Met ‘Around the world in 80 paintings’ verspreid ik (Helena Schotman) wereldwijd kunst, door muurschilderingen te maken bij publieke locaties. In ruil hiervoor vraag ik een verblijfplaats en eten voor de duur van een maand. Oftewel, een prachtige schildering in ruil voor het leven! Mijn motto hierbij is: “Go out into the world and be the change. Turn yourself into a butterfly and fly into the world.”

Door te schilderen, muziek te maken, te dansen en het onmogelijke mogelijk te maken, wil ik bijdragen aan het helen van de wereld. Ik wil iedereen eraan herinneren hoe mooi deze wereld eigenlijk is, hoe belangrijk het is om je ambities te volgen en dat iedereen de kracht heeft bij te dragen aan een positieve wereld. Dit project draagt er ook aan bij de ruilhandel te herstellen. Een ander doel is om tijdens de reis met kinderen in een weeshuis te gaan schilderen om hen in aanraking te laten komen met zelfexpressie. Mijn persoonlijke ambitie is om verder te groeien in mijn kunst.

De volgende bestemmingen liggen al vast:

·      Oostenrijk: Cultuur tempel (cultureel centrum) & Wonderland (commune),

·      Kroatie: Art & Eco village

·      Ibiza: Host (voor het maken van Street-art)

·      Mexico: El Wapini (cultureel centrum)

·      Peru: Ledged Loge Peru (pension)

Ook hoop ik locaties te vinden in Afrika, Azië en Australië.

Oktober/ November 2014 zal het project van start gaan. Gedurende het project houd ik een blog bij met onder andere verhalen, video impressies en foto’s zodat geïnteresseerden op de hoogte blijven van de reis en de voortgang van de (muur-)schilderingen. Ik verwacht een jaar onderweg te zijn om kleur en vreugde rond de wereld te verspreiden. De bedoeling  is om 5 uur per dag te schilderen en op minimaal 8 locaties een muurschildering en circa 72 andere kleinere werken te maken. Deze werken worden na de reis in Nederland geëxposeerd en vervolgens verdeeld onder de mensen die het project gesteund hebben. Daarnaast hoop ik na de reis een boek te maken, over de schilderijen en de ervaringen.

Om het reizen van locatie naar locatie en de benodigde verf te bekostigen heb ik een startbudget  van 3000 euro nodig. 10 % van het opgehaalde bedrag wil ik doneren aan de kinderen die ik schilderles ga geven.

‘Around the world in 80 paintings’ is there for spreading art worldwide, by making (mural-) paintings at public spaces. This in exchange for about a months’ room and board. A beautiful painting in return for living. My mission is to create art and with that to propagate colours and harmony in the world. My motto for this is “Go out into the world and be the change. Turn yourself into a butterfly and fly into the world.”

The purpose is to support the world with expression; by painting, making music and dancing, and to contribute to a healing of the world. I want to remind everybody to the importance of following your ambitions, to observe the beauty of every individual, the magnitude of love and the everybody’s’ capabilities to change the world by his or her own contribution. With this project I intend to reinstate barter trade. Another component of this project is to paint with local children in an orphanage or school. By doing this I want to stimulate their self-expression. My private ambition is to excel in my art and to interact with a worldwide audience.

The following destinations are planned:

·       Austria: Culture temple (cultural centrum) & Wonderland (a community),

·       Croatia: Art & Eco village

·       Ibiza: Host by an artist (for making street-art)

·       Mexico: El Wapini (cultural centrum)

·       Peru: Ledgend Lodge Peru (a guesthouse)

I’d like to go to locations in Africa, Asia and Australia as well. 

The project will start in October/ November 2014. During the project I will regularly post reports, video-impressions, photos and letters on a blog and my website so that I can keep you updated on my progress (travel, happenings and of course: the paintings). For about 12 months I will be on my way around the world to spread colours and happiness. I intend therewith to paint 5 hours a day and create minimum 8 wall paintings along with circa 72 other (smaller) pieces of art. The smaller pieces, will be in a exhibition after returning to Holland. These will be divided to the people who made a major contribution to the project. I would like to make a book, about the paintings and experiences After the travel.

I do need additional funding for the costs of traveling and materials. I hope to gather this additional funding by means of crowd funding. I estimated an amount of 3000 Euros to be sufficient to start. From my gaining’s I intend to donate 10% to the children to whom I will provide painting lessons.
