Wie ben ik?

Hoi! Mijn naam is Maria Parfonova (17 jaar) en ik ben een klassieke pianiste uit Kiev. Nu in Nederland ga ik studeren aan het Concervatorium van Amsterdam.

Ik begon piano te spelen op 6-jarige leeftijd en studeerde aan het Kiev State Music Lyceum, een van de toonaangevende muzikale onderwijsinstellingen in Oekraïne, waar ik in mei 2022 (online) ben afgestudeerd met een gouden medaille. Op mijn YouTube-kanaal vind je mijn piano-opnames.
Daarnaast is tekenen mijn favoriete hobby en manier van zelfexpressie.

In Oekraïne nam ik deel aan verschillende concerten en wedstrijden: in 2015 won ik op 10-jarige leeftijd de derde prijs op de Puhalski-wedstrijd (Oekraïne) en in 2016 de eerste prijs op de Oekraïense pianowedstrijd "Kerstminiaturen". In 2017 trad ik op bij het Nationaal Filharmonisch Orkest van Oekraïne en ontving ik een beurs voor jonge Oekraïense musici. In 2019 nam ik deel aan het Tsjaikovski-festival en won de Eerste Prijs (Oekraïne). In 2021 won ik de eerste prijs op het Kamermuziekconcours ter gelegenheid van het 125-jarig geboortejaar van de Oekraïense componist Victor Kosenko (Oekraïne). In hetzelfde jaar bereidde ik met het schoolorkest het eerste pianoconcert van Prokofjev voor, dat ik in april met het Filharmonisch Orkest zou uitvoeren. Vanwege de oorlog kon het concert helaas niet doorgaan.

Mijn persoonlijke verhaal

Sinds de grootschalige oorlog is begonnen, is mijn leven snel veranderd. Ik wist niet wat mijn toekomst zou zijn en zelfs niet of die er zou zijn. Uiteindelijk hebben mijn ouders en ik de moeilijke beslissing genomen om ons huis te verlaten en naar Nederland te reizen. Wij deden er drie dagen over om van Kiev naar Amsterdam te komen, waar we op 8 maart aankwamen.

Vanaf dat moment werd muziek mijn grootste hulp om terug te keren naar het normale leven. Leven zonder sirenes, angst voor morgen en schuilkelders. Een leven waar iedereen van mijn leeftijd naar verlangt.

Na het afronden van mijn toelatingsexamens werd ik in april aangenomen op het Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Gelukkig mocht ik meedoen aan Benefietconcerten voor Oekraïne in Den Haag, Amsterdam Delden, Baarn, Gouda, Oranjewoud etc. In mei trad ik op in het Stift International Music Festival.

Vanaf september studeer ik voor mijn bachelor diploma aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam aan de afdeling Piano bij Naum Grubert en ook aan de Davidsbündler Muziekacademie in Den Haag.

Waarom ik uw hulp nodig heb

Op dit moment is mijn familie volledig afhankelijk van de toelage die Nederland aan Oekraïense vluchtelingen geeft. Ik begin nu met studeren, maar door de oorlog kunnen mijn ouders mij niet financieel ondersteunen. Ik moet denken aan kosten voor mijn levensonderhoud, reizen en bladmuziek. Wedstrijden, masterclasses en muziekfestivals zijn erg belangrijk voor mijn professionele ontwikkeling als muzikant, maar helaas zijn ze altijd duur. Daarom heb ik besloten om deze crowdfunding te starten.

Concertpianist zijn en de schoonheid van muziek delen met andere mensen is mijn grootste droom en ik ben op weg om deze werkelijkheid te maken. Ik wil laten zien dat muziek ook anderen kan helpen.

Who am I?

Hi! My name is Maria Parfonova (17 y.o.) and I am a classical pianist from Kyiv. Now in the Netherlands I will be studying at the Concervatory of Amsterdam.

I started playing piano at the age of 6 and studied at Kyiv State Music Lyceum, one of the leading musical educational institutions in Ukraine, from which I have graduated (online) in May 2022 with a gold medal. On my YouTube channel you can find my piano recordings.
Besides, drawing is my favorite hobby and way of self-expression.

In Ukraine I participated in various concerts and competitions: in 2015, at age of 10 I won the Third Prize at Puhalski competition (Ukraine), the First Prize in 2016 at Ukrainian piano competition “Christmas miniatures”. In 2017 I performed at the National Philharmonic of Ukraine and received a scholarship for young Ukrainian musicians. In 2019 I participated in the Tchaikovsky Festival and won the First Prize (Ukraine). In 2021 I won the First Prize at the Chamber music Competition dedicated to the 125th anniversary of composer Victor Kosenko (Ukraine). In the same year I was preparing Prokofiev's 1st piano concerto with the school orchestra, which was supposed to be performed at the Philharmonic in April, but was not possible due to the war in Ukraine.

My personal story

Since the full-scale war has started, my life changed rapidly. I didn't know what my future would be and even whether it would be at all. Finally me and my parents made a hard decision to leave our home to stay in the Netherlands. Then, it took us three days to get from Kyiv to Amsterdam, where we arrived on March 8.

From that moment music became not only one of the most important things that helped me to keep striving - it helped me to return to normal life. Life without sirens, fear of tomorrow and bomb shelters. A life that anyone my age is entitled to.

After finishing my entrance exams, in April I was accepted at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Fortunately, I could participate in Benefit Concerts for Ukraine in the Hague, Amsterdam Delden, Baarn, Gouda, Oranjewoud etc. In May I performed in the Stift International Music Festival.

Starting from September I will be studying for my bachelor degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam at the Piano Department with Naum Grubert and also at the Davidsbündler Music Academy in the Hague.

Why I need your help

At this moment, my family is completely dependent on the allowance that the Netherlands gives Ukrainian refugees. My studies are starting now, but due to the war my parents cannot support me financially. I have to think about costs for my living, traveling and sheet music. Competitions, masterclasses and music festivals are very important for my professional development as a musician, but, unfortunately, they are always expensive. This is why I decided to start this crowdfunding.

Being a concert pianist and sharing the beauty of music with other people is my biggest dream and I am on my way to make it reality. I want to show that music can help others as it already helps me.
