Dit jaar ben ik sterker dan ooit begonnen en nu sta ik voor één van de grootste uitdagingen uit mijn carrière (tot nu toe). Help mij Milaan Design Week 2022 te veroveren met mijn afstudeerwerk Mathematic Geometry.

Hoi! Mijn naam is Kimberly Leijen, Dynamic Designer. Alumni 2021, bachelor of design, Hogeschool van kunsten Utrecht HKU.

Sinds mijn afstuderen heb ik vele doelen behaald welke nog niet zo lang geleden onbereikbaar leken en zijn mijn werken steeds meer onder de aandacht gekomen. Na Dutch Design Week, heb ik mijn eerste solo-expositie in Amsterdam Jordaan mogen organiseren, krijg ik binnenkort de sleutel van mijn eigen studio en als kers op de slagroomtaart staat nu Milaan Design Week voor de deur.

Milaan
Dit is mijn eerste grote expositie in het buitenland en de meest uitdagende tot nu toe. De expositie in Milaan zal een nieuwe mijlpaal zijn. Het is de stap naar de toekomst en pusht mijn afstudeerwerk naar nieuwe ontwikkelingen en materiaal uitvoeringen.

Deze locatie vraagt om meer organisatie, meer professionaliteit en mankracht. De voorbereidingen zijn begonnen, de plannen zijn groots en sta ik vol energie tegenover deze uitdagingen maar, ik heb ook jullie hulp nodig mijn doelen waar te kunnen maken. Daarom deze crowdfunding actie.

Het afstudeerwerk
De afgelopen jaren werk ik veel met metaal, een stoer en sterk materiaal waar ik mijn identiteit als designer in heb gevonden. Dankzij mijn achtergrond uit de evenementen branche heb ik een brede skills set mogen ontwikkelen maar, ben ik mij mede door corona meer gaan richten op interieur design. Ik ben mijn ontwerpen steeds meer aan het verfijnen, met als resultaat mijn laatste collectie; Mathematic Geometry.

Mathematic Geometry
Toont de schoonheid van de natuur met een ontmoeting tussen de wiskundige taal die de zichtbare en onzichtbare wereld beheerst. De natuur zit vol geometrische verrassingen, zij bestaan overal om ons heen en creëren de fundamentele structuren van het leven in het universum. Zij zijn de bouwstenen van onze fysieke realiteit. Dat klinkt misschien gek maar, deze vormen zijn extreem evenwichtig en gelijkwaardig en we weten allemaal dat de natuur de neiging heeft om de zaken in evenwicht te houden.

De Collectie
Naast mijn huidige afstudeerwerk de “KLDSCP-POLYHEDRON” en“SHPTI-G21” zijn twee nieuwe ontwerpen in ontwikkeling: de "FLOWER POWER-G21", een metalen interactieve paardenbloem. Zij reageert op de aanwezigheid van de mens en gaat de interactie aan d.m.v. lichtintensiteit. En "PLUME-G21", de schitterende kroon op de collectie, met een volledig nieuwe benadering in materiaal en vorm.

Laatste loodjes
De lat ligt hoog, de prijzen stijgen door de internationale conflicten en ik heb uw financiële steun nodig om al mijn doelen te kunnen behalen, uw bijdrage zal gebruikt worden voor de verdere ontwikkeling van de collectie, met de aanschaf van materialen, machines en gereedschappen welke de productie in de nieuwe studio zullen versterken en het transport naar Milaan te kunnen bekostigen.

This year I started stronger than ever and now I'm facing one of the biggest challenges of my career (so far). Help me take Milan Design Week 2022 by storm with my graduation work Mathematic Geometry.

Hi! My name is Kimberly Leijen, Dynamic Designer. Alumni 2021, Bachelor of Design, Utrecht University of the arts, HKU.

Since my graduation, I have achieved many goals that until recently seemed unreachable, and my works have gained more and more attention. I started this year stronger than ever, after Dutch Design Week, I was honoured to organise my first solo exhibition in Amsterdam Jordaan, I will soon get the key to my own workshop, and as the icing on the cake, Milan Design Week is now approaching.

Milan
This is my first major exhibition internationally and the most challenging so far. The exhibition in Milan will be a new milestone. It is the step to the future and pushes my graduation work towards new developments and material versions.

This location requires more organisation, more professionality and more manpower. The preparations have started, the plans are ambitious, and I am full of enthusiasm for these challenges, but I need your help to realise my goals. That is the reason for this crowdfunding campaign.

The graduation work
In the last few years, I have been working a lot with metal, a tough and strong material in which I have found my identity as a designer. Thanks to my background in the events industry, I have been able to develop a broad skillset, but corona has also helped me to focus more on interior design. I am refining my designs more and more, resulting in my latest collection; Mathematic Geometry.

Mathematical Geometry
Shows the beauty of nature with an encounter between the mathematical language that dominates the visible and invisible worlds. Nature is full of geometric surprises, they exist all around us and create the fundamental structures of life in the universe. They are the building blocks of our physical reality. It may sound crazy but, these shapes are extremely balanced and equal and we all know that nature tends to keep things in balance.

The Collection
In addition to my current graduation work the "KLDSCP-POLYHEDRON" and "SHPTI-G21", two new designs are in development: the "FLOWER POWER-G21", a metal interactive dandelion. It reacts to human presence and interacts with light intensity. And "PLUME G21", the jewel in the crown of the collection, with a completely new approach in material and shape.

Last mile
The bar is high, prices are rising due to the international conflicts and I need your financial support to achieve all my goals. Your contribution will be used for the further development of the collection, with the purchase of materials, machines and tools to enhance the production in the new studio and to pay the transport to Milan.
