Welkom op onze crowdfunding pagina! Wij zijn Jason en Jaimy, geboren in Almere en studenten op de Hogeschool van Utrecht. Maar het meest belangrijk: de makers van de documentaire Dreamchaser.

Beide zijn wij gegrepen door het verhaal van Nederlands American Football speler Gino Akkerman. Als sportliefhebbers en creatievelingen zagen wij potentie in het maken van deze documentaire. Steun jij ons?

Welcome to our crowdfunding page! We are Jason and Jaimy, born in Almere and students at the Hogeschool van Utrecht. But most importantly: the makers of the documentary Dreamchaser.

We were both moved by the story of Dutch American Football player Gino Akkerman. As sports enthusiasts and creatives, we saw potential in making this documentary. Do you support us?

Het verhaal

Succesvol zijn en jouw droom achterna gaan, wij Nederlanders zijn veel te nuchter voor grootspraak als dit. Wij allemaal hebben obstakels in het leven. Niets is gegeven alles is verdient.

Hiermee introduceren wij een documentaire over de Nederlandse American Football speler Gino Akkerman. Jaren jaagt hij al zijn droom achterna om een scholarship te bereiken in de Verenigde Staten. Het land waar geen enkele sport groter is dan American Football. Met trainingskampen in Europa, het juiste netwerk en een beetje geluk is dit te bereiken. In het verleden was Gino al dichtbij met try-outs op verschillende hogescholen in de VS.

Nu is Gino 21 en nog steeds strijdend voor zijn uiteindelijke droom. Maar hoeveel moet hij ervoor opgeven en is het reëel genoeg om carrière te maken in Amerika? Waarom is dit zo belangrijk voor hem en hoe is hij überhaupt op deze sport gekomen die zo onbekend is in Nederland? Wij volgen Gino in zijn weg naar succes. Deze documentaire is de inspiratiebron voor elke sporter die de top wilt bereiken.

The story

Being successful and chasing your dream, we Dutchies are much too down-to-earth for boasting like this. We all have obstacles in life. Nothing is given everything is earned.

With this we introduce a documentary about the Dutch American Football player Gino Akkerman. For years he has been chasing his dream of obtaining a scholarship in the United States. The country where no sport is bigger than American Football. This can be achieved with training camps in Europe, the right network and a bit of luck. In the past, Gino was already close with tryouts at various colleges in the US.

Now Gino is 21 and still fighting for his ultimate dream. But how much does he have to give up for it and is it realistic enough to make a career in America? Why is this so important to him and how did he get into this sport that is so unknown in the Netherlands? We follow Gino on his way to success. This documentary is the source of inspiration for every athlete who wants to reach the top.

De documentaire makers

Jaimy Moorman (links): Nadat ik Media & Broadcast Operations te Hilversum heb afgerond, wist ik zeker dat werken met een camera écht mijn ding was. Nu ik Journalistiek studeer, merk ik dat het vertellen van inspirerende en meeslepende verhalen op beeld het gewenste schepje er boven op is. Met de minor CampusDoc op de Hogeschool van Utrecht heb ik samen met Jason de gelegenheid om iets SUPER tofs neer te zetten. Net zoals Jason en Gino ben ik geboren in Almere. Om 'mijn' stad te representen middels deze documentaire maakt mij dan ook trots. Om deze redenen zal ik beeldend, maar ook verhalend alles uit deze unieke American Football journey van Gino halen.

After I completed Media & Broadcast Operations in Hilversum, I was sure that working with a camera was really my thing. Now that I'm studying Journalism, I notice that telling inspiring and compelling stories on screen is the desired extra. With the minor CampusDoc at the Hogeschool van Utrecht, I and Jason have the opportunity to create something SUPER cool. Just like Jason and Gino, I was born in Almere. To represent 'my' city through this documentary makes me proud. For these reasons I will get everything out of Gino's unique American Football journey visually, but also narratively.

Jason Akkerman (rechts): Mijn passie voor film en verhalen is geworteld in mijn jeugd. Eindeloos kon ik films opnieuw kijken en daarover door fantaseren. Ik wilde hier iets mee blijven doen. Tijdens mijn vorige opleiding Media en Evenementen heb ik mogen meewerken aan een documentaire en vanaf toen wist ik het: ik kan met mijn creativiteit en het visualiseren van ideeën en dromen, mijn beroep maken en zelf een documentaire maken. Met deze documentaire wil ik anderen inspireren om hun droom achterna te gaan. Samen met co regisseur Jaimy ga ik dit prachtige verhaal neerzetten. Beide zijn we gegrepen door dit originele verhaal van Gino en tevens ook mijn jongere broer.

My passion for film and storytelling is rooted in my childhood. I could endlessly rewatch movies and fantasize about them. I wanted to keep doing something with this. During my previous Media and Events education I was allowed to participate in a documentary and from then on I knew: I can make my profession with my creativity and the visualization of ideas and dreams, and make a documentary myself. With this documentary I want to inspire others to chase their dream. Together with co-director Jaimy I'm going to put down this beautiful story. We are both captivated by this original story by Gino and also by my younger brother.

Het verhaal staat, nu de realisatie nog. Door de minor CampusDoc die wij volgen op de Hogeschool van Utrecht hebben wij een mooie kans om dit verhaal te presenteren, maar om het tot een nog hoger niveau te tillen zullen wij het groter aan moeten pakken.

Zonder financiële steun is dit niet mogelijk. Daarom zijn wij deze crowdfunding gestart! Denk aan het dekken van de volgende kosten: de reiskosten naar Gino's trainingskamp in Duitsland en de kosten die we nodig hebben voor filmapparatuur en experts die onze documentaire beeldend nog sterker maken

The story stands, now the realization remains. The minor CampusDoc that we follow at the Hogeschool van Utrecht gives us a great opportunity to present this story, but to raise it to an even higher level, we will have to take a bigger approach.
