Wie zijn wij?

Sine Solem is een makerscollectief bestaande uit twee creatieve muzikanten, Anne en Anouk. Met muziek voor kotamo, hobo en saxofoon zoeken we de grenzen van de klassieke muziekwereld op. Deze unieke klankcombinatie is de basis voor de ontwikkeling van onze eigen muzikale concepten. Improvisatie speelt daarbij een belangrijke rol, zo overbruggen we de uiteenlopende stijlperiode van onze instrumenten.

Wat doen wij?

Wij werken samen met (een) beeldende kunstenaar en filosofe Merel Thijs aan een nieuw muziektheater, genaamd “Ontrafelde Verbinding”. Deze zal in première gaan op 17 en 18 september 2022 voor het kunstenfestival Musica Sacra, te Maastricht.

Waar gaat het over?

Dit muziektheater is een poëtische voorstelling die ontstaan is nadat wij, drie jonge vrouwen, via klank, beeld en woord onderzoek deden naar de ‘vlucht inwaarts’: een mogelijkheid om rust en verbinding te vinden in zichzelf midden in de vlucht van het leven. We willen met dit werk een parallel trekken tussen externe (fysieke) en interne (psychologische) vluchtredenen.

Wie werkt mee?

Voor dit project staan drie vrouwen aan het roer.
Naast ons collectief Sine Solem, zijn we heel dankbaar te mogen samenwerken met Merel Thijs.

Even een overzicht van het hele team:

• Merel Thijs (1993) is beeldend kunstenaar met een specialisatie in schilder- en assemblagekunst. Vanuit haar achtergrond in muziek, theater en filosofie verzorgt zij in kader van de voorstelling Ontrafelde Verbinding de tekst, scenografie en regie. De beeldkunst op de scene is tevens van haar hand. Diverse artistieke disciplines samenbrengen tot een harmonisch geheel waarin het publiek kan herinnerd worden aan het Schone is een van de voornaamste doelstellingen in haar werkzaamheid als kunstenaar. www.merelthijs.be

• Anne Willem studeerde dit jaar nog summa cum laude af in de Musikhochschule van Lübeck, met een master in hobo. Haar grote passie voor het maken van muziektheaters uitte zich al in haar eerste voorstelling “De Creatie” die in 2017 in première ging. Ze kreeg in datzelfde jaar de Hustinx-prijs toegekend, ter waarde van 2500 euro, voor haar initiatief van het schrijven van muziektheaters. In 2018 werd ze aangesteld als hoboïst in het educatief project “Orpheus” van Philharmonie Zuidnederland. Sinds 2020 is ze vast lid van het improvisatie orkest Stegreif, in Berlijn. https://annewillem.com/

• Anouk Neyens (1998) begon op negenjarige leeftijd met saxofoon. Gepassioneerd door de verbindende kracht van muziek, gaf ze reeds op jonge leeftijd solo- en kamermuziekconcerten in België en Nederland en nam ze deel aan verschillende concours. In 2021 rondde ze haar master af aan het KASK Conservatorium te Gent en Musikhochschule Lübeck. De laatste jaren verdiept ze zich in de improvisatie, zo is ze lid van het klankencollectief 'De zwarte zusters', een groep jonge mensen die via improvisatie de spanning tussen muziek en performance verkent.

“Ontrafelde Verbinding” is onze allereerste voorstelling als makerscollectief Sine Solem. Een belangrijk moment in onze carrière, dat dankzij jouw bijdrage realiteit wordt. Jouw financiële steun is ook een duurzame investering, doordat we de deze voorstelling nog vele malen zullen opvoeren. Zo werken wij bijvoorbeeld aan een concept waarbij we deze voorstelling als educatief project kunnen uitwerken.

Aangezien het de allereerste keer is dat we deze voorstelling spelen, zijn de productiekosten hoog. Het verhaal moet bedacht worden, het script uitgeschreven, de muziek en bewegingen moeten ingestudeerd worden... kortom, er wordt veel onderzocht en geschrapt.

De bijdragen van deze crowdfunding gaan integraal naar deze kosten. Concreet betekent dit dat wij het geld zullen gebruiken om intensieve repetitiedagen uit te betalen en onkosten van het decor te vergoeden.

Sine Solem is a collective consisting of two creative musicians, Anne and Anouk. With music for kotamo, oboe and saxophone, we seek the boundaries of the classical music world. This unique sound combination is the basis for the development of our own musical concepts. Improvisation plays an important role in this, thus bridging the diverse stylistic period of our instruments.

What do we do?

We are working with visual artist and philosopher Merel Thijs on a new musical theater, called "Ontrafelde Verbinding". It will premiere on September 17 and 18, 2022 for the arts festival Musica Sacra, in Maastricht.

What is it about?

This musicaltheater is a poetic performance that came about after we, 3 young women, explored through sound, image and word the "flight inward": a possibility to find peace and connection within oneself in the midst of the flight of life. We want to use this work to draw a parallel between external(physical) and internal (psychological) reasons for fleeing.

Who is collaborating?

For this project, 3 three women are at the helm.
In addition to our collective Sine Solem, we are very grateful to collaborate with Merel Thijs.

• Merel Thijs (1993) is a visual artist with a specialization in painting and assemblage art. From her background in music, theater and philosophy she provides text, scenography and direction in the context of this performance. The visual art on stage is also by her hand. Bringing together various artistic disciplines into a harmonious whole in which the public can be reminded of the beauty is one of the main objectives in her activity as an artist. www.merelthijs.be

• Anne Willem graduated summa cum laude from the Musikhochschule of Lübeck just this year, with a master's degree in oboe. Her great passion for making music theater was already expressed in her first performance "De Creatie" which premiered in 2017. She was awarded the Hustinx Prize in the same year, worth 2,500 euros, for her initiative of writing music theater. In 2018 she was appointed as the oboist in the educational project "Orpheus" of PhilharmonieZuidnederland. • Anouk Neyens (1998) started playing the saxophone at the age of nine. Passionate about the connecting power of music, she gave solo and chamber music concerts in Belgium and the Netherlands at an early age and participated in several competitions. In 2021 she completed her master's degree at the KASK Conservatory in Ghent and the Musikhochschule Lübeck. In recent years, she has been exploring the field of improvisation, and is a member of the sound collective 'De zwarte zusters', a group of young people who use improvisation to explore the tension between music and performance.

Why we need your financial support?

"Ontrafelde Verbinding" is our very first performance as a maker collective Sine Solem. An important moment in our career, which will become a reality thanks to your contribution. Your financial support is also a sustainable investment, because we will perform this show many more times. For example, we are working on a concept where we can develop this performance as an educational project.

Since it is the very first time we are playing this performance, the production costs are high. The story has to be conceived, the script written out, the music and movements have to be rehearsed, a lot of research and deletions have to be made... The contributions of this crowdfunding would go integrally to these costs. Specifically, we will use the money to pay for intensive rehearsal days and expenses of the set.
