbulent history resulted in an in escapable reference to all three.
During the week we split up and went our own way, wandering the streets and homes of Sarajevo in search of stories. This resulted in a variety of perspectives, opinions and visions on a solid country with rich cultural and ethnic diversity.
We hope that we are printable to give a taste of this beautiful city and show our stories and experiences, and we hope you enjoy exploring them, as much as we did exploring Sarajevo.
The printing costs are a total of 3,000 euros. This will allow us to print a total of 1000 copies.
We have already raised some money through advertising in order to help pay for postage and packaging to disseminate the magazine to the different pick-up points.
There will be an exhibition in The Hague during June (date TBA) where anyone is free to join us to celebrate the launch of the magazine and for a print sale.
