First of all let me thank you one more timefrom the bottom of my heart for supporting “The Lucky One” and making this dream coming true. It has been quite a special, challenging, valuable and rewarding journey. And thank you for being part of this journey.

I've experienced many things that I hadn’t before. As you all know I've been working on “The Lucky One” with a completely new creative team. A producer, THE producer is actually one of the most important factors of creating music, of making an album. Unfortunately the production and release of the album has been delayed because due to creative differences, my producer and I had to part ways.

Originally the plan was to release in Paradiso, Amsterdam, on the 7th November which coincides with my birthday, but unfortunately this turned out to be impossible.

In stead, I started from the scratch again, I did some research again, I met 10 different producers and I found one. Soon I will officially announce this new partnership. And I have more good news: I participated in a Rotterdam based music competitioncalled ‘Sena Grote Prijs van Rotterdam’. I made it to the finals, which are going to take a place on 20th November.

Graag zou ik jullie uit de grond van mijn hart nogmaals bedanken voor het steunen van “The Lucky One” en het waarmaken van deze droom. Het is een bijzondere, uitdagende, waardevolle en dankbare reis. Dank je dat je hier van deel uit maakt.

Ik heb veel nieuwe ervaringen gehad. Zoals jullie weten heb ik met een geheel nieuw creatief team aan “The Lucky One” gewerkt. De producer, DE producer, is feitelijk een van de belangrijkste factoren bij het creëren van muziek en van een album. Helaas zijn de productie en release van het album vertraagd doordat mijn producer en ik wegens creatieve meningsverschillen uit elkaar zijn gegaan. In beginsel was het de bedoeling de release te organiseren op 7 november in Paradiso, Amsterdam (wat toevallig ook mijn verjaardag is) maar helaas is dit onmogelijk gebleken.

I have never won a competition. I made to the finals tho. Dutch Jazz Competition, Netherlands Jazz Vocalisten Concourse, Music Matters … Howver I had always a great connection with the audience. After every competition that I participated based on the reaction of the audience the guess would be that I'd get at least the 3rd place.
But NOPE. The jury never completely agreed on what I'm doing. After couple of trials I gave up. I got sad and upset. But then I realised that I was not made for competitions. I could train myself in order to win and get all the requirements to satisfy the jury and the audience but that would be only for winning. If I want to learn something more and train myself this shouldn't be the reason. This should not decide on what I'm going to practice or create.
Don't get me wrong. There are some winners that they are still themselves, unique and yet serving to the jury and maybe also to the audience's expectations. I'm not. In other words I realised that I'm an artist who like to focus on different disciplines, different topics in different periods. I'm an artist who creates works led by live events and forces. I realised that when ever I completely follow my heart and if the work that I'm crating feels completely right soon or later it will find it's place and I will get my award one day. I've realised as a person, as a musician, as an artist I didn't win any competition BUT I won people's hearts. In this passing 7,5 years no matter where I perform (the range is wide and absurd: From Bimhuis to worse cafe and restaurants) all I did was to stay open-honest and connect. Maybe the repertory and the way I sing, perform had to change from place to place but one thing was always the same. ME, my heart and the way I approached to my audience. Magic. I feel like actually I finally WON. All I did was LOVE and SHARE and in return I received your HEARTS and LOVES + €10.321! :-)Isn't that amazing? THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for everything. I have 153 lovers and winners.

Oh my! It has been a unique experience to run a crowd funding campaign and soon we are coming to the end. I'm in love with my "CROWD". "The Lucky One" brought so many people from so many different places and disciplines TOGETHER.
Urfa; where I was born and raised, Istanbul; where I grew up and studied, Rotterdam where I put everything on table and figured out who I am and what I'm standing for in life. And you'd think these places and people are so different from each other. YES and NO. But there is one thing that connect them and everybody I know stands for; LOVE.
WE MAKE SENSE TOGETHER and WE ARE THE LUCKY ONES!

Somethings will never change and We will never understand …
This moment; the "breakpoint" … You do not understand what is going on but something is wrong.
And there is nothing you can do except "waiting and letting go" … It is out of your hands.
But I'm not really good at "Letting GO!" but I wrote a song instead …

Wobbe Kuiper is a dear friend of mine and one of my great colleagues at Codarts, Rotterdam Conservatory.
He is a Film music composer and producer and He is teaching Music Theory at different conservatories in The Netherlands. He is one of the big supporters of "The Lucky One" At the end of the video He is being himself and He thought that I'd have cut it. NOPE! :-) It's really funny.

Today I'd like share with you something else than my on going project "The Lucky One" but still connected to LOVE.
I wrote this song for/against Erdogan 3 years ago during the Gezi Park Protests. I find Turkey, my family, my friends, myself again in the same situation: DESPRATION and HOPELESSNESS. SADNESS. What a country! Never ending story.
Erdogan was still the Prime Minister. I was trying to understand-imagine How does it feel to be Erdogan?
What kind of a person He must be to have that much hate and will to destroy? What kind of past and childhood He must have had?
Cause I need to understand. I need reasons. We need logical reasons to survive this shit and that was my hypothesis:
"Who didn't love you when you were a kid? "
And after launching the song, I've heard I was right, He had a very cruel father.
But pay attention-don't get me wrong. I also say in the song:
"Enough is enough! We didn't get the love we needed EITHER but We don't declare a WAR!"

Aura Rascon is a dear friend of mine.
She is a flute and Bansuri player, great musician.
But also She is the director of FullmoonBabylon festivals which is one of the most important festivals in Rotterdam.

Back to where my entire story has begun, Paradiso. Has been 4 years since I released my first CD "Safran" and in Autumn 2016 "The Lucky One" will be also released there. Today I was there for an interview that will be published by ‪#‎voordekunst‬

"The first thing I noticed when listening to Hüseyin’s rough demos, was the unique sound of his voice. It was mellow, dark & intimate. An artist that didn’t had the urge to prove his vocal abilities. It was all about the story. And Hüseyin had quite the story! It wasn’t one with a happy ending, but I always like to think that those stories, in the end, make better music.

There was a lot of space in the songs, both lyrically and arrangement-wise. It somehow made me think of Atony & the Johnsons or Sufjan Stevens’ more recent work. I also liked the fact that the songs had a lush vibe over them although Hüseyin lived in a very urban environment (i.e. Berlin & Rotterdam) over the past years. While working on “We Make Sense Toghether” I thought it would be nice to translate this contrast to the studio and combine live instruments like the acoustic guitar & strings with more eclectic vocals effects, synths & programming.

I always admire when a musician takes the step to record his or her own music. There’s a significant difference between artists and those who are not. Hüseyin definitely is one. It takes a lot of courage to show such a personal side of yourself. I wish him all the best with this crowd funding project."
