Wie zijn wij:

Wij zijn twee kunstenaars die elkaar hebben leren kennen in Nederland toen Laksmi hier een Artist-in –residence had.

Door raakvlakken binnen ons werk, ontstond het idee samen te exposeren en een interactieve installatie te bouwen waarbij het publiek ook betrokken zal worden. 

Vrouwen zijn van oudsher en wereldwijd cultuurdragers geweest. Zij geven nog steeds het leven en de cultuur door aan de volgende generaties. Nu de wereld steeds meer globaliseert en grenzen beginnen te vervagen, is dat proces binnen de verschillende culturen ook waarneembaar doordat zij zich kunnen vermengen.

Traditionele culturen, waarbij cultuurpatronen vaak  vanzelfsprekend, dominant en groepsgericht zijn, staan echter nog steeds tegenover moderne culturen, die maakbaar, veranderbaar en individueel gericht zijn.

Onze tentoonstelling zal in allerlei opzichten een versmelting van bovenstaande tegenstellingen zijn.

We zijn blij dat ook het Erasmushuis enthousiast is. Helaas kunnen zij niet het hele project financieel steunen. Wij vragen daarom U support.

Hoe gaan we te werk

We ontdekten we dat in veel culturen rond geboorte en vruchtbaarheid allerlei rituelen bestaan.

Omdat we allebei een voorkeur hebben voor de rijst- en vruchtbaarheidsgodin  Dewi Sri, zal deze expositie een hommage worden aan haar.

Laksmi zal vanuit het lucht element een bijdrage leveren en ik vanuit het element aarde. Het publiek zal door rijstaren aan de installatie toe te voegen betrokken worden. De installatie zal daardoor steeds veranderen.

Wat financiert U:

Een expositie in het buitenland is altijd duurder dan in Nederland. Het Erasmushuis heeft toegezegd de helft van het benodigde bedrag te financieren. De andere helft moeten we dus zelf zoeken.  De kosten behelzen vnm. de catalogus, transport, accommodatie en materiaal voor de installatie.

**We are two artists who got to know each other in the Netherlands when Laksmi Sitaresmi participated in an artist in residence program. Because of the similarities in our work, the idea was formed to make an exhibition together wherein we build an interactive installation in which the audience will also be involved.

Women have been traditionally and worldwide the ones who passed on the culture. They are still passing on the life and culture to future generations. As the world becomes more globalized and boundaries are beginning to fade, that process is also evident in different cultures because they are able to blend together.

Traditional cultures, in which cultural patterns are often obvious, dominant and group oriented and modern cultures that are often creatable, changeable and focused on the individual, face each other even now as opposites.

Our exhibition will be a merge between the topics named above.

We are pleased that the Erasmus House was excited. Unfortunately they cannot financially support the project completely. That is why we request your help.

How we will proceed:

We discovered that in many cultures a there are all sorts of rituals around birth and fertility.

Because we both have a preference for the rice and fertility goddess Dewi Sri, this exhibition will be dedicated to her.

Laksmi will contribute from the air element and I will from the earth element. The audience will be participating in the installation through adding rice ares. The installation will therefore be a dynamic happening.

What You Will Finance:

An exhibition abroad is always more expensive than in the Netherlands. Erasmus Huis has agreed to finance half of the required amount. The other half we hope to acquire through crowd funding. The costs include the catalog, transportation, accommodation and materials for the installation.
