My next storytelling project STANDING ON THE MIRACULOUS FIELD will tour a "creative LAB" around the Netherlands — working sessions where the audience collaborates in the artistic process.

Who am I?
My name is Terra Norihiro Terazawa, a son of a farmer, a storyteller, a Natural Farming practitioner, and a piece of nature. I grew up in a farming town in Japan and watched the town slowly die out from farmers leaving the field — despite nature's abundance in the very field. My search for how to farm in peace led me to one day encounter Natural Farming — considered to be the most sustainable farming method in the world. Natural farming became my passion to this day.

What's my show?
Standing on The Miraculous Field is my latest storytelling show about the Japanese sustainable farming method, "Natural Farming". The show tells of relationships between nature & humanity, and how today, we've lost connection with nature.

What's a Creative LAB?
The first phase of my show is to tour a series of "Creative LAB" sessions, where I will share my ongoing developing piece, and after the show, discuss my work with the audience in a collaborative format. This Creative LAB series will lead to a theatre performance premiering in autumn across the Netherlands.

The story
Modern society has created a world of constant growth and progress. Science has enabled us to create a materially wealthy life. Through all the economic and scientific breakthroughs, we’ve adapted a mindset to improve nature. Faster is better. Or is it?

Terra, a farmer's son, one day learns and practices this sustainable organic farming method just because his girlfriend, Lisa, who works in a big corporation, wants a partner in crime in her new farming adventure. His parents do not feel good about it and wish him to get a better job...

The story is told through 4 seasons and tells of a unique hero's journey to gain the skill to farm harmoniously with nature. Japanese do-nothing farming method, "Natural Farming" teaches us to regain awareness of syncing with nature's forces. Natural Farming also teaches us the way to live in peace within ourselves and the world around us.

So this is an experiment.

The script is done, yet it needs some polishing.
I want to test this show in front of an audience and see how much impact it has. Storytelling in the end, is an interactive art. As the LAB progresses in June and July from Utrecht to Leiden to Amsterdam, I will incorporate audience feedback into the show. By the end of the LAB in mid-July, Standing on the Miraculous Field will have evolved into a theatre performance — premiering in autumn across the Netherlands.

Why donate?
Shows cost money. I want to form a creative team: a director, a musician, a designer, and a writing coach.
I have a wonderful musician, Emanuele Pellegrini, and renowned British acting coach, Gary Condes for writing and direction.
Furthermore, we need to pay for, equipment, outreach materials/design, and decor.

When the campaign succeeds I will create seed balls, go to a deserted area and throw them so some vegetation will start.

Mijn volgende storytelling project STANDING ON THE MIRACULOUS FIELD gaat op tournee door Nederland met “Creative LAB” werksessies waarbij het publiek meewerkt aan het artistieke proces.

Wie ben ik?

Mijn naam is Terra Norihiro Terazawa; een zoon van een boer, een verhalenverteller, een beoefenaar van Natural Farming, en net zoals jij een stukje van de natuur. Ik groeide op in een boerenstadje in Japan en zag dat stadje langzaam uitsterven doordat boeren het veld verlieten - ondanks de overvloed van natuur in het veld zelf. Mijn zoektocht naar hoe ik in vrede kon boeren leidde mij op een dag naar Natural Farming - beschouwd als de meest duurzame landbouwmethode in de wereld. Natural Farming werd mijn passie, tot op de dag van vandaag.

Wat is mijn show?

Standing on The Miraculous Field is mijn nieuwste verhalenshow over de Japanse duurzame landbouwmethode "Natural Farming". De show gaat in op de relatie tussen de natuur en de mensheid, en hoe we vandaag de dag de verbinding met de natuur zijn kwijtgeraakt.

Wat is een Creative LAB?

De eerste fase van mijn show bestaat uit een serie "Creative LAB" sessies, waarbij ik het werk dat ik aan het ontwikkelen ben zal delen, en na de show zal bespreken met het publiek in creatieve samenwerking. Deze Creative LAB serie zal leiden tot een theatervoorstelling die in de herfst in Nederland in première zal gaan.

Het verhaal

De moderne maatschappij heeft een wereld gecreëerd van constante groei en vooruitgang. De wetenschap heeft ons in staat gesteld een materieel welvarend leven te leiden. Door alle economische en wetenschappelijke doorbraken, hebben we ons een mentaliteit eigen gemaakt om zo ook de efficiëntie van de natuur te moeten kunnen verbeteren. “Sneller is beter”. Of toch niet?

Terra, een boerenzoon, kiest er op een dag voor deze duurzame biologische landbouwmethode te praktiseren omdat zijn vriendin Lisa, die in een groot bedrijf werkt, een partner in crime zoekt in haar nieuwe landbouwavontuur. Zijn ouders voelen zich hier niet goed bij en wensen dat hij een betere job krijgt...

Het verhaal vertelt over 4 seizoenen de reis van een eigenzinnige held die vaardig en harmonieus met de natuur leert te werken. De Japanse ‘doe-niets’ landbouwmethode, Natural Farming, leert ons weer bewust te worden van het synchroon lopen met de krachten van de natuur. Natural Farming leert ons ook de manier om in vrede te leven in onszelf en de wereld om ons heen.

Dit is een experiment, het script is klaar, maar het moet nog wat opgepoetst worden.

Ik wil deze show testen voor een publiek en zien hoeveel impact het heeft. Verhalen vertellen is uiteindelijk een interactieve kunst. Terwijl het LAB vordert in juni en juli van Utrecht naar Leiden naar Amsterdam, zal ik feedback van het publiek verwerken in de show. Aan het eind van het LAB, half juli, zal Standing on the Miraculous Field zijn geëvolueerd tot een theatervoorstelling - die in het najaar in première zal gaan in heel Nederland.
