Mokum Art Festival is an interdisciplinary festival, a meeting ground for upcoming creative talent - to share, to connect, to present and to unite.
Art is the way to communicate the Zeitgeist of society. As society constantly changes, we would like to celebrate diversity in any form within the Amsterdam Art Scene. In these Post-Covid times the goal is to bring all kinds of art forms and cultures together to showcase the talented ones, to inspire the audience. We hope to be a breeding ground for artist collaboration and emerging artist celebration.
We, the organizers, are artists ourselves but also big art appreciators. This whole project came together because we found eachother in places in Amsterdam, where we dreamed of creation. As an emerging artist it‘s not easy to get space to present the work. Some artists that are involved in the festival know eachother already in some way or another, from unpaid gigs or the classic artist side jobs that pay the bills. We have figured as this emerging artist community that the only way to grow is to grow together!
We want to set a precedent for artists being paid a liveable, fair wage, while still creating an affordable event for guests and audience.
In this way, we hope we can inspire the Amsterdam Art Scene to become more open for diverse art appreciation and fair artist payment.
The program of the event will involve a Local Artist Market, Artisanal Food, Clothing Swap, Poetry, Singer-Songwriters, Bands, (Live-) DJs, Performances, Photo Expositions, Installations, Tattoo, Facepaint, an Interactive Art Room, an important demand to the art industry and a whole lot fun!
