“So you really want to go and set sail to the North Pole?”

Ja, dat willen wij! Of althans wanneer 'the north pole' een metafoor is voor ons doel: een album opnemen met Along a line.

Om daar te geraken en ons onderweg warm te houden hebben we meer nodig dan alleen jullie liefde. Vandaar deze oproep voor een beetje financiële steun.

Wie is Along a line?
In de vaste overtuiging dat muziek niet in hokjes te duwen is, gingen popzangeres Aline Goffin en jazzfluitist Stefan Bracaval in zee met een klassiek kamermuziekensemble. Bart Celis – If Sound Matters verzorgt het algemene geluid. Het resultaat is een eigenzinnige wereld die de lijnen tussen de verschillende genres bewandelt. Grenslijnen of verbindingslijnen? Binnen de lijnen of buiten de lijnen? Along a line zoekt een eigen weg in de muzikale veelkleurigheid. Zonder voorbij te gaan aan de essentie: dat het als muziek in de oren mag klinken.

In februari 2015 werd Along a line door Indiestyle gekozen tot Poppunt vi.be van de maand. Lees hier hun recensie:

“Laten we maar meteen met de deur in huis vallen: de reden dat ons oor viel op Along A Line, is omdat de band anders klinkt. Zoek niet naar een (elektrische) gitaar of toetsen, want Along A Line heeft lak aan die traditionele instrumenten in de popmuziek. In plaats daarvan wordt Aline Goffin – half mens, half engel, afgaande op haar stem – met verve begeleid door fluitist Stefan Bracaval en nog een handvol andere blazers en strijkers.

Along A Line zoekt naar eigen zeggen een weg in de muzikale veelkleurigheid, en slaagt daar wonderwel in. ‘Masquerade’ is My Brightest Diamond die de gezelligheid van huiskamerpop ontdekt heeft, terwijl de schijnbaar verlegen ukelelesong ‘North Pole’ gestaag open bloeit tot een volle, in jazz gedrenkte compositie.

Maar het meeste indruk maakt het excentrieke ‘War’, dat danst op de grenzen van hedendaags klassiek en tegendraadse folkpop zonder zijn eigen gezicht te verliezen. Het rijke klankenpalet van Along A Line zou echter geenszins zo aantrekkelijk zijn als de stem van Goffin niet zo’n schot in de roos was. Het ene moment groots en theatraal, het andere moment lieflijk en intiem; altijd in dienst van het muzikale spectrum dat zich rond haar vormt, nooit over the top. Laat ons nog snel even recapituleren: Along A Line is op en top vakmanschap.”

Wanneer?
Het album zal opgenomen worden aan het einde van de zomer en gereleased worden vòòr de kerstperiode, wat het een ideaal kerstgeschenk maakt!

Yes, we do! At least, if 'the North Pole' is a metaphor for our goal: to record an album with Along a line.

To get there and to keep us warm we need more than just your love. That's why we ask you now for a bit of financial support.

Who is Along a line?
In the conviction that music should not stick to one category, pop singer Aline Goffin and jazz flute player Stefan Bracaval joined forces with a classical chamber ensemble. Bart Celis – If Sound Matters is in charge of the general sound. The result is a wayward universe that balances on the lines between different genres. Lines that divide or lines that connect? Inside the lines or outside the lines? Along a line is searching for its own way in the colourful world of music. Without losing sight of the essence: that it sounds like music to your ears.

In february 2015 Along a line was chosen Poppunt Vi.be of the month by the online music magazine Indiestyle. Read their review here:

“Let's cut straight to the point: the reason Along a line caught our ear, is because the band sounds different. Don't go searching for (electric) guitars or keys, because Along a line doesn't care about these traditional instruments in pop music. Instead, Aline Goffin – half human, half angel, judging on her voice – is well accompanied by flute player Stefan Bracaval and a handful of woodwinds and strings.

Along a line is searching for its own way in the colourful world of music and succeeds wonderfully well. 'Masquerade' is My Brightest Diamond who discovered the cosiness of 'living room pop', while the seemingly shy ukulele song 'North Pole' slowly blossoms into a complete, in jazz soaked composition.

But the eccentric 'War' made the biggest impression. It dances on the boundaries of contemporary classical and contrarious folk pop without losing its own face. However, the rich sound of Along a line wouldn't be half as attractive if the voice of Goffin wasn't such a hit. One moment grand and theatrical, the next charming and intimate, never over the top. Let us summarise: Along a line is perfect craftsmanship.”

When?
We will record the album at the end of this summer and release it before christmas holiday, which makes this the ideal Christmas gift!
