Wat is Supernova Cinema?
Supernova Cinema wordt een safer space cinema in Amsterdam, met liefde opgericht door het team van het jaarlijkse International Queer & Migrant Film Festival. Bij Supernova Cinema ontdek je een alternatieve en inclusieve programmering met indie film, debat en workshops gericht op actuele nieuwe perspectieven, queer topics, migratie, diversiteit & identiteit. Supernova Cinema biedt een platform aan opkomende filmmakers, organiseert uitwisselingen met internationale kunstenaars en bijzondere festivals en werkt vanuit artivism, waarin kunst en activisme samen bijdragen aan onze wereld.
Wie zit er achter Supernova Cinema?
Het team achter Supernova Cinema bestaat voor een groot deel uit programmamakers van International Queer & Migrant Film festival en er zijn verder mensen bij betrokken die zich vanuit hun professionele bestaan bezighouden met onderwerpen als representatie, dekolonisatie en herdenken. Wij zijn een zeer divers team ondersteund door een groep van enthousiaste vrijwilligers en cinema-lovers. Het bestuur van de stichting bestaat uit leden met een achtergrond in cinema, de academische wereld en de kunsten.
Waar is Supernova Cinema?
Je vindt ons op de tweede verdieping van Overtoom 301 in Amsterdam. OT301 is ontstaan vanuit de kraakbeweging en in 2006 gekocht door een diverse, internationale gemeenschap die verenigd is in een vereniging genaamd EHBK. Dit alternatieve, non-profit platform wordt gerund als collectief, waarin wonen, werkruimten en publieke functies worden gecombineerd om bij te dragen aan kunst, politiek en subcultuur. Supernova Cinema maakt sinds juli 2021 onderdeel uit van het collectief EHBK.
Wat gaan we doen met de bijdrage uit deze campagne?
We gaan de bioscoopruimte in het OT301 gebouw opknappen en voorzien van een nieuwe beamer, bioscoopstoelen en de huidige bioscoopstoelen willen we gaan bekleden. De bioscoopzaal wordt anders ingericht en voorzien van meer hedendaagse apparatuur.
Het bedrag van het tweede streefdoel wordt besteed aan het herinrichten van de Ventilatiekamer (cafe). Het café wordt opnieuw ingericht met nieuw meubilair en de bar krijgt een upgrade. Een deel van het streefdoel wordt gebruikt voor het inrichten van een online kassa-systeem zodat jullie vanuit je luie stoel kaarten kunnen bestellen voor de cinema.
We gebruiken het einddoel om een eigendraads en alternatief filmprogramma van drie maanden neer te zetten in het najaar van 2021. We richten ons op samenwerkingen met bijzondere internationale filmfestivals zoals Soura Film Festival, special screenings van bekende en (nog) onbekende filmmakers en een divers samengestelde randprogrammering met Q&A’s en panel talks.
What is Supernova Cinema?
The Supernova Cinema will be a safe space in Amsterdam, founded by the team behind the International Queer & Migrant Film Festival, currently celebrating its 6th annual edition. The space is charachterized by an alternative and inclusive programming, showcasing indie films, debates and workshops focused on intersectionality, new perspectives, queer topics, migration, diversity & identity. Supernova offers a platform for emerging filmmakers, orchestrating exchanges with international artists and festivals, as well as working on the basis of artivism – activism through art.
Who is behind Supernova Cinema?
The team behind Supernova includes programmers, organisers and volunteers from the International Queer & Migrant Film festival – a diverse group of people who are directly involved in topics such as representation, decolonisation and commemoration, all from a professional perspective. We are a diverse team supported by a group of enthusiastic volunteers and cinema-lovers. The board of the foundation consists of members with a background in cinema, academia and the arts.
Where is Supernova Cinema?
You can find us on the second floor of Overtoom 301 in Amsterdam. OT301 originated from the Amsterdam squatters' movement, and was eventually bought in 2006 by a diverse, international community, an association under the name ‘EHBK.’ This alternative, non-profit platform is run as a collective, in which living, working spaces and public functions are combined to contribute to art, politics and subculture. The Supernova Cinema has been part of the EHBK collective since July 2021.
What will we do with the contribution from this campaign?
We are going to refurbish the cinema space in the OT301 including a much needed new beamer and seating. The cinema room will be furnished differently and equipped with more contemporary equipment. The amount of the second target will be spent on the refurbishment of the Ventilation Room (café), including the bar which will also be completely re-vamped. Part of the target amount will be used to set up an online cash register system so that you can order tickets for the cinema from the comfort of your home. The ultimate goal is to set up a unique and alternative film program of three months in the autumn of 2021. The space seeks to tap into collaborations with special international film festivals like Soura Film Festival, special screenings of up-and-coming filmmakers and a diversely composed side program with Q&As and panel talks.

Doel 1: € 10.000
Aankoop nieuwe stoelen apparatuur en bioscoopstoelen
Met het behalen van het eerste tussendoel is Supernova Cinema in staat om de filmzaal op te knappen, een nieuwe beamer aan te schaffen en (nieuwe) vintage bioscoopstoelen en het bekleden van deze stoelen. Ventilatiekamer / cafe
De voormalige Ventilatiekamer van het gebouw is ons cafe. De Ventilatiekamer is de plek waar ontmoeting centraal staat en waar bezoekers van Supernova Cinema worden uitgenodigd voor een drankje, panel talks of nagesprekken met kunstenaars en filmmakers. Het streefbedrag van het einddoel wordt gebruikt om de Ventilatiekamer op te knappen, de bar te professionaliseren en de ruimte van nieuw meubilair te voorzien. Kom jij langs voor een drankje aan onze bar? The former Ventilation Room of the building is our café and meeting hub for pre and post event mingling – from drinks with a filmmaker, to debates and other event. The target amount of the final goal will be used to refurbish the Ventilation Room, professionalize the bar and provide the space with new furniture. Be sure to come up for a drink and mingle with some likeminded individuals.

Supernova Cinema heeft een programmering!
Na het behalen van de twee tussendoelen waarin Supernova Cinema een mooie nieuwe look krijgt met goede apparatuur en bioscoopstoelen, hebben we met het behalen van het einddoel de eerste drie maanden aan filmprogrammering gegarandeerd. Verwacht een andere programmering dan in reguliere bioscopen en Q&A's met internationale filmmakers! Dank voor het steunen van Supernova Cinema en we verwelkomen je graag in onze nieuwe bioscoop!
