REIO ( Rotterdam Electronic Improvised Orchestra ) - first electro-acoustic orchestra in Rotterdam!!
Is an initiative of the “ Rotterdam based ” composer, drummer and teacher Elvis Homan. REIO consists of a permanent line-up or 8 professional Rotterdam musicians, Codarts alumni and Codarts teachers. Elvis Homan will do a series improvisation sessions with the end product an album ( that is also available on CD and vinyl ) and a release party. The accompanying video material comes online. Homan's intention is to build musically and conceptually on the unique foundations that artists such as pioneers of electronic and contemporary classical music from french school of Pierre Boulez ( IRCAM ) , Gyorgy Ligeti, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Iancu Dumitrescu, Gerard Grisey (and similar) and inspiration of electronic music inspired by Norwegian music scene such as; Stale Storlokken, Arve Henriksen, Stian Westerhus and such.
Together with the members of REIO, Homan will investigate the power of Dutch improvised music during live sessions, but from a new angle, where the traditional occupations within the genre consist of acoustic instruments, supplemented electronic devices, Homan has one of the principles with the Rotterdam Electronic Improvised Orchestra to work fully electronically on top of acoustic instruments.. All orchestra members, with or without metacoustic instruments, deliver a new wave and relations between electro-acoustic sounds.

If the crowdfund is a success, then REIO will be able to create a new music and come out with interesting material that would contribute to Dutch music scene.

It is believed that the scope of producing new sounds using electronic equipment, especially electronic devices, effect boxes, modular synthesizers, analog gear and computer software language such as Max / MSP and Ableton, is playing a big role when combining genres of contemporary classical music, improvisation and live electronics, especially when creating and achieving big orchestral sound timbres.
In addition, everyone comes from different places on the globe and brings a touch of their own culture and sound, which makes the mix of input even more interesting.
The addition to the process of making music is also that REIO orchestra also works with guest artists. In the past REIO was working with Jozef Dumoulin, Jos Zwaanenburg, Marcel Wierckx, Gerri Jager. which gave the orchestra opportunity to grow and develop different concepts and new music material.

The past works from REIO is also published online and can be checked on the next platforms. REIO is also recorded a first album Complex K in 2020 ( links that are related to first released music are copied below ).
