About International Theatre Collective Eindhoven

International Theatre Collective Eindhoven (ITCE) makes theatre productions for an international audience. The topics of the plays match with current themes that are recognizable for both internationals and locals.

The diversity of the international community is seen as a source of wealth for developing our plays. Cast and crew bring their cultural background, their stories and their commitment and thus make a significant contribution to the content, development, and design of our productions.

ITCE makes theatre plays in which other disciplines are vital. Movement-theater and (life) world-music are key pilars.

About the play Festen

Festen (Danish for ‘The Party’) originally is a Danish movie from 1998 from Thomas Vinterberg. The theater adaptation of David Eldridge had its premiere in London in 2004.

The story: Helge is celebrating his sixtieth birthday in his family hotel. His wife Else, son Christian, daughter Helene and a group of relatives gather for a big party. His second son Michael is not invited. Nevertheless, he arrives at the hotel with his wife and daughter. The big absent is daughter Linda.

Helge asks Chris to speech during dinner, because he doesn’t feel up to it, because of arecent tragedy. During the speech Christian shares that his father did we he and his sister Linda were little. Family and guests are perplexed at first but decide to go on and party. The servants at the hotel are on Christians’ side and want him to succeed in his purpose; they make it impossible for the guests to leave. The tension, because of it, rises. But still, the guests try to continue the party. When Helene finds a letter from her sister, and decides to read it aloud to everyone present, they must face the suffering. Helge leaves, while the festive breakfast is still going on….

Instead, we delve into the labyrinth of human relationships where secrets, like confetti at a masquerade, rain down upon us. But we won't spoil the fun - this is one drama where surprises are the star of the show.

Our cast and crew are eager to bring "Festen" to life (between 14 and 24 March 2024 in Pand P in Eindhoven) with all its twists and turns, but we can't do it without your support.
