Documentary film idea:

Do you have a dream? My mother's dream is to visit Paris.

This movie is about every one of us and our dreams.

What happens when a dream collides with reality?

This movie is about our relationship with our parents and our desire to make them happy.

This film is about a middle-aged woman with not an easy life, who has always dreamed of visiting Paris. And only one person can fulfill her dream, her daughter.

Who am I:

My name is Yana Khazanovich. I was born and raised in Russia but now I have lived in the Netherlands for the last 7 years. I'm an aspiring filmmaker and cinematographer in my graduation year of Gerrit Rietveld Academie and this gonna be my final work.

I studied Psychology before and I believe that is where my love for documentaries came from. I get inspired by people and their stories. I believe that documentary films are compelling, and can make people think, remember and be aware of what's happening around them.

I filmed several documentaries before, and some of them were shown in the EYE film museum and in galleries and small cinemas around Amsterdam. In March there will be another short called "JUSTA A STONE" premier in the EYE film museum during the "Eye on art" program. One more film called "IN BETWEEN" will be exhibited in the Stedelijk museum, during the UNCUT program.

This movie is very personal to me. I wanted to tell this story and it had been on my mind for the last 3 years. I'm looking forward to this movie being born and sharing it with you all.

Why do I need your help:

We all know that the production of any movie is expensive. Even a documentary film. I am a working student and can cover some of the costs, but unfortunately not all of them. I need support in buying tickets for my mom and me, and my camerawomen, our accommodation, food, etc. So, that's why I'm hoping for your help in supporting me in making my graduation movie.

Unfortunately, there is almost no other funding for graduating artists, only for alumni. Which makes artists ask around.

Film production will happen from 25 of February till 15 of March in Paris. Of course, I will keep all my donors posted on the progress of the movie.

The film will be shown In Gerrit Rietveld Academy during the graduation between 5-9 July 2023 and there will be a screening of this film in the Eye film museum, the date of that will be announced soon.

All the donators will be invited to the show at Rietveld Academy.
