Last week the "Grand Opening" of the exhibition in the Melkweg Expo took place and thanks to all your support and amazing donations it was a huge success! Around 250 people attended the opening and it was amazing and very touching to hear the response and see how everyone reacted to the project. Once again a HUGE thank you for all the help, it really wouldn't have been possible without all of you!

The exhibition will be open:

Oct 23rd - Nov 15th 2015:
every Wednesday - Sunday 12.00-21.00.

The entrance to the gallery is on the Marnixstraat 409 in Amsterdam, you can enter through the Melkweg Cafe if the glass door is closed.

Many of you who attended the opening were kind enough to send me some great pictures, you can check them out here and spot yourself!

Thanks to VSB Fonds and their amazing donation, Hijab Unravelled reached….not 50%…….

You may have already seen it in the news headlines: global clothing giant H&M features its first ever Muslim model in a hijab. The online world has been going crazy over it…..and so have I!

You see, I was thinking…….when the Hijab Unravelled exhibition goes oversees, maybe we should host it at H&M in London!!?? Idea?!

This past week the project has already raised a staggering 41% and since the donations have been rolling in from abroad, my updates will be in English from now on. Just 9% to go and I can reveal another 25% of the surprise photograph!!
_(if you are just tuning in and you have no idea what I am talking about, please check the previous updates)As many of you know, I have been predominantly pre-occupied with the design of the Hijab Unravelled book during these past couple of months. Not only did I want the photographs to be absolutely perfect, I also wanted the Hijab Unravelled women to be properly introduced through short biographies. Which meant I had to write…..and trust me when I say that this is neither one of my strengths nor one of my pleasures. Luckily, I was introduced to the (in my eyes) genius and wonderful writer Alex Stewart, who soon became my official text editor. It's amazing how he untangled my messy and often extremely boring English and was able to create stories that are dying to be read. Together with the clean-cut and 'properly square' lay-out, designed by the very talented graphic designer [John van Leeuwen](https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=AAkAAAP7J5YBUUAv4EAbgqad1xsRFWwgbIbn82A&authType=NAMESEARCH&authToken=MUKp&locale=enUS&trk=tyah&trkInfo=clickedVertical:mynetwork,clickedEntityId:66791318,authType:NAMESEARCH,idx:1-1-1,tarId:1443139390493,tas:john van leeuwen) (d3aem), my photographs and the stories of these 31 women have truly come to life.

And now….finally…..the book has been sent off to the printer!! It is out of my control, which is a huge relief and terrifying at the same time :D

Sinds de start van deze campagne heb ik heel wat complimenten gekregen over het leuke filmpje. Daarom vond ik het maar eens tijd om iedereen voor te stellen aan de maker achter dit knap staaltje kunst: Pim van der Pas!

Afgestudeerd als video editor aan het Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam, is Pim door gegaan met een studie gespecialiseerd in montage aan de Erasmus Hogeschool RITCS (Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema & Sound) in Brussel. Ondertussen probeert hij zo veel mogelijk ervaring op te doen op het gebied van film, zowel fictie als documentaire, om zichzelf te ontwikkelen. Hij droomt ervan om als hoofd editor mee te werken aan grote professionele projecten.

Zijn cv is al rijkelijk gevuld met een aantal prachtige projecten:

• montage van een langspeelfilm "Schaduwspel" over het verzet tijdens de tweede wereldoorlog in Oosterwijk http://schaduwspeldefilm.nl/

Ik ben er natuurlijk ontzettend trots op dat het crowd funding filmpje van Hijab Unravelled vanaf nu behoort tot zijn jonge, maar rijke oeuvre :D
