Hallo, te gek dat je even de tijd neemt om te kijken naar mijn project! Je hebt inmiddels vast al begrepen waar het om gaat: samen met mijn fantastische band wil ik graag een album maken.
We hebben al een lange weg afgelegd naar dit punt en dit voelt als het juiste moment om de losse eindjes te verbinden. Met het concreet maken van dit album zal niet alleen de muziek die in de afgelopen jaren gemaakt en verfijnd is eindelijk mooi vastgelegd worden; het creëert ook nieuwe mogelijkheden om het project verder te brengen, en daar gaan we voor!
Bij het produceren van een CD komt echter veel kijken. Het proces begon een tijd geleden al met het schrijven van muziek. (Hoofdstuk-I.) Vervolgens moest die verder uitgewerkt en verfijnd worden met de band. Daaraan wordt nu de laatste hand gelegd. Daarna kan het opgenomen worden, hoera! Als we klaar zijn met de opnames heffen we het glas voor het volbrengen van hoofdstuk-II van het proces, maar dan is het nog niet klaar. Na het opnemen volgen nog meer uren in de studio voor het editen, mixen en voor mastering (de laatste afwerking). Er moet art-work ontworpen worden en er zijn kosten om de auteursrechten te registreren. En dan moet de CD nog daadwerkelijk gemaakt worden. Om dit hele traject tot een succesvol eind te brengen wil ik een beroep doen op jouw steun.

Natuurlijk geef ik je daar graag iets voor terug! Als het allemaal lukt vertel ik bijvoorbeeld graag aan iedereen dat dit mede dankzij jou gelukt is door je naam in krullende letters op project-pagina van deze band op mijn website te zetten, of in het boekje van de CD. Als je wilt schrijf ik een lied voor je voor een speciale gelegenheid (misschien wel de verjaardag van je (schoon-)moeder waarvoor je iets speciaals wilt doen), en ik kan het samen met de gitarist of pianist van de band voor je komen zingen (of op de verjaardag van je (schoon-)moeder dus). Meer voorstellen voor wederdiensten vind je hiernaast. (Eventueel kun je ook contact met me opnemen als je zelf een idee hebt over een voor jou interessante wederdienst.)

Over de band
Post-it painters is een internationaal gezelschap voortkomend uit een samenwerking tussen pianist Dirk Balthaus (DU) en zangeres Sietske Roscam Abbing (NL). Zangeres Sietske Roscam Abbing speelde eerder door het hele land met de meer pop-georiënteerde band Follow Alice waarmee ze in 2010 een album uitbracht. In het voorjaar van 2012 rondde ze haar master jazz zang af aan het conservatorium van Amsterdam. In die periode is ze zich meer gaan richten op het schrijven van moderne jazz songs waarvoor de band post-it painters het voertuig werd. Als muzikant streeft zij ernaar authentieke muziek te maken. Innovatief en dicht bij het hart.
Pianist Dirk Balthaus speelde als lid van het Millenium Jazz Orchestra met grootheden als Benny Golson, Lee Konitz, en de New York Voices. De band bestaat naast Sietske en Dirk uit drie zeer vaardige muzikanten die hun eigen karakter in de muziek laten doorklinken: gitarist Eran Har Even (IL), bassist Marco Zenini (IT) en drummer Efraim Schulz-Wakerbarth (AUS-D). De stijl van de muziek is popgroove-georiënteerde vocale jazz en zou mede door het verhalend karakter kunnen worden omschreven als “cinematic folkjazz”.

Visie
Het idee achter de muziek van Post-it Painters is een zoektocht naar een sterk beeldend en zintuigelijk karakter. De textuur en het arrangement zijn gebaseerd op het uitbeelden van een scène die de tekst ondersteund, maar houden ruimte waarin de band elke keer een nieuwe versie van het stuk kan creëren.
Sietske (zang) en Dirk (piano) zijn samen verantwoordelijk voor de composities en (aanzet voor) de arrangementen. Deze worden gezamenlijk verder vormgegeven. De band kent sinds het begin (in het najaar van 2009) buiten Sietske en Dirk verschillende bezettingen. Sinds de lente van 2012 werkt de band in zijn huidige bezetting. Met bassist Marco Zenini, drummer Efraim Schulz-Wackerbarth en gitarist Eran Har Even heeft de band een combinatie van muzikale karakters gevonden waarmee de muziek tot zijn recht komt naar de visie van zijn initiators.

Hello, thanks for taking some time to take a look at my project! In the meantime you probably understood what it's about: together with my amazing band I want to record an album.
We already came a long way to this point, and this feels like the right moment to tie the loose ends. The realization of this album will not only mean that the music, that has been made and refined in the past years, can finally be recorded properly, it also creates new possibilities to bring this project further, and that's what we're going for!
There's a lot involved in the production of a CD. The process began already some time ago with writing the music (chapter – I). Then we worked on the songs with the band and by now we arrived to the final stage of refining the music. After this we we can record it, hurray! When we finish the recordings we raise our glasses to toast on completing chapter – II of the process, but than it's not finished yet. After the recordings more hours in the studio follow to edit, mix and 'master' the material. For the final product we also want to have beautiful 'art-work' and there are costs for registering the copy-rights. Than, finally, the actual CD has to be produced. To bring all this to a successful end I would like to appeal to your support.
Of course I want to give you something in return for this! When the project is successful I will gladly tell everybody that it was thanks to you by writing your name in curly letters on the project-page of the band on my website and in the booklet of the CD. If you want I will write a song for you, maybe for a special occasion (the birthday of your mother (in law) for example), and I can come to sing it in person with accompaniment of the guitarist or pianist of the band. More suggestions for what I will give you in return are written next to this text. (A translation can be found under this text). You can also contact me personally if you have an idea for something specific that would be interesting for you or your company (for example a workshop).
