Hello !
Who Are We?
Our names are Ignas van Rijckevorsel and Emile Weisz. In 2020 we graduated from the audiovisual arts department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. We realized that Ignas' passion for photography and cinematography and Emile's passion for storytelling and narrative arts could be a fruitful combination, so we decided to start collaborating on film projects.

Our Project
Through acquaintances of ours we heard about a group of people, led by Ton van de Kroon, who are planning to meditate on top of the mythical mountain Schiehallion on 11 november in Scotland.
This event is planned during a period in which an important conference will be held related to climate change in Glasgow, called COP26. This conference attracts world leaders from around the globe, who are gathering to make important decisions concerning the future of the planet.
(website link for COP26: https://ukcop26.org/)
Ton believes we should make less decisions with our brain and more with our hearts. He believes the mountain of Schiehallion has a strong energetic field, which will help the meditators to send wisdom to the climate conference, so that decisions will be made in order to benefit the planet. In this documentary we would like to investigate this ritual and how he believes it will be beneficial for the earth.
(Read more about Ton's event here: https://connecting-the-dots.eu/)

Besides filming our journey and findings up the mountain Schiehallion, we would also like to film the happenings on the streets of Glasgow, related to the conference. It's a large event which attracts many activists and protestors, like the group Exctinction Rebellion, who will protest for radical change. Many people believe this might be the last event that could avoid lasting damage to the planet due to global warming.
(read Exctinction Rebellion's statement for the conference here: https://rebellion.global/COP26/)

Creative Intention
We would like to treat the documentation of both events equally. On the one hand, the calm of the meditation and connection to the earth within a vast natural environment, and on the other hand, the noise of the potentially aggressive protests in the busy streets of Glasgow.
The tension deriving from this duality is what we find very interesting as filmmakers. We would like to experiment with how these two realities coexist in a single visual experience. During filming we will try to keep our eyes open, without judging what we see. Our intention is for the viewer to make up their own mind about Ton's practice and also the radical action of protestors fighting for the planet's well being.

Funding
We think this project has an important message concerning the *heated* times we're all experiencing. For us it's a testament to humanity's struggle towards a sustainable way of living. We aim to show two different means of expression that both distance themselves from structured modes of living that are no longer durable for the environment. Bureaucracy delays action on climate change. We're looking for funding to be able to realize this project, and we need your help to do so.
Thanks for reading, we hope you're inspired by our film and would like to support us by making a donation.
x,
Ignas & Emile
