Introductie

Hiiii, ik ben Sakeesha Balkaran, een 26-jarige fashion designer, illustrator en graphic designer. ****Super tof dat je interesse hebt om mijn fashion collectie ‘PLAY MORE’ leven in te blazen.

In de week van 20 tot 28 mei 2023 presenteer ik mijn fashion collectie op de Green Fashion Week in Rotterdam. Dit wordt geen gewone, maar een interactieve fashion show. Super spannend dus! De exacte datum maak ik bekend via de socials 😁😁

Over mij

Ik weet nog dat ik als 6-jarig meisje samen met mijn moeder en tante spelletjes speelde op de Nintendo Classic. Heerlijk was dat, die vrijheid. Maar hoe ouder ik werd, hoe minder ik deze vrijheid ervaarde door de verantwoordelijkheden van het volwassen leven.

De pandemie heeft mij inzicht gegeven over hoe wij als maatschappij leven om te werken in plaats van te werken om te kunnen leven. Door middel van fashion, illustratie en het re-connecten van mensen is de collectie PLAY MORE ontstaan. Een collectie waarin jij in charge bent en kan kiezen voor geluk, plezier en het samen zijn.

Een collectie waarin jij in charge bent en kan kiezen voor geluk, plezier en het samen zijn.

PLAY MORE is een fusie van mijn jeugdherinnering van de Nintendo Classic en het volwassen leven. Door de vrijheid en de vibes van de 90’s hiphop cultuur, dans en kleding te combineren met de nostalgie van de Nintendo classic waar ik vroeger speelde, laat deze collectie zien hoe je nog steeds jezelf kan blijven en plezier kan hebben samen met je medemens in deze gekke wereld.

Hoe kunnen jullie helpen

Om dit waar te kunnen maken heb ik jullie hulp nodig! Voor het produceren en presenteren van deze collectie heb ik nodig: 200 mensen die €50 willen doneren. Dit geld wordt onder andere besteed aan de productie van de collectie, foto- en videografen, podiumattributen, mua’s en het stage design van de interactieve fashion show.

About me

I remember playing Nintendo Classic games with my mom and aunt as a 6-year-old girl. That was wonderful, that freedom. But the older I got, the less I experienced this freedom from the responsibilities of adult life.

The pandemic has given me insight into how we as a society live to work rather than work to live. The PLAY MORE collection was created through fashion, illustration and reconnecting people. A collection in which you are in charge and can choose happiness, fun and being together.

PLAY MORE is a fusion of my childhood memory of the Nintendo Classic and adult life. Combining the freedom and vibes of 90's hip hop culture, dance and clothing with the nostalgia of the Nintendo classic I used to play, this collection shows how you can still be yourself and have fun with your fellow man in this crazy world.

How can you help!

To make this happen I need your help! To produce and present this collection I need: 200 people who want to donate €50. This money is spent on, among other things, the production of the collection, photographers and videographers, stage attributes, muas and the stage design of the interactive fashion show.
