Yessss, na 1 week staat de crowdfunding al op 100%! Ik had nooit durven dromen dat het zo snel zou gaan, mijn eeuwige dank aan alle donateurs ♥

Omdat mijn project nog een dikke 3 weken op Voordekunst mag staan heb ik besloten mijn doelbedrag te verhogen! Met nog €700 wil ik twee grote pastelkrijt-tekeningen een prachtige lijst met ontspiegeld glas geven, zodat ze een plekje kunnen krijgen in de expositie en onderdeel worden van het interieur. Een optimale presentatie van deze tekeningen is essentieel omdat ze de dromen en angsten suggereren van het fictieve persona waar ik de expositie rondom vormgeef.

Help mij bij het verzamelen van antiek meubilair en inlijsten van tekeningen voor mijn project Angel in the House en laat je in maart, in Groningen meevoeren naar een nostalgische wereld - Doneer nu!

Laat je transporteren naar het interieur van een fictief persona uit de jaren '30-’40. Vind sporen van haar ambities, twijfels en de invloed van destijdse media door een onderzoekende houding aan te nemen in deze interactieve installatie die moderne media combineert met authentieke objecten uit de eerste helft van de vorige eeuw.

Wie ben ik?
Ik ben Ellis Scheer en als kind zag ik regelmatig hoe mijn ouders zich op het podium als goochelaar en assistente in andere werelden waanden. Met een levendige fantasie en tomeloze creativiteit vond ik in beeldende kunst manieren om uiting te geven aan mijn fascinatie voor deze werelden.

Geïnspireerd door de beeldtaal van theater en cinema maak ik installaties, films en tekeningen om mijn publiek mee te nemen naar verstilde en vervlogen realiteiten.

Winnaar kunstsalon IJL
Afgelopen zomer nam ik met mijn eerste film, Ellis Scheer, Rijnlanderweg 989, 2132 ML Hoofddorp, deel aan de jaarlijkse kunstsalon van Galerie Noord. Met deze film over de verstilling en eenzaamheid rondom Corona werd ik onder 75 deelnemers verkozen tot winnaar van de salon! Dit betekent dat ik van 5 tot 31 maart 2022 een solo-tentoonstelling mag houden in de galerie, met een Pictoright werkbijdrage van €1500 en begeleiding van de juryleden.
Met Angel in the House zal ik voortbouwen op de thematiek die ik met mijn eerste film aansneed.

Waarom dit project?
Sinds Corona ben ik anders tegen huishoudelijke taken aan gaan kijken. Omdat tijdens de lockdowns alle activiteiten uit de agenda verdwenen, was het huishouden niet langer iets dat tussen alle bedrijven door gepland moest, maar het gaf mijn dag juist rust, structuur en houvast.

Voor mij is het boegbeeld van het huishouden de huisvrouw; dit 20ste eeuwse ideaalbeeld van de vrouw wijdde haar leven aan het creëren en onderhouden van de huiselijke sfeer, maar had ook vaak last van onbestemde gevoelens van eenzaamheid en depressie.
Nu we tussen de lockdowns door weer in onze oude, gehaaste patronen terugvallen, kunnen we iets leren van haar zorg voor de persoonlijke omgeving en herkenning opbrengen voor haar gevoel aan het huis gekluisterd te zijn.

Om een ode aan haar te brengen en me in te leven in mijn voormoeders, die als vrouw niet dezelfde vrijheden hadden als ik nu heb, creëer ik de installatie rondom een alterego dat is geïnspireerd op de huisvrouw.

In de afgelopen periode heb ik van de Pictoright werkbijdrage gebruik kunnen maken om vooronderzoek te doen, bijvoorbeeld in het Museum van de 20ste Eeuw. Daarnaast heb ik invulling gegeven aan kleinere onderdelen van de installatie, zoals videowerken, pastelkrijttekeningen en kleine objecten.

Nu heb ik €2500 nodig voor de aanschaf en transport van het decor, waar je straks zelf de interactie met de objecten kunt aangaan. Hiermee ga ik in kringloopwinkels, rommelmarkten en Marktplaats op zoek naar vintage meubilair dat huiselijkheid en een warme sfeer uitstraalt en daarmee een essentiële aanvulling op de installatie vormt om de juiste stemming op te roepen.

Er staan leuke tegenprestaties tegenover een donatie, zoals online toegang tot de film waarmee ik de kunstsalon won of een film still naar keuze geprint op dibond!

Het is mijn droom een prachtige solo-tentoonstelling in Galerie Noord te maken. Door te doneren, maar ook door deze crowdfunding te delen help je mij mijn droom te verwezenlijken!

Let yourself be transported into the interior of a fictional persona from the ‘30s-‘40s. Find traces of her ambitions, doubts and the influence of the media at the time. Take an investigative attitude in this interactive installation that combines modern technology with authentic objects from the first half of the previous century.

Who am I?
My name is Ellis Scheer and as a child I often saw my parents navigate different worlds when they were on stage as a magician and his assistant. With a vivid imagination and boundless creativity, I found ways to express my fascination with these worlds in fine art.

Inspired by the imagery of theater and cinema, I make installations, films and drawings to bring my audiences along to stilled and bygone realities.

Winner of art salon IJL
Last summer I took part in the yearly art salon of Gallery Noord (Groningen) with my first film, 'Ellis Scheer, Rijnlanderweg 989, 2131ML Hoofddorp’. With this movie about the quieting and lonely impact of Corona, I was chosen among 75 participants as the winner of the salon!
This means that between March 5-31 in 2022, I am to have a solo-exhibition in the gallery with a work contribution of €1500 from Pictoright and guidance from the judges.
With Angel in the House I will continue on the themes that were touched upon in my first film.

Why this project?
Since Corona, my attitude towards domestic duties has changed. Because all activities disappeared from the calendar during the lockdowns, household chores were no longer things that needed to be planned in between other obligations. They actually brought peace, structure and something to plan my day around.
For me, the poster girl of domesticity is the housewife; this 20th century ideal of a woman would dedicate her life to creating and maintaining the domestic sphere. But she also had undetermined feelings of loneliness and depression.
Now that we fall back into our old, rushed habits in between lockdowns, we can learn something from her care for the personal environment, but also recognise her sense of being confined to the home.

To honour her and to imagine the lives of my foremothers, who did not have the same liberties as I nowadays have as a woman, I am creating the installation around an alter-ego who is inspired by the housewife.

I need your help!
For the past months, I have been able to use the Pictoright contribution to do research, for example in the Museum of the 20th Century in Hoorn. I’ve also developed smaller components of the installation, such as video works, pastel drawings and small objects.

Now I need €2500 for the purchase and transport of the decor, in which you as a viewer will be able to interact with the objects. With this, I will search thrift stores, flea markets and online marketplaces for vintage furniture that evokes a homely atmosphere and is therefore an essential addition for the installation in order to summon the right mood.
