Het was perfect. Een volle kerk, kaarsjes, hemelse muziek gezongen door getalenteerde jongens en mannen.

Maar dat was vóór corona. Al twee jaar wacht de der Aa-kerk op een feestelijke Festival of Lessons and Carols met het Roder Jongenskoor. En al twee jaar kon het RJK niet het land door met de Matthäus Passion. Zoveel kerken en zalen moesten teleurgesteld worden, en bovenal u, het publiek.

Kweekvijver voor zangtalent
Vanwege de coronamaatregelen lag het concertleven stil en daarmee vervielen onze inkomsten. Een traditie van enkele tientallen jaren komt in gevaar, jaren waarin het RJK kwalitatief hoogstaande uitvoeringen gaf en zich ontpopte als kweekvijver voor zangtalent in het Noorden. Zo zijn tientallen jongens na hun vooropleiding bij het RJK doorgestroomd naar het conservatorium. Ook ondersteunt het RJK jaarlijks onder meer het Noord Nederlands Orkest en het Luthers Bach Ensemble bij hun uitvoeringen van de Matthäus Passion. Daarmee is het koor van bijzonder belang voor het culturele landschap van Noord-Nederland.

Gezonde financiële basis
Omdat deze unieke muziekpraktijk alleen kan bestaan met een gezonde financiële basis, hebben we uw financiële steun hard nodig. Deze gezonde financiële basis is door het uitvallen van de concerten en dus het missen van vele inkomsten door de coronacrisis volledig weggevallen en brengt de koorschool momenteel in onzeker vaarwater.

Uw bijdrage
Met uw bijdrage blijft het mogelijk jong talent te werven en op te leiden, kunnen de koorrepetities en de zanglessen doorgaan, kan de repetitieruimte worden gehuurd, nieuwe muziek worden aangeschaft en de concertkleding worden aangevuld.

Kortom, met uw bijdrage kunnen we ook in 2022 prachtige muziek uit de Engelse koortraditie voor het voetlichtbrengen. We hebben uw hulp dus hard nodig en stellen die dan ook bijzonder op prijs!

Help the Roden Boys' Choir through the Bleak Midwinter!

It was perfect. A full church, candles, and heavenly music sung by talented boys and men. But that was before Covid-19. For two years now many churches have been waiting in vain for a festive Festival of Lessons and Carols with the Roden Boys' Choir. For two years now, the Roden Boys' Choir has not been able to travel the country performing the St Matthew Passion. So many churches and halls, and especially you, the public, had to be disappointed.

Breeding ground for vocal talent
Because of the Covid-19 measures, there were no concerts allowed and the choir garnered no income. This now threatens a decades-long tradition, in which the Roden Boys' Choir gave high quality performances and emerged as a breeding ground for vocal talent in the north of the Netherlands. Dozens of boys have gone on to study at conservatories after their initial musical education at the Roden Boys' Choir. In addition, the Roden Boys' Choir annually supports, amongst others, the 'Noord Nederlands Orkest' (Orchestra of the Northern Netherlands) and the 'Luthers Bach Ensemble' (Lutheran Bach Ensemble) in their performances of the St Matthew Passion. This makes the choir of special significance to the cultural landscape of the north of the Netherlands.

Healthy financial foundation
Because this unique music practice can only exist with a healthy financial foundation, we really need your financial support. Cancellation of the concerts due to the Covid-19 crisis and thereby missing out on much revenue has led to the complete erosion of our healthy financial foundation, and the choir school is now facing very uncertain times.

Your contribution
Your contribution makes it possible to recruit and train young talent, continue choir practices and singing lessons, rent a rehearsal location, purchase new music and replenish choir robes.
